Hey Now...
Pretty Lady, In true sisterfriend spirit I felt compelled to respond to you post because YES, it was ME that started this thread. I honestly respect your opinion, but I must clairify one thing... Disappointed... YES...Hating...NO I AM FROM HOUSTON-I have TRIED to support Destiny's Child since DAY 1, back in the day when they were performing at the Astrodome. In my opinion the first two albums were "alright" but this one is NOT.. I call it like I see it, Destiny's Child (Beyonce & her back-up singers) are not immune to criticizm. When you "blow up" as they have, you are prone to "scrutiny" At this level in their career they should be "on point" My Opinion...they are NOT. I don't blame you for sticking-up for a group that you support 100%, if someone started a thread "trashing" My Group: "Earth Wind & Fire" I'd ask the moderator to "shut it down" **smile** We CAN AGREE do DISAGREE! [B]Ladies, It is soooo funny how everyone is so envious of these ladies. I know it's your own personal opinion but it is a trip. So much that they previously had a 100+ thread of one member and now a 30+ thread on the group. Really y'all need to stop hatin' on these very talented young BLACK women. And how many of overweight women on here (whether it is 15 pounds or 50 pounds) have responded to "Beyonces' weight problem". Come on now, she isn't the least overweight. TRUE, she should not have had on the pants she had on on MTV but still. Somebody, somewhere likes their music because of their current status in the business. While some of you are putting down their album and trying to figure out how you are going to pay this bill and that bill Destiny's Child is living large and selling millions of albums. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now I am definitely not a hater, envious, or whatever other adjective you want to use- I look pretty darned good if I do say so myself without wearing 15+ pounds of makeup and size extra small pants, knowing that I'd be more comfortable in a medium http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif. The one thing that I am against is the unequality in this group. Beyonce may be the lead singer, but if there are two or more in the music industry, that is considered a BAND, GROUP , or DUO. Beyonce is not the only member of DC so therefore she should acknowledge her counterparts as well. I think that treating Michelle and Kelly the way she does is a form of hating on HER part, because they aren't allowed to shine and to show what they can really do, because Beyonce is the so-called "star" of the group http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif Why do you think Kelly and Michelle are stuck with the darker hair pieces, while Beyonce wears the blond/light brown hair pieces? Because the eyes are drawn to lighter colors! Y (A lil inside info from a sista that knows how the biz works...) You shouldn't hinder the actions and ways of others to make yourself stand out-we all know that the girl can sing, but dang, let the other group members have their chance to show us what they can do!! I don't care if her father is the manager & mother their stylist-DC is not just about her! I also think that Michelle/Tenetria has a prettier singing voice, but that is another topic... Here is my question for all of us that have posted on one of the Beyonce and children boards to think about: if Beyonce would've came out as a solo artist, would she have been successful? ------------------ "Mind ya own, stay true to ya own, be ya own." I only caught the ending...somewhere around the time when she convinced Her man to run away with her......
I actually thought it wasn't all that bad. Beyonce is so dramatic on stage she didn't have much of a problem playing the "Stank H%*" role. http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/funny/browsmiley.gif I enjoyed the parts I did see. I'll catch one of the thousand re-runs they'll show to see the rest. What did you guys think? |

For the show as a whole, I'm still shaking my head because I am not really sure. But one thing I do know for sure, that Mekhi(sp)Phifer is FIONE!!!! http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/love/love.gif ------------------ Holla - 2001 KL |
I watched the entire hip hopera and I must say I was quite surprised. I personally thought it was going to be about as good as hot trash and I expected the worse, but it wasnt half bad considering it was only about a hour and fifteen minutes. Ill make my criticism short and to the point:
1. The story line moved to fast in the beginning, there was not enough character development 2. I believe that the key to any movie is for the audience to be drawn into the story, I dont feel that it was accomplished given the limited time and the script. 3. The acting could have been better but its MTV so I cant expect to much 4. I could have done without seeing so much of Joy's behind. With that aside I think Beyonce did a good job as Carmen, it could have been better but then again so could the script. |
MICHELLE FINALLY SPEAKS! I read the interview in the latest Jet and Michelle does all the talking but you can tell she was coached on what to say.
|
Did anyone catch them on Saturday Night Live? I missed it but my friend said they were in a skit making fun of themselves. There were jokingly describing their roles in the group and Beyonce said something to the effect of her dad running everything and Michelle said something like, "and I'm just here." It was suppose to be a joke but it sounded pretty accurate to me.
|
On a five-star scale, I give it two stars. With all the hype surrounding it, I thought it was "must-see tv". I will not be tuning in for the re-runs. I do think Beyonce has some potential. I just wasn't feel the movie overall.

