I'm also planning on attending Boule 2002, which will be my first Boule. I live only three hours away from Orlando. I visit Orlando at least once a year. I love Universal Studios Florida. Maybe I should invest in their stock. Hmmmm http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I am planning on being at Boule 2002. I am about to put the deposit down on the airfare. All I need now is some good cheap hotel accomedations. Being an undergrad AKA takes a toll on the pockets. :( o if anyone knows any good info let a soror know!:)

Undergraduate Member At Large
Does anyone know what happens to the Undergraduate Member at Large if she graduates before her term is up? I am thinking of submitting my credentials to run at the next Boule, but I graduate May '03, a full year before the end of the term.
All I have found out is that the undergraduate member on the International Nominating Committee may maintain her position if she graduates mid-term, but I am not sure if the same is true for UML. Please respond if you know, credentials are due Dec. 15. So this post is also a sisterly reminder, if you want to run for Regional/National office credentials are due Dec. 15! Thanks! If it's the Lord will I'll be at my FIRST Boule summer 2002.I'm soooooooo excited. My chapter is in Michigan so my line sisters and I are trying to decide if we'll be brave and fly or take that loooong drive. I hope to get the chance to meet you all. Also if I can get off work I'm trying to go to Regionals in Ohio this April. Anyone else going to be there?

sorry about the sidebars, Sorors. We can return to our regulary scheduled Boule 2002 thread! :) |
Many hotels are along International Drive (from my understanding) therefore, when seeking a hotel (thinking about your dollars) just ask for International Drive. Weren't we discussing trying to ...?

I'm saving ALL my pennies because I will definitely be attending my FIRST boule as an Alllpha Kappa Alllpha Woman summer 2002- Florida here I come!!!!! :D :D I am soooooo excited. I live in NC, so Florida's not that bad of a drive (I'm too chicken to fly). BUT I'll be there if I have to rollerskate!!:D I can't wait to meet all of you.
As a side note, I was reading the PinknGreen.com website (which isn't up and running yet) and it was noted that the "hotels for the 60th Boule are the Rosen Center, Rosen Plaza and the Wyndham on International Drive." The editor, (who by the way is so sweet) also stated that Nationals "has a contract with these hotels and must honor the room block" and that Nationals "requests that sorors book ONLY at those hotels." Just thought I'd past that little tidbit along. I don't know anything about prices though. Sisterly Skeeeeeeee-Weeeeeeeeee My Sorors!!!!!!! |
Hotel Rates
Have the 'Alpha Kappa Alpha' rates for the Boule' hotels been released? Just wondering. I'll make my reservations at the beginning of the year.
Skee ya at Boule' Sorors! |
Just bringing this to the top!
Happy New Year, Sorors! I hope all those who were making plans to attend this year's Boule are still doing so, and I hope all of our new sorors are as well.
Who's volunteering to coordinate the GC gathering? I'm willing to work in concert with other sorors on this. Anyone bringing their honeydos? Mine is coming and will be needing something to do, so let me know. ;) |
Warning
I just came back from Orlando and was sharing my hotel experience with one of my friends. She informed me that your Boule would be held in Orlando this year. So here is my warning...
DO NOT STAY AT THE RAMADA ON JOHN YOUNG PARKWAY!!!! The service was horrible. The staff is not attentive at all. They have this type of 'attitude' that is indescribable (sp?) They are also not very professional so if you are expecting a certain type of service and etiquette, this is not the place to be. While I was there our toilet had 'issues' BUT it was fixed in a timely fashion. The only saving grace about the hotel was that it was close to the highway and accesible to other highway routes. Also be prepared to pay tolls in Orlando. There are probably other ways in which you can get around without having to pay tolls but my friends and I got caught more often than not. On a positive note.... There are lots of nice restaurants and loads of places you can go to buy souvenirs (sp?) There is an outlet mall I believe on International Drive that is to die for!!!!! So bring plenty of money ;) . International Drive seems to be the major street for lots of hotels, restaurants and other activities. If you want to go to the parks they are all close by. So that is my piece of info that I tought I would share. |
Okay I am planning to attend BOULE as we speak, got the hotel reservations, need flight info, but I guess I should pay for the conference registration :) So who is still going? ...where are you staying (private email if don't want to say publicly) ...also how much are you seeing flights for ...I, of course am coming from NYC .....
Skee Wee yall!!! LadyAKA |
i'll be there, i don't know where i'm staying though. i can't wait;)
|
Sorors I had my reservations since the Spring of last year!!! I will see you all there!
|
Still going!
Just purchased air tix last week ($132 pp from Chicago via Southwest), sending my registration $$ this week! We're staying (my hubby, brother, sister-in-law and myself) at a property on I-Drive, close to the convention center.
I am very excited to meet all my sorors, and any friends who might be in the area...who's planning our gathering???? I'll be on the committee! |
GC/other online forum get-together?
Sorors heading to Boule:
Any interest in planning a GC gathering or participating in other online forum gatherings being planned for Orlando? Email me if you're interested in planning something together. |
a couple of us sorors are trying to put together a Social for Boule. Soooooooo, if there are any of you out there who have planned/hosted a social and or are interested in working on this with us, please email me ASAP so we can get started on this. There is much to do and not a lot of time to do it. Also, if you are planning on attending, the gathering, please email me ASAP. I don't know about other sorors, from me and another sorors planning at the SARC we had soror RSVP which was a TREMENDOUS help when it came to party favors, so I need to have you all let me know that you are planning to attend. Also, extend the invitation to sorors who are not on GC and make sure to send in their names as well. I think that we should cut off the RSVP list sometime in June, (possibly the last week in June) in order to give the restaurant/caterer/ etc. ample time to prepare sufficient food. I know soror Discogoddess is down:). I know they had an awesome time at the SARC social, as I arrived to late to attend but my roomie/host plugged me in on the happennings of the evening........
Another Pink and Green Production |
I'm there....
Hey....I just sent in my registration; have my hotel reservations; and made flight arrangement. So I'm definitely in da 'hizzzouse' (as you young'ins say:p )
SORORS REMEMBER....IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING....YOU NEED TO TRY TO SEND IN YOUR INFORMATION THIS WEEK. AFTER THE 15TH YOU HAVE TO TACK ON EXTRA LOOT....and you know you could use that money for some pari (or nalia....as some say). I'm definitely down for a mixer.....I'll help as much as I can Soror Disco! Hey...is anyone attending the leadership conference on Saturday? Let me know...maybe we can meet up for lunch and then go over. Skee-ya my sorors! |
Sorors it is still in the works, but it is proposed that I will be a delegate. As a NEO I can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
