A seller on ebay has mislabeled your badge in two places.

AOII Pin

Just wanted all the AOII's to know that I have "rescued" a badge from Ebay. I purchased a pearl badge from a book collector who found some pins in a hollowed out book in an estate sale. I am so proud to own this beautiful symbol of our sisterhood.
Roses,
Buddrose:)

AOIIalum 11-12-2004 07:18 PM

Wow, that's stunning. Is the Alpha in rose gold? It almost looks like it.

AOIIsilver 11-12-2004 07:38 PM

I doubt the Alpha is in rose gold. The badge looks newer to me because of the chasing...but I have been sadly wrong before...

zinf77 11-14-2004 02:10 AM

That badge is beautiful. I wish I could get it.

gpfirefly 01-19-2005 10:54 PM

Hello ladies-
Sorry to crash your board, but I came across this pin on Ebay, and I think it's one of yours. If the seller is right, it seems pretty old.
I hope one of you can get it.

Here is a gorgeous AOII Badge from my chapter. I tried to find those initials and I don't see them so it might be from a former member...someone please get it! If I had tons of money I would! I want another AOII to win this for herself!

AOII_LB93 08-24-2005 04:13 PM

Bidding on it....I would love to have a badge like that. And yes, don't bid on ebay badges, it drives up the prices, etc....=)

Okay, so I really could not help but laugh at this comment about the book:

1908-1929 -- Handwritten in ink Chapter Book for "GAMMA of Alpha Omicron Pi" ..........what we understand to be the sorority side of the fraternity

Hi Ladies:

I was looking on Ebay and saw this Badge for sale. Anyway, where is Phi Tau chapter? I don't recall that one and my book is at home...anyone know?

Thanks,
K

Ebay Item: 7727959679

irishpipes 11-29-2005 12:07 PM

There is no Phi Tau chapter in the book, nor has one been chartered since the book.

ETA: The only thing I can come up with is that maybe the seller is misreading the letters - possibly it is Phi Upsilon (maybe the "Y" looks like a "T"??) That would be Purdue.

OleMissGlitter 11-29-2005 02:24 PM

I wonder that, they might have their greek letters confused :)

ms_gwyn 11-29-2005 02:57 PM

I really don't think this is an AOII badge...but it is interesting nonetheless

irishpipes 11-29-2005 03:21 PM

OK, now the badge in question is missing the Pi. How does that happen? Reminds me of our chapter house. Our Pi was constantly being stolen as a prank by different fraternities. I wonder if anyone will bid on the Pi-less badge.

OleMissGlitter 11-29-2005 04:55 PM

Yes the missing Pi is quite interesting. A sister could buy it and then have her Pi put on it if she wanted to get that tricky. (Like if she didn't have a pearl badge she could upgrade that way). I wonder wher ethe Pi is?

To do that would be very expensive. The pearls would have to be removed for soldering. I rescued a pearl badge with ruby points on the Pi that someone made into a pendant. I took it to a jeweler to have the bale removed. It was going to cost more than a new all pearl one.

The jeweler could have messed up, they did on mine. I was initiated at Alpha Lambda, but my badge had Tau Lambda on the back. Tau Lambda did not exist at the time of my initiation.

AOIIalum 01-11-2006 03:45 PM

Oh, my, that is glorious.

SnowLady 01-13-2006 09:53 AM

Wow! Diamonds. I know the seller didn't mention a time frame from the back - but could this have come when members could create whatever pin they wanted, or is this a special badge of some sort.

Ostentacious? (sp?)

honeychile 01-22-2006 11:31 PM

Sorry for crashing, but I have never seen an AOII pin like this!!

http://i24.ebayimg.com/02/i/06/0e/1b/40_2.JPG

It has six days, but the collectors are jumping all over it, and I think it should be in your hands, not a collector's. It's from the 1030's.

AOII_LB93 01-23-2006 12:18 AM

I've seen lots of badges like that. It's one of the choices we get when we get them. It's nice, and it's vintage, but early bidding drives the price WAY up...and while it would be nice, I know there are groups who are trying to save badges now.

Thanks so much for posting it, honey! You are very Panhellenic.
This badge style has been available since very early in our history and made the cut as "one of the most popular styles" that was standardized in the 1960's. :)
You are awesome!

Silver
