UCF parking is awful. I definitely do not miss it!
Parking decals were running about $70 & up for two semesters while I was in school. I've heard that they've gone down in price because there isn't enough parking for everyone (meaning it wouldn't be fair to charge people to park when there's usually no parking spaces).
Over the past 4 years, 4 new parking garages have been built. By the time a parking garage is finished with construction, another garage is needed.
If you wanted a parking space, you had to make sure to get onto campus at least 30 minutes before class began. People would wait down one of the lanes and as soon as they saw someone walking to their car, they would stalk them. The car would drive about 2 feet behind the walking student with the turn signal on. This way, nobody else would dare take the space (unless they wanted their car keyed).
Parking got considerably worse my senior year (last year). I showed up in the parking lot 45 minutes before class and still couldn't get a space. It pays to be a Greek at UCF because many of us just park at the house. The problem is that Greek Park is on the other side of campus from many of the buildings. It could end up being a good 15-20 walk to class. Partner that with summer time in Central Florida being every month of the year except December-February. People would show up to class dripping in sweat and not smelling too hot. My sisters and I use to carry deoderant and body spray in our book bags to apply before walking into class.

Cee-Jay, i have to say, NC State is HORRIBLE. when i went to state and broke my ankle, the school couldn't give me a handicap tag. here i am with a cast up to my knee and crutches and the university is telling me to do the 1 mile hike to each class

Yea no shit, Rachel sprayed some perfume on me before we walked into Mass on sunday because she said my Axe Body spray didnt smell good to her.

This is how it went:

*Cashmoney and Ms. Cashmoney park the car*

Ms. Cashmoney: Sweetie, I don't like that Axe body spray you're using.

Ms. Cashmoney: Here, let me put some of this on you. *Pshh*Pshh*

Cashmoney: Baby, what the phuck? I'm about to go in to church smelling like a woman.

Cashmoney: WTF is the priest going to think when I come up to take communion?

Ms. Cashmoney: He'll think you smell good.

Cashmoney: Yea, next thing you know he'll be wanting me to be an alter boy.

Ms. Cashmoney: Thats messed up, Craig.

Cashmoney: Well, thats messed up that you sprayed me with Victoria Seceret perfume.

Ms. Cashmoney: Whatever, lets just sit in the back. And dont forget to use Holy Water this time when we walk in.

LOL!

My old roomie (a ZTA) use to spray her dog after walks because the dog got all sweaty and it would smell up the apartment. We washed the dog once a week, too! If we washed the dog after every walk, her skin would get dried out. We bought doggie perfume and would spray it on the dog after walking her. heh heh. The poor thing would roll around on her back for an hour trying to get the scent off of herself.

OK, slight hijack. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread on parking........

parking at the stadium is $58 for the year
if you can get a sticker for a lot by your dorm it's $80 for the year
The churches near campus are selling spots for $150-200 for the year
We're selling spots at $150 per semester or $275 for year
TKE is selling spots at $200 per semester... and some Tri-Delts and DZs dont look around and are paying there.

parking was ridiculous when i was at tech. i can't imagine it now, esepcially with all of the construction they have going on. they are taking out part of the commuters lots to construct highway or something like that.

prices today....i think are:
commuter parking (to hunt for a space)--$118 (9month permit)
dorm parking (to still hunt for a space)--$139
garage parking (which wasn't available when i was there)--$268

thank goodness one year i lived 2 blocks from campus and walked to school. my sr. year all of my classes were in one building so i always parked on the street and risked the chance of getting a $4 ticket. it was a shorter walk and i don't think i got enough tickets to compensate for buying a permit.

When I was active, parking was $35 or so. I parked for free off campus at our chapter house and rode my bike in.

At work, I pay nothing to park.

When going downtown to the courthouse or whatever, I just park at my apartment which is also free and walk or take the trolley to where I want to go (which is 25 cents).

It's a good setup :D

Parking here just went up to $50 for the entire academic school year. I thought that was expensive. It used to be $25 and you could park anywhere. As close or as far away from class. I park right outside the building I work in. But, in the fall, parking is horrible...there is just never enough parking. The only vacant parking lot is by the stadium, a few blocks away from the main buildings, but people hate to walk, I guess.
