AZ-AlphaXi 06-10-2005 11:14 AM

I'll try to remember to bring sticky name tags (you know that ones that say Hi my name is .. :0) .. so we can put our screen alias on it ...

Hi ... my name is AZ-AlphaXi ...... :-)

WCUgirl 06-10-2005 11:23 AM

Mine should read, "Hi, my name is AXiD670, and I'm a GreekChataholic."

SoProud2BeAnAlphaXi 06-10-2005 06:14 PM

I'll be there!!

Sorry for the delayed response -- I haven't been able to check GC lately. Isn't it SO annoying when work gets in the way of sorority?

I'll see you all at the Hospitality Desk!

WCUgirl 06-22-2005 09:21 AM

I was reading through some other posts, and have accidentally left some sisters off the list. It's exciting that there are so many of us from GC going to convention!

What about WarmFuzzie and NYCAXiD? If you two see this, make sure you plan to meet up with us next Wednesday!

For those of you who cannot attend, Mr. AXiD670 will be bringing his laptop since he'll have to remote in to his office to do some work while I'm in sessions all day. I'll try to log into GreekChat at least once to give an update...although I think most of us will be there! :)

How do we find out our room assignment?

amanda6035 06-23-2005 10:33 PM

Myself and the Chapter Alternate had requested a 4 person room - we listed each other as roommates, and put "no preference" for the other 2 people. But we both got emails stating that though we had requested a 4 person room, they were only able to put us in a 2 person room. I'm guessing we signed up too late to get the 4 person room. If you havent heard differently from what you signed up for, I'm assuming you got what you requested.

I really hated it that there are not going to be 4 people to a room. But I found out that the hotel is not allowing quad only singles and doubles. Why? I don't know.

To get more money of course. Why allow 4 people to stay in the room for the same price as 2 people when you can force em all to pay the same rate? I think it's really crappy that supposedly headquarters worked out the deal for us, gave us the info, and we registered, and then, if what you're saying is true, the hotel pulled the good deal out from under our feet. As small as my chapter is, we would have really benefitted from only having to pay half the price that we're gonna be forced to pay now.

Really looking forward to seeing everyone in 5 days!!!

WCUgirl 06-26-2005 10:07 PM

It's Convention week! I'm so excited. I've already started packing. Mr. AXiD670 and I bought him a new pair of pants today to wear to dinner one night, so when y'all see him Wednesday or Thursday night, make sure to whistle at him (he's self-conscious; he's afraid they hug his behind too much :) ).

I'm just so stressed out -- I have to get some extra hours in at work before we leave, and I have to get my school supplies, and I have to do some more shopping! But I'm still super-excited.

See everyone Wednesday!!!

This is the funniest thing I've read in weeks! He's REALLY going to be self-conscious with random women whistling at him! Especially when there's hardly any men around and he figures out you told everyone he's worried about his butt!

LOL! I can't stop cracking up!!! Love it!!!

flirt5721 06-28-2005 11:12 AM

Just one more day. I can hardly wait.:D

AZ-AlphaXi 06-28-2005 01:13 PM

Well I'm off in about an hour to start picking people up at the airport ... I'm more than ready to get this show on the road ...

Looking forward to seeing everyone before dinner tomorrow night...

AZ-AlphaXi 07-01-2005 09:35 AM

Just wanted to let you'all know that convention is going very well.

This morning, the Alpha Xi Delta Foundation will award a $10K Choose Children grant to a very deserving group, The Parent Connection.

AXiDTrish 07-03-2005 10:21 PM

It was great meeting you all!!!

Hi Ladies,
For those of you at Convention....it was great putting a face to a screen name! Lovely to meet you all! Back in town now, but of the three Conventions I've been to, this has been one of the most enjoyable. Thanks the Tucsan AA and FHQ for hosting an amazing Convention!!!
-Trish! ;)

tcsparky 07-03-2005 11:07 PM

Home now! Already missing seeing letters and sisters everywhere. It didn't take me long to get used to it. This week was absolutely amazing. I laughed, cried, had fun, and felt sad.....too many emotions happening to keep track of. I made new friends, visited with old ones, and had a wonderful time.

If you didn't go, you can have no idea what you missed. It's indescribable. All I can say is that is would have been worth your time and money.

Now I will start saving for 2007...Indianapolis, here I come!!!!!!

WCUgirl 07-04-2005 01:58 AM

I just got home. We got delayed in Denver and had to wait forty-five minutes to pick up our baggage here in Charlotte. On the plus side, there was no one waiting at the gate, so we got free parking!

I had so much fun! It was great to meet everyone from GC. For some reason, no one was as I had pictured them.

flirt5721 07-04-2005 07:02 PM

It was really nice meeting some of you. This was my first Convention and I'm already planning to go to the next one. Thanks to Tucson AA and everyone at HQ for a great convention. I had so much fun and it was really great to see that Paige recieved the Alum award we nominated her for.

quillogold 07-04-2005 07:30 PM

Hey everyone!

