Well, I don't wear hose if I'm wearing toe-less shoes, so that won't help!!! ACK! Oh well. All the more reason not to take any more clients who require me to go to court!!!

I'm having a wicked sad week.. it sucks! But.. tomorrow night, I do have a MuchoBahama Mama and Apple ChimiCheesecake date with some friends from work @ Applebee's ;)

I am an attorney/title examiner for a title company w/a little private law practice on the side. I do mostly real estate work & transactional work to cure defects in property when people buy/sell property. Basically, I research the history of a piece of property & make sure that the person who is trying to sell it or refinance it has a right to sell it and/or the title is clear of liens, judgments, claims, oil & gas leases/reservations, etc.

I also write legal documents (usually wills, affidavits, power of attorney), and do probate work (help people make sure their loved one's wishes are carried out after they die, based on their will, which requires some activity w/the court), and that was what I was doing the other day...

I don't usually have to dress up for work b/c my job is pretty casual, as are my clients. But when I go before the judge, I do what other lawyers do every single day: try to look the part! I shouldn't complain about those clients though...they bring in alot better fees than the ones who just want Deeds drawn up.

I got into this in kind of a weird way. I decided to go to law school after spending 7 years in another career. My younger brother was 2 years ahead of me in law school, and worked as a law clerk at the title company. When he graduated and went off to a big law firm in another city, he sort of arranged for me to take his place, and I just never left. After graduation & the Bar exam, I just stuck around, working at my old law clerk's wages while I looked for other work...since I didn't want to leave Lubbock, there wasn't alot to choose from, so I just stuck around & volunteered to do more actual legal work related to real estate closings...it has grown from there. They ended up making me a full time employee of the title company, and they allow me to build a related legal practice & mentor me when I need help. It's a win-win situation.

Big change from my prior life (lives) in corporate training & managed care provider contracting....

Anne Marie: I love the wedding picture you posted. Those bridesmaids dresses are really pretty, too!

Andi: Do you have to wear pantyhose for your lawyering duties, or are you just talking about for Convention? You could always pull a Tracy B. and break your foot if you really want to get out of wearing hose!!!! :D

I am SO bummed I am unable to go to Convention.. maybe in 2 years.. :) Although I can honestly say I will not be sorry that I'm missing wearing hose while in Tampa.. in July.. oh man, that is going to suck. :p :p

I'm excited.. I have been offered a Nanny job in No. VA for next summer. This could be money :p (they're *really* well off, plus I would be all set for a job for when I move!)

She is transferring to my mom's school.. and my mom met her yesterday.. and I would like to get in touch with her, so she can visit my chapter since its not too far away. I teach...and we have to go back to school on JULY 28!!! whatever happened to summer vacation? We got out on June 4 and its already time to go back. I'm sooo not ready and I have no idea where my summer has gone!!!

ok..enough On the positive side, I am ready to get back into a normal routine. Things are much easier, routine wise, during the school year. Go to school, practice/game (i coach volleyball and soccer), go to the gym, cook dinner, do work, go to bed. Which means "no hanging out and spending money at useless bars with friends, cause they teach and don't want to stay out all night"!

Why so early???

I have had such a miserable week at work (summer camp). I have irritating campers and it has been raining ALL WEEK.. so we've been cooped up inside. Uhg... I am ready to beat my head against a sharp corner to put myself out of my misery :(

On a positive note.. it isn't supposed to rain tomorrow!

On an even MORE positive note.. I started a "Fitness Training Plan" 2 weeks ago (since I work at a health club.. :p) and I have lost 5 lbs!! WoooHooo!! :D

I have been going to the gym regualarly, but working at the bakery defeats the whole purpose. Imagine working at a place where you can eat Chocolate Cheesecake, carrot cake, dream bars (creamcheese and almond flavoring, yum), homemade chicken salad, and lots of other stuff...free. Its all sooo yummy. I worked there all through college and became pretty good friends with the woman who owns it, so she lets me work whenever to earn some extra spending money. The Sugar Plum makes me feel like I HAVE to go to the gym, or blow up!

We go back to work on the 28th, but my kids start on Aug. 4. Still way tooo soon, I think.

Sorry its been raining! We has a cool front come in last night and it is actually nice outside now. I layed out before I had to go to work. Hopefully the rain will hold off this weekend. I am going to see Chairman of the Board Sat. night and Kenny Chesney on Sunday night. I'll take pics for yall!

AWJ- How was the concert?! I LOVE Kenny Chesney!!

I went to Martha's Vinyard this weekend with my roomates from PSU. Oh man.. SO MUCH FUN! (For those of you who don't know.. Martha's Vinyard is a Ritzy, rich island off of Cape Cod in Mass. Many, Many famous people have houses there. The Kennedys, Tom Hanks, etc.)