Yes, I think the album is garbage! The lyrics, beats, all of that are terrible! And I do think that Kelly kisses Beyonce's behind and so does Michelle, they all can sing but goodness! It seems that one a goup hits superstardom, then they put out terrible albums because they can do that and it'll sell, like 112, Puffy, DMX, and many others. What I say about Destiny's Child, it was good while it lasted, let's all just listen to our writing's on the wall and think about how well they used to be.

In the spirit of "NON-HATING"
Destiny Child (Beyonce's) Fans; I guess you all are in for a treat, they (she) seem to be EVERYWHERE...Beyonce was featured in the People Magazine's 50 of the World's Most Beautiful People Issue, the group will be on the cover on the next issue of Rolling Stone. All I have to say is that "I hope that they are doing MAJOR saving & investing" I would hate for them to meet the same fate as Former "Teen-Sensations" have...Don't yall remember Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, New Kids on the Block, The Boy's, The Jets.....Need I go on?? |
Has anyone ever thought about writing the group (NO Hate Mail :0) but really telling the group the concerns of their fans and putting to them some intelligent questions. As far as Michelle not talking (poor thang) some questions I feel she shouldn't answer anyway since she wasn't around when some of the group's major landmarks occured. I am feelin' the voice, I wonder why she didn't stay with United Harmony. Kelly does support Beyonce a lot, however I don't think she feels obligated to do so....I think that's just her personality...I mean she verbally rooted on United Harmony more than Beyonce. And as far as Beyonce not rooting on her bandmates that isn't true, she's always talking about how blessed the group is to have Michelle.
By the way I loved the album and I am a 100% fan.....and since I brought it up maybe I will send a letter to Destiny's Child citing some of the feelings of their fans. I tell you all if any response is given...though I doubt it with their schedule. "Pain is weakness leaving the body." |
has anyone seen beyonce's feria commercial? it looks as if all that hair is hers, so why does she wear weave?

looks as if....LOOKS being the operative word http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif Welcome to the magical world of television http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif: |
I had to share this....
It looks like were not the only ones to notice Beyonce's spotlight hogging. Today I was playing with my mom and my 4 year old niece, we were dancing and singing, etc. Then she told us.. "OK GET BACK! I'll be Beyonce and yall be the other two." LOL http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |

I don't know what anybody else thinks, but as far as I am concerned Beyonce has already gone solo. Kelly and Michelle better get on down to Jobs and Benefits and start looking. ALSO, in an essence Kelly and Michelle are homeless. They better grow up and start looking out for themselves. I'm not a big DC fan, but when I see what I consider talent I give credit where credit is due. One thing I now for sure is that MTV is the master at creating stars out of those who are necessarily stars, but products that can be marketed. And I think that is what is happening to DC and Nelly (I know I will get disputes on that observation). I also know that all is fair in the entertainment industry, but those plumber pants are sickening. It looks like her ass should stank. Foregive me for the vulgar language. But just as hard it was for me to say it is just as hard for me to loom at it. ewwww.
|
On a more "positive note", DC has donated $500,000 to their "home" church in H-town to build a recreation facility called DC3 or something to that effect.
I heard this on the radio this morning. |

Why don't they say that they donated the money to Beyonce and Kelly's home church? Michelle is from Illinois, I'm pretty sure it would've been a long commute for her to attend that church while growing up.

