Do these people think that just because you have a ton of money and are famous that you can abuse your children.

Poor poor kids!

krazy 05-18-2004 02:43 PM

I wouldn't mind being named apple... It would be kinda cool. Something tells me this kid isn't going to have anyone making fun of her anyhow... If your mom is Gwyneth, and your Dad is one of the best musicians of the decade you were born, I think you are automatically one of the cool kids, I might be wrong, but I doubt it...

Why is everyone stressing about this?

No one is stressing. We're simply having a good time making fun of people who are richer and more famous than us, who still make bad decisions. and that's what it's all about...God Bless America.

LOL. Quote of the day, right there. :)

WTF?!!

Hopper jack wouldn't be so bad if it was the other way around.

Jack Hopper Penn. See nothing bizzare about that name.

I think I'll name my kid 25.

There was Six from blossom. George on Seinfeld wanted to name their kid Seven.

But my kids name will be 25 not Twentyfive.

My cat's name is 20. Yes, he is orange, and Tony Stewart (driver of the #20 Home Depot Monte Carlo) is my favorite driver.

Insert redneck jokes [here] ;)

And yes, I will admit that we debated a long time when I was pregnant about naming our son - I really wanted "South" -- I think that is a great name. It would've been perfect for Eli too since he is a lefty, and baseball is life -- he could be "South - the South Paw" -- too funny!

33- can I quote you in my sig line -- that was fabulous :D

33girl 05-20-2004 10:12 AM

yes, feel free.

It's one thing to name your CAT something weird. I mean, Mr 33 always says when he has a dog he's going to name it Door or something like that. He would never do that to a human child though.

ISUKappa 05-20-2004 10:47 AM

I have a friend who named her cat after the coliseum at Ole Miss; its full name is Tad Smith Memorial Coliseum but he goes by Tad Smith.

swissmiss04 05-20-2004 10:59 PM

Celebs will always name their kids something a little odd. So what? She had her baby overseas. So what? Didn't cost any of us a dime. Hopefully no one's losing sleep over it.

Not that I would do it, but I think Apple is sort of a cute name. But I agree w/ Russ. If she ends up being fat (something I seriously doubt) her name will really suck for her.

Glitter650 05-22-2004 02:32 AM

Yeah if she got Gweneth's genes she will be bones (maybe they'll call her apple core ?) I'm sorry... but how could you subject your child to teasing like this about your name ? don't get it... if I was that girl from the moment I understood and could talk I'd be telling people to call me Allison or Blythe :D it's not the most HORRIBLE thing I've ever heard... I went to Jr. High with a girl named Rosemary Plant.... (not kidding)

Hrm...I don't know. Don't forget now, you all are quoting books. The only thing would be that the currently very popular and famous English chef, Jaime Oliver, named his daughters Poppy and Daisy. That's about it. According to The Mirror, the most popular baby names in the UK recently have been:

Top Ten Names for Girls:

1. Chloe
2. Emily
3. Megan
4. Jessica
5. Ellie
6. Sophie
7. Charlotte
8. Lucy
9. Lauren
10. Hannah

Top Ten Names for Boys:

1. Jack
2. Joshua
3. Thomas
4. James
5. Daniel
6. Lewis
7. Matthew
8. Luke
9. Harry
10. Oliver

I don't see "Apple" on that list anywhere....

Just a few comments from the peanuty gallary:

1. Gwenyth was born to celebrities-they are NOT in touch with "real people". She is a nice lady I am sure, but she really lives in lala land. She doesn't know how anyone feels.

edited b/c i can not find where I read about her going to school overseas, but I swear I read it somewhere.

I like Gwennie. I really really do. But she lives in lala land.:)

PM_Mama00 05-22-2004 10:59 AM

Brooklyn received a dishonorable mention. What's wrong with that name? I LOVE that name!

Glitter650 05-22-2004 02:12 PM

Actually I kinda agree with Gweneth ... I think Americans are a little over cocky/... especially in our current situation. I mean being patriotic is wonderful and great and I would never live anywhere else and I'm damn proud to be an American... but right now at least... I wouldn't go shouting from the mountain tops... but that is a totally different thread

Boarding school overseas? I thought she went to Spence.

Exactly. That's not overseas. She's a well travelled girl, but she did not go to school (at least not for a long period of time) abroad.

smiley21 05-23-2004 01:29 AM

Jermaine Jackson named his child Jermajesty?!

i do not know what is worse- that name or the fact the Jermaine had sex with someone........eeewww:o

norcalchick 05-23-2004 03:44 AM

i was watching some show, and one celebrity said that the name Apple was going to become popular in the next 9 months. knowing that there are a ton of stupid people in this world, i don't doubt that they would copy gwenyth and her kids name...

Not years, but she did spend 6-12 months (maybe more) living in Spain with a family. I think I remember them giving her land near their farm as a wedding present.

jillybean 12-05-2005 02:11 AM

Gwenyth and Chris are expecting a sibling for little Apple...

http://www.tvguide.com/News/Entertainment/

AOIIalum 12-05-2005 08:12 AM

Get ready for Apple's new little brother/sister Grape, or maybe even Melon. Let's hope they don't get all crazy and name this one Banana...

(celebrity baby names like Apple and Pilot Inspektor make me all happy about little Violet Affleck's old fashioned, yet somewhat normal name.)

He should be happy with that. Otherwise, he could have ended up as "Ark" or "Commandment", since they're going for the biblical theme.

enigma_AKA 04-10-2006 01:36 PM

Good for them. They've been on the hush-hush with this new pregnancy/baby.

BetteDavisEyes 04-10-2006 02:17 PM

Moses. Huh. It could be worse. At least he's not kiwi.;)

macallan25 04-10-2006 04:52 PM

jitterbug13 04-10-2006 08:37 PM

Congrats to them! I just got my People today and they said she was due in the summer. They got that one wrong.:o
