I know...I grew up during that era. There is no way any of the BH 90210 crowd even looked like teens back then though. :)

Glad I am not the only one who thinks this... okay now I feel like a dirty old woman... AND I am only 22!

slight hijack...speaking of Colin Firth, I don't know what happened but I just sat down over my work spring break, (ahh the joy of teaching) and watched the movie "What a girl wants" like 10 times. For some reason I just love that movie. Colin Firth looks hot with the longer hippie style hair he had in the beginning and the guy who played Ian...man if I were 10 years younger (and I'm only 28, tee hee!). end hijack.

As for reading the POA I might, I just dunno, I hate going into movies where I have read the book and analyze the scenes that they changed or left out for cinematographic purposes, so I will just go and enjoy the "Potterness" of it. :D

True, but Hollywood does it all the time.

The willing suspension of disbelief is indeed a useful thing.

Daniel Radcliffe is (going to be) adorable. Glad I'm not the only dirty old woman (at 24 :p) out there!

Colin Firth and Liam Neeson would be awesome in HP. I'd also love to see Kate Winslet in one of them.

For those who asked, the major actors (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, and a few others) are contracted to appear in the first four Harry Potter movies--in other words, through at least Goblet of Fire. There has been no confirmation that they will star in any of the rest of the movies. Goblet of Fire is currently in the early stages of filming and in the next few weeks we should hear a lot of announcements about who is starring in such roles as Fleur Delacour, Viktor Krum, etc. They do have a release date scheduled for Order of the Phoenix, but that's very, very far away in terms of even beginning to nail down casting. I think that they will try to retain most of the actors, but you can bet that the kids are going to negotitate for more money. I know there's been talking of the actor who plays Hagrid leaving if he doesn't get more money.

As far as the sixth book, there have been crazy rumors saying it's coming out in September... I don't think we'll see it until at least summer 2005, more likely summer 2006.

Again, the best three news websites (I love them, have to plug them!):

I think that Dylan was actually in his early 30's when he was a Senior in high school on the show.

lol i absolutely love these books! i liked the movies- but i like the books a lot better- things always look better in my imagination then in how someone else interpretes-

but when i was in london- i lived like 5 minutes away from kings cross- you better believe i got pictures next to platform 9 3/4!! (they actually filmed it between platforms 4 and 5 though)

i'm so excited! :D

Luke Perry was in his late 20s when the 90210 kids were in high school. Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea) was the one in her 30s.

abaici 05-13-2004 12:50 AM

I'm a little too excited about this!!! I've already secured a child and I'm joining a children's excursion to see the movie.

Ironically, the same child I secured to camp out in the bookstore with me when the OOP came out.

DWAlphaGam 05-13-2004 09:23 AM

My boyfriend is planning a Harry Potter party to celebrate the release. We're all getting together to watch the first 2 movies and then we're going to a late showing of the new one. Yeah, we're dorks. ;) :p

I want an invite!!! Will costumes be required?

I guess I will have to organize my own party :)

polarpi 05-13-2004 01:29 PM

I think I may have to bring my grandmother along to see the movie....and she won't understand a *thing* that's going on....maybe we should have our own HP preparty before seeing Prisoner of Azkaban :)

zchiprincess 05-13-2004 03:25 PM

The Harry Potter party sounds like a great idea! Mind if I throw one myself? :)

I always thought she looked way too old to be a high schooler!

Harry Potter comes out a day earlier in Germany than it does in the States. I'm excited! :D

I wish I thought to do the same thing! Incidentally, I was studying there in England (Cambridge) while they were filming at Kings Cross station....every weekend when we were able to travel, we'd come to London through Kings Cross station, and we always saw Platforms 4 & 5 gated off....I think it took all of us a few weeks before we realized that they were filming HP!

I'm so jealous that the move comes out a day earlier in Germany! :p

TigerLilly 05-18-2004 05:21 PM

Today I bought my ticket for the Harry Potter triple-header, ending with the Prisoner of Azkaban at midnight. That's midnight on the 2nd of June, though -- counting the early release in Germany and the time difference, I get to see it 30 hours before y'all on the east coast! :D :D :D

I'm excited!!!

starang21 05-18-2004 07:56 PM

too bad my girl said we're not watching it.....

DolphinChicaDDD 05-18-2004 11:15 PM

I REALLY REALLY REALLY would want to see it in IMAX!!!!

I also feel like a dirty old 21 year old, and join in the feeling that they are all getting hot

ETA: I think the IMAX is only in NYC. any people in the metro area want to see it?? you can also pre-order popcorn and soda for $2.50- now THATS a deal

There are several IMAX theatres in Toronto.
Are they only releasing it on IMAX in New York?

Several cities have fans who have organized IMAX screenings... NYC being the most notable. For line parties and such, just check www.the-leaky-cauldron.org.

UGAnchora 05-23-2004 10:45 PM

Does anyone know if the IMAX screens will cut any of the movie out? I know they do that sometimes when movies are played on it, like "Apollo 13". Just wanted to check. the IMAX at the Mall of Georgia will be showing it and I'd love to see it there, but not if they cut any of the movie out!

DolphinChicaDDD 05-23-2004 11:42 PM

So I live in the greater NYC area, and a friend and I decided to hop a train over to Radio City for the premiere. We figured there would be a hundred or so people, but no worse than say, when NYSNC or the Backstreet Boys used to show up for TRL at the hieght of their popularity...

I was wrong.

Dead wrong.

I think the screams were greater than those for the aformentioned boy bands.

We heard the screams from quite awhile away. We didn't even try to get close to Radio City. Instead, we went to the bar.

I think I'll see it first in the movies and then in IMAX. A friend is over in Germany, so I'll wait for her to get back and see it in IMAX. I'll let ya guys know if I notice any differences.

chideltjen 05-30-2004 02:57 PM

Bumping because it comes out Thurs night/Friday morning!

:D

Rio_Kohitsuji 05-31-2004 02:25 PM

Question, did anyone hear CNN talking about Harry Potter and them announcing that Harry will die in the 7th book??

My dad had heard it on CNN and told me about it, I totally had a "WTF" moment! Mostly because I do know of the "w/o one the other cannot survive clause w/Harry and Voldemort, but dammit, J.K hasn't even finished the 7th book yet! It truely ticked me off! Anyone hear of this and can clairfy more?

I can see Harry dying in the 7th book. She's not afraid to kill off characters and talk abiout death in her books. She sugar coats nothing.

Intense1920 05-31-2004 02:51 PM

I can't wait to see this movie. I just finished the book about a week ago cause I wanted to read it before I saw the movie.

I have been hearing the rumors about Harry dying. My only question is if she's still writing the book and she knows the rumors are out would she change the ending?

Lady Pi Phi 05-31-2004 03:00 PM

My understanding is that she has finished the 7th book and she's in her final editing stages.

I saw a program about her on A&E and she said that she had finished the final book.

SSS1365 05-31-2004 04:35 PM

OMG, how many kids will be devastated if Harry dies?

But, the whole "one cannot live without the other" thing does foreshadow something awful happening to Harry. :(

Seriously... I mean the 5th book was intense enough with Sirius dying (and everything else that happened.) But to kill off the main character? Wow. If Harry does pass, I commend her for not writing the traditional "happy, fluffy bunny" children's book series, but even knowing the ending, I think the outcome will still shock me.

Anxiously awaiting the 6th and currently re-reading the 3rd.

Intense1920 05-31-2004 06:11 PM

Darn you chideltjen, I haven't read the fifth book yet. LOL.

queequek 05-31-2004 06:16 PM

/hijack

When I was in Glen Coe, Scotland last year, our bus had to stop for about 10 minutes because of the POA filming. I was lucky to be able to see some choppers, as well as cameras and all film people gathering around one of the loch, filming. My friend swore that he saw Daniel Radcliff walking by one of the trailer they had.

Now I am excited to see which part it was in the movie, as I can relate myself with the surrounding area :)

Can June 4th come faster?

queequek 05-31-2004 06:19 PM

Nothing against any group, but I wish our AMC theater had the children-free shows.

I would rather enjoying the movie than get crossed by noises such as children crying, baby squeaking and such, even though perhaps HP movies are all ages movies.

Anyway, still very excited about POA.