I was at Convention! I wish I would have know that you guys were going to be meeting up. That would have been fun. I had so much fun at Convention! The break out sessions were the best part....

amanda6035 07-05-2005 08:12 AM

What was your favorite...

part of convention? (other than the rose banquet, of course!)

Mine was the session with Real Admiral "Mimi" Blackburn Drew. Of course, that probably comes with my own prior navy experience. I found myself wishing I had worked for her, especially when she discussed how some supervisors would horde information, rather than teaching it to their subordinates. I felt that way my first 2 years in. When we finally had a change of command, I had new supervisors who finally wanted to teach me something.

How many of you particiapted in the 5K? i thought it was cute how Jane Sutton was out there in her block letters, cheering us on as we started the race.

Enough of my rambling....Actually I take that back. If any of you have a chance, could you check out or website and give feedback and ideas? I've been checking out other websites, tryign to get ideas for new sections to add, or ways to make it more appealing or user friendly. If any of you have ideas or comments, please let me know. I'm on a mission - I am taking web development in the fall, and I want that "best website award" next year! www.texasaxid.org was the winner this year, and their site rocks.

Thanks!!!!!

You know, I almost didn't attend this. I have attended so many motivational lectures on leadership, I thought it would be the same old speech. I was blown away by what she had to say -- I'm so glad I didn't skip it to sleep in late!

I can't really say that I had a favorite part. I will say that I wish it would have been longer. There were several breakout sessions I hate that I missed b/c I attended a different one (there were too many to choose from!). I also wish I had been able to get a copy of the Choose Children book. And I definitely didn't get in enough shopping.

One suggestion on your website -- I realize that you don't have any yet (or probably don't), but get an alumnae section started. That way you'll get used to keeping it updated. :)

quillogold 07-05-2005 04:42 PM

I agree, I really enjoyed Mimi's Living Leadership session. I really was considering skipping it because I figured that it wouldn't be any different than every other leadership seminar I've been to but it was amazing!

GirlyXi 07-06-2005 01:04 AM

What I liked....

i liked it all!! i had so much fun meeting new sisters and forming bonds with them. I think that was the best part for me was actually meeting other sisters and realizing how much we had in common.

AlphaXiGirl 07-07-2005 05:53 PM

Where do I begin?

There are so many parts of convention that I just loved!

As always, my #1 goosebump moment was hearing Grace sang by over 400 of my closest sisters.

It was great to meet so many of you for the first time. And for those of you that I have known for so long, it was wonderful to see you again. Your love, support, and sisterhood means the world to me (you all know who you are :) )

Let the countdown to Indy begin!

SoProud2BeAnAlphaXi 07-08-2005 09:24 PM

Did we ROCK at Grace, or what?! I've never heard it sung so beautifully, three-part harmony with confidence every time. Kudos to Michele Evink for helping us all sing so well.

I loved spending time with all my sisters.

I loved the water slide.

I loved Kim Starr telling us the cheesecloth/GN history. Very freaky but somehow compelling.

I did NOT love the little wild pig that greeted me near my room at midnight after Rose Banquet. I've been told they're quite aggressive, and was forced to walk slowly backward in pumps, in the dark, for quite a distance.

I loved every dessert we were served.

I loved the Beaux Brummels.

I loved the tiaras.

I loved the spa.

I loved hearing about the Parent Connection, our new children's book What Can I Do?, and our new relationship with First Book.

I loved Debbie Maas's shoes.

I LOVE Alpha Xi Delta!!!

See you in Indy...

WCUgirl 07-08-2005 11:19 PM

I got chills when they announced the First Book program at the breakfast. I'm so ready to get involved with that!

WCUgirl 07-14-2005 02:04 PM

Does anybody remember the name of the vendor that was up against the back wall? He had the black zippered totes w/ the blue letters on them...he packed up and left a day early. Anyways, I was hoping to try to find him online.

amanda6035 07-14-2005 02:30 PM

No problem =)

I've found some awesome "buy greek stuff" websites lately. I usually try to post the "impressive" ones (good stuff, cheapest prices) on our website. I especially like alphagold.com as opposed to masters of design because their prices are cheaper, and from my experience, they ship quicker.

WCUgirl 07-14-2005 02:46 PM

I actually was going through the licensed vendors section briefly earlier (trying to find that bag :) ), and some of the vendors now have some cute things. We used to not have that much stuff...the trouble is that now that there is more cute stuff available I have to come up w/ the $$$ to pay for it!

Do you happen to remember who was selling those French memo boards? It was over there, on the side where the stuff that they sell at FH was located, near the cash register. I didn't see them on our website.

French Memo Boards? The dry erase boards? I thought those were available on the headquarters website....unless I'm thinking of the wrong item?

The dry erase boards are different. The French memo boards were like a royal blue satin w/ white ribbon criss-crossing -- and they had Alpha Xi Delta letters on them (or maybe it was written out?).

This is what a French memo board looks like:

I've seen some of the memo boards on greek101.com