i heard the remix to "bootylicious" last night, and i like it better than the original. it has a more groovy vibe. well, as groovy as you can get, considering the content of the song. what i just don't get is why they have to remix every friggin single they release!
|
1 mo thang: i heard that there is a video for bootylicious. has anyone seen it?
[This message has been edited by MeezDiscreet (edited June 06, 2001).] |
Yes I've seen the video. They were playing it on MTV this morning.
Anyway, it's like most of the DC# videos. Bright colors, lots of dancing, and 2 0r 3 thousand close ups of Beyonce'. They even show her during the other girls solos. All in all it wasn't very impressive. It did make my day though because at the very end of the video Beyonce flexes a gold tooth. Extremely unattractive on her but it was funny. I laughed all the way to my car. ------------------ Pretty is as Pretty does...and I do it all the time. |
I saw the making of the video on MTV and the actual video.....Not a bad video but Beyonce's wearing them damn booty crack pants again.....is that the new cleavage or something? What about people who aren't "endowed" in that area? Are they gonna be wearing "the miracle butt" to push up their butt cleavage? Butt implants?...I can see it now......

Ok, so I watched the MTV Making of The Video Bootylicous last night....
Why was there this one part where Beyonce was standing there chomping on a piece of watermelon talking about "3 of my nails just popped off". i wouldn't be surprised if she kept the gold tooth. it really fits her personality! (LOL) I'm sorry, but I really don't like the song. And they went on and on about how the video was a tribute to Michael Jackson. I can just see him at home (sitting with his animal friends) thinking "oh no please don't tribute that mess to me". I didn't like the part where they were dressed up like Michael Jackson because they were wearing white tube socks with stilleto black pumps. Mama Knowles didn't coordinate that well. |
I hate this DAYUM Bootylicious song!!! I get so upset when I hear little girl walking around talkin about ..."i don't thank you ready fo dis jelly..." http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif
On the radio it was reported that parents were complaining about the lyrics of the group's latest single and Beyonce responded By saying it's just a "self esteem anthem" I was like WTF http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif Ok I'm trhough venting........ http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |
They'll get over it! If they groved to the "Thong Song" last summer, and you know they did! They can live with "Bootylicious".

Do yall remember when songs used to leave it up to your imagination and they weren't spelling everything out so plain? |
I like the hook of Bootylicious, but I think the part where they say, "make your booty touch the ground", is OVER THE TOP.
|
Now I'm not saying the song has any education value http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif, but I'm just curious as to why people are trippin more off Bootylicious than they ever did about "Thong Song", "Shake Ya A*s", OR "Back That A*s Up"? What's the difference? Do y'all see DC as being more influential because they're more visible, or what? Just curious.
|
...and in that song "SOMEBODY" is really "TRYING" to sound like "MARIAH" What's REALLY going on? And when did it become customery to sing about "freakin'" and "Praising the Lord" on the same CD??
LOL...I'm soooo glad someone finally said something about the Mariah Carey impersonation!!! That is the FIRST thing I thought when I heard that song...and I KNEW MC wasn't doing guest appearances on DC's album. Okay, artists have ALWAYS sung about freakin and the Lord within the same breath. Just like Sisqo praising the Lord for his award for the "Thong Song." Actually, "Bootylicious" is SUPPOSED to be about loving yourself and your body regardless of its makeup and what others think of it. RIGHT. I'm hatin...so what http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif DSTDeuce Spring 98 |

For the record, I'm not REALLY hating on DC. I think they're extremely talented. I could really care less about their business dealings, who's on who's bra strap, or how stank Beyonce is PERCEIVED to be. They don't really care, either. It has NOTHING to do with how famous they are and how famous I'm NOT...or how much money they have and how much money I DON'T have http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif They're doing their thing...but, it's important for everyone in the lime light to remember that what goes up (eventually and unfortunately) must come down http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif I hope they do some investing in a possible future beyond their present day successes. Ok y'all why am I feelin that song "Bootylicious" http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I'm not even a DC fan like that. I don't really care for the remix, but I'm really feelin that song. I really like the hook on it. Call me crazy if you want. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif
