:p Here's a New York Post story: March 1, 2004 -- Wesley Snipes, who played an escaped convict in the "Fugitive" sequel, is now a real-life wanted man. A Manhattan Family Court judge has issued an arrest warrant for the tough-talking 43-year-old action star after Snipes twice failed to submit to a paternity test requested by an Indiana woman who thinks he fathered her 3-year-old son. The "U.S. Marshals" and "Blade" star has been wanted since July 25, when the judge issued the warrant and set bail at $250,000. The woman, Lanise Pettis, is a former cocaine addict and prostitute who claims the child was conceived when she had sex with Snipes in a Chicago crack house in 2000. The 32-year-old welfare mom (ST's comment -- why is this necessary?) says she's known Snipes "all my life," but the Bronx-reared actor has denied he's the father of little Israel Pettis, 3. "I don't think he might be the father because he's refused the test," Pettis said in an exclusive interview with The Post. "It's because he and I had sexual activity." She said that she can't understand why Snipes hasn't complied with the order. "I would have thought that anyone who has denied it to the hilt would have done anything to clear his name." Sources said that police would not actively pursue Snipes since the order is a bench warrant in a civil case. Snipes' lawyer, David Matlof, did not return calls. |
Hmmmmm first he had JUNGLE FEVER and now he hanging out with CRACKHEADS!! :o

Andre 3000 Wants To Attend Juilliard
Tue Mar 2,10:00 AM ET LAUNCH Radio Networks OutKast's Andre 3000 has already earned a Grammy Award for album of the year for his latest release, Speakerboxxx/ The Love Below, but the talented rapper recently explained that he would like to study classical music. During an interview with Rolling Stone, Andre 3000 said, "I want to go to Juilliard to study classical music. I've been thinking about it for about a year. But things got kinda busy. This record took off. I can't be in school right now. But I'm taking saxophone and clarinet lessons. I'd study classical composition and music theory. Like, now, I was working on songs for Gwen Stefani (news)'s album, and I could tell her how to sing them but not the range." The rapper also addressed the break-up rumors that have been surrounding OutKast since the group issued its latest release. He said, "There'll be two more OutKast albums. I'm willing to accept that no matter what I do next, it may not be as big as 'Hey Ya!' or OutKast. But it's a growth thing. Paul McCartney (news) and John Lennon (news) never did anything as big as the Beatles. But they still did some cool sh-t on their own." Next up for OutKast is the release of a new single, "Roses." The group will also begin production on a movie in May for HBO. In the meantime, Andre 3000 is busy filming his role in the Get Shorty sequel, Be Cool. The mild-mannered rapper will play the role of a hardcore rapper in the film, which also stars John Travolta (news) and Cedric The Entertainer. |

janet continues to be punished
Disney Dumps Janet Jackson-Linked Statue
(AP, 03/02/2004 8:01 PM) The Walt Disney Co. has quietly shelved a life-size statue of Mickey Mouse inspired by singer Janet Jackson , who was roundly criticized for a risque Super Bowl halftime performance. The 6-foot, 700-pound statue was one of 75 unveiled at Walt Disney World in Orlando last fall to celebrate the 75th birthday of Mickey Mouse. The statues were inspired by celebrities such as tennis star Andre Agassi, actress Jamie Lee Curtis and comedian Ellen DeGeneres . The statue inspired by Jackson was clad in a tight black outfit similar to one she wore in 1990 after the release of her album, Rhythm Nation 1928. It was replaced by a spare statue designed by Luis Fernandez, an in-house Disney artist. "Considering all the controversy it drew, we talked it over for a couple of days and decided it would be best to replace hers with a new one," Gary Foster, a Disney spokesman, told the Orlando Sentinel. Foster didn't immediately return a phone call to The Associated Press. Jackson's bump-and-grind performance with singer Justin Timberlake during last month's Super Bowl was capped by Timberlake ripping a piece of clothing off to reveal her breast. |

The only stereotype in a movie I can think of was in the movie "Full Metal Jacket", but I don't think she was on drugs. You may remember the line from a 2LiveCrew song. I will just say this "me love you long time". hijack/ Come to think of it the last time I saw a crackhead/whore was in Oakland at the TacoTruck over winter break. She placed her order then was working the street, it was something else. In Alaska we had crazy hookers out on the street in the cold that will work for whiskey, or are on meth. Meth is easier to make, so I think that is why there weren't any real crackwhores in Alaska. /end hijack |

Anderson also had a chart topping song in the 80's with singer Gloria Loring. The song "Friends and Lovers" was a love theme for the soap opera Days of our Lives. Anderson died after a long battle with leukemia. Will there be a Sex in the City movie? Maybe not, after the show's finale last week there was talk of a movie, but actress Kim Catrall who plays the racy "Samantha" says she doesn't want to sign on for a movie because she doesn't appreciate the way she was treated by Sarah Jessica Parker during their six season run. Sarah played "Carrie" on the show and she also served as the show's executive producer. Kim claims her character became too popular and that's when the jealousy started. Kim wants to have approval of the script and the director. The girls have already received a bonus for agreeing to do a movie but if Kim doesn't sign on can the movie really happen? |
Anita Baker Begins Recording New CD
1 hour, 48 minutes ago Add Entertainment - AP to My Yahoo! By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY, AP Music Writer NEW YORK - After 10 years in musical seclusion due to family turmoil, Anita Baker (news) is returning to the spotlight. The Grammy-winning R&B songstress has signed a deal with Blue Note Records to produce at least two albums, and expects to release her first project before the end of the year. AP Photo "I'm so excited," the singer told The Associated Press in an interview on Wednesday. "I do see that there is a demand for what I do, and my fans are still there." With a deep, sensuous voice that recalled Sarah Vaughan (news) and a classic soul sound, Baker became one of R&B's premier artists in the late '80s and early '90s with hits like "Sweet Love," "Rapture" and "Giving You the Best That I Got." But she dropped off the music scene nearly a decade ago after releasing the album "Rhythm of Love" in 1994. At the time, Baker, who is married, had two young sons (now 10 and 11 years old); a mother suffering from Alzheimer's; and a father dying of bone cancer. "I couldn't focus on the music at all. I tried, but each time I tried, that door was closed to me," she said. "My parents were dying, and I couldn't write." So she took a break to take care of her family in Detroit, where she lives. Baker never considered hiring anyone to take care of her family so she could continue her career. "She took care of me, she didn't hand me off to someone else," Baker said of her mother. "I'm really happy in retrospect that I did it that way, because she breathed her last in my arms." Baker's father died in 1998; her mother died in 2000. After her mother's death, she felt could pursue her career again. "It was almost like I was given permission when she passed." Baker had a deal a couple of years ago with Atlantic Records after being wooed by its legendary founder, Ahmet Ertegun, but an album never materialized. "I couldn't fulfill my obligations to him and I really regret that, because he's a wonderful man," she says. Baker began touring, but she doubted whether people would buy CDs of her smooth, adult R&B in today's marketplace. "For the past five years I had been channel surfing and all you see is MTV and kids. The demographics became very very young. I figured I was relic and my time has passed. And I figured I had something to offer in the jazz arena," Baker said. But when she contacted Bruce Lundvall, head of Blue Note Records, about recording a jazz album, he told her he'd be interested in an R&B album from her as well. "She is one of the great artists, no question about it," Lundvall told the AP. "There's not another voice out there like hers, it's instantly recognizable." Baker has already written songs for her new album, which she says "has the same elements of R&B, jazz and gospel influences throughout, because that's just me." But Baker says she's interested in working with new artists, such as Alicia Keys (news) or bluesy guitarist Robert Randolph, who wowed the Grammy audience last month with his performance. Baker says she's not going to conform to today's musical scene: "Even at the height of my career, I was always not quite with it, I was always off doing my own thing." And she says fan response to her recent concert performances show there's still an interest in her own style. "I didn't know that anybody would give a hoot," she laughed. "I'm pleasantly surprised." |

Beyonce's Band Foils Florida Carjacking
3 minutes ago PALM BEACH, Fla. - Singer Beyonce's band came to the aid of a 91-year-old driver, chasing and holding down a suspected carjacker. Police said Reynold Caleen, a great-grandfather of nine, tried to fight off a knife-wielding suspect when he grabbed the elderly man's wallet in the parking lot of a Walgreen's store Tuesday — knocking the suspect's knife out of his hands and kicking him several times as the pair wrestled to the ground. Lead guitarist Shaun Carrington, bass guitarist Kern Brantley and drummer Nisan Stewart, in town to rehearse for a tour with the singer, pulled in front of the suspected carjacker as he tried to drive the elderly man's car out of the parking lot — and chased him on foot when he got out and ran. A Walgreen's employee tackled the suspect; the bandmates held him down until police arrived. "Gotta protect society as much as we can, you know?" Stewart told WSVN-TV. Caleen's wife, Faye, confessed the couple never heard of Beyonce. "We're more of the John Wayne (news) generation," she said. The suspect was charged with armed carjacking and battery of a person over 65, a felony in Florida. Beyonce's 22-city tour with Alicia Keys (news) and Missy Elliott begins March 12. |

MARCH 2--Five months after filing for divorce from Lionel Richie, the singer's estranged wife has just weighed in with a whopping--and remarkably detailed--demand for at least $300,000 in monthly support payments. According to Diane Richie, 37, the couple has led an "extraordinary extravagant lifestyle" and that she had "no limit on what I could spend," according to the below Los Angeles Superior Court declaration filed last week. The Richies, who wed in December 1996 and have two young children, live in a $40 million Beverly Hills mansion, with its 30 rooms spread over 18,000 square feet. "In addition to nine full time staff members, we also employ people to maintain our plants, detail our cars, care for our pool, groom our dog, maintain our aquarium and a painter for regular touch ups on the house," noted Richie. She also made sure to point out particular monthly expenses that Lionel, 54, needs to cover: clothing, shoes, and accessories ($15,000); dermatology ($3000); laser hair removal ($1000); massages ($600); jewelry ($5000); gifts ($5000); and vitamins ($500). There are plenty of other costs Richie listed--like $20,000 annually for plastic surgery and her nine-year-old son's $125,000 boarding school tuition--but TSG will let you discover those chestnuts. According to Richie, she began dating the pop star in 1984, when they met at the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles (she was an 18-year-old dancer). Since those teen days, the performer "paid my rent and/or mortgage, purchased automobiles for me, and regularly bought me expensive gifts," recalled Richie http://www.thesmokinggun.com/graphic...ieinside32.jpg |