We went to the beach ALL DAY on Saturday.. stayed out at the bars and pubs until 4am this morning :eek: , ate a lot of good food, drank lots of good beer and got sweet tans! :)

We're already planning our outing for next summer.. I can't wait to go back!!

Even more exciting.. we saw a guy proposing on the beach.. it was SO cute!!!

It was a great weekend...shaggin' to Chairmen on Sat. and Kenny on Sun. Its going to take me all week to recover.

So...the ex-boy from SC is calling again. Time to work this thing out. I have no idea what to think or do, but its kinda hard to turn your back on someone you dated for 4 years. Ugh...think I will go lay down in my new pj's and read. Isle of Palms...great book!

I had THE best time hanging out with a bunch of 15 year olds yesterday and then 2 lastnight... I know.. I'm wicked lame :p:

today i had a total day of indepence..it was great!!!

none of my friends wanted to ride to Raleigh with me and do some shopping, so i went by myself. I teated myself to some truffles at Godiva, bought a new kate spade at belk, and a dress from anne taylor. (all very needed purchases :rolleyes: )

here's the catch- truffles were 50% off..haha, so i bought more than I should

Kate Spade- $195, GOT IT FOR $80!!!! it was the sam bag with croc. handles, i think it must have been marked wrong, marked down to $135 and then 40% off that thank to belks red dot sale, but the lady gave it to me

Dress- marked from $95 down to $59, final price $26!!!

I think i need to shop alone more often!!! :p

I want a Kate Spade BADLY. But I can never spend that much (even the $80!!!) for a bag.. I just can't do it.

aww...i know how you feel! I think the rain has set in...after all, it wouldn't be eastern NC if it didn't rain everyday! Whats everyone doing for the weekend? I have to take my dead guinea pig back to petsmart and then hopefully catch the concert on the lawn (if its not raining)...if not, its the gym, tanning bed, and cleaning tonight. All of us are soo tired from teaching this weekend, we are going to go out in grand style tomorrow night! :D

I'm sorry I haven't been around.. I had an icky week and I've been busy packing to move back up to school.

I'm at school.. partially unpacked in my lonely apartment now.. so I'll be posting a TON more! :)

I am excited though.. tomorrow.. 2 of my pledge sisters will be living with me for the next 2 weeks. Sooo.. that will take the loneliness out of the apt :)

^ Congrats on your new place and having awesome roommates. I have been sooo lazy since I graduated in '01. I still live in the same apartment I was in my senior year. I was doing my student teaching then and my parents told me that I could move into an apartment and live by myself if I could find one affordable. So, I moved off the hall and by myself. It worked out good that year, and living alone was much easier considering I was basically teaching all the time and the commute to my school was 45 min- 1 hour each day. I really didn't have time to hang out and party. After graduation, I got a job here in Wilson...seriously like 2 days afterwards! So...I figured, don't have to look for a job, already have an apartment, I can be lazy all summer! I've been here ever since! I keep saying I am going to move, it just hasn't happened yet. I hate moving. I miss having roommates sometimes though. Does anyone else live alone?

I live by myself and it is most of the time ok. But during the summer it is pretty bad because no one is here so I sit and do nothing all day.
I'm having a bad week because I am really frustrated with some of my sisters. They are acting really "clicky" and never invite anyone else to do anything. They are the only sisters I have in town this summer so it sucks bad. I just can't wait until my realy friends come back to town.

I am trying to make the cut for the volleyball team I coach. I had 35 girls try out...7 returners from last year. I can only keep 15, at the most. This is the worst part about coaching!!! So far I am solid on 13, 2 more spots to fill. UGHHHH!!!!! I have to post the list tomorrow morning!

We have a new system at school for the internet.. and I couldn't get on for 2 days.. it was driving me nuts! (I've been waiting for an email from my boss at home about work hours at night..)

How's everyone's day so far?

YEAYYYY... I am taking a whole day off tomorrow! I have to go to the dentist, get new tires on my car, and I am going back to the bakery to work in the afternoon (yum yum brownies!) I know, the school year just started, but it is the only time I could get a dentist appt. since I am a new patient. I rarely take off, much less a whole day! I am excited. I'm not even going to sleep late, I am going to get up and go to the gym and tanning bed! My appt. is at 10:45 and I would have to be back at school by 11:30 for a half day...so, I am getting much needed tires (there goes my extra $$$). The owner asked me to come in after 2 and work for her so she could leave early. I haven't worked there in a while, I can't wait to get my hand on a goodie! Hows everyone elses week going? Anyone got exciting plans for the weekend? I've got a wedding in SC! :cool:
