I suspect negative publicity, plus the fact that many past Real Worlders have looked like hot-mess azzes, particularly those who make a career of being "reality TV celebrities," if there is such a thing.
RW was in San Diego, my hometown, and I think that a lot of people weren't too geeked about it. There's been backlash against the show for years (I used to watch it fairly regularly until the Seattle season).

It isn't that the union leaders didn't want the Real World coming to the city. They didn't want $8/ hour workers coming into the city. Real World was welcome in Phila as long as they paid the prevailing wage.

I remember watching one of the last episodes of a season where they showed snippets of people in the city protesting the show. I didn't understand it. I can't see where the negative publicity comes in. The show promotes local businesses by showing the name of just abut every place the cast goes into. When I watch the show and the cast members are acting a fool, I don't think of it as a reflection on the particular city because all of the cast members are from different cities. I wish they would film in Tampa. There is plenty of trouble for them to get into here.

We were posting at the same time. I definitely understand the union's stance. I was asking about the population of the city in general. On the show that I saw, citizens were like protesting across the street from the house and that kind of stuff. It just made me wonder.

Ditto, that is exactly how I feel. Why would I look down on the city just because the Real World people acted a complete and utter fool.

speaking of the Famuan, Cameran from RW/San Diego stated that he can be the "milk in her coffee anytime". that gave me a chuckle. he is rather nice-looking;)

Does anyone remember "Ghostwriter" from PBS....? One of the dudes in the house was on that show, he was Hector on Ghostwriter. I thought he looked familiar.

I thought he was joking too!! I was just waiting for him to be like SIKE!! He's still a cutie though, I'm just not his type.

On the Wendy Williams show a few weeks ago, there was a caller who was a white female call in and was talking about the black guy on RW. She was saying that he was gay, and he hung out and went to the gay clubs here. Now while she was saying this on the show, he was on the show as well and said that he wasn't gay, so I don't know what is going on with him. I mean he said it on the show, it's obvious that he hung out in the gay clubs here, because ole girl on the radio talked about all the places that they went which were gay, but for him to deny it on the radio, but say it on TV, I'm like what's up with that.

He is a cutie...and I was cracking up when he said he wears "tims" and "tims".

OMG....when he was alluding to MJ and Landon that he was gy, did you see their faces. I thought I was going to fall out laughing. It was a trip on how he was trying to let Williw know that he was gay as well.

Finally MTV, a good season of RW!

I didn't get to see the show last night :( so I'll have to catch the rerun.

But I DO remember that show Ghostwriter on PBS!! :p I remember Hector! I used to love that show. See now I'm gonna have to check out their pictures on the MTV website to see him all grown up! LOL!

Actually, at first I didn't think he was gay either, butthen something (don't ask me what b/c I don't know, lol) he said or maybe it was a facial expression...whatever it was, I was like "he is gay!" And then he confirmed it...Yeah...but he's still a cutie :).

What about the guy from, I think, last season that went to Morehouse? I never watch the Real World anymore, but I saw 1 or 2 shows and he seemed to be reasonable and drama free.

I saw the show where 2 of the roommates got arrested and he was walking around with a "Free (whateverhisnamewas)" sign on his shirt. Funny stuff.

Ok...I got it out of my system. He is too cute and just a gay as he wants to be. I have to agree SnS... it was something about him. I am sure that there was an extra flip of the hand in there that sent up a flag for me. Either way... I understand and applaud MTV choice to show another side of Homosexuality.... but why with this one.

Well, so far it's ok....... the previews show some drama. I agree with the suggestion that it's time to go to some southern cities. NO doesn't count b/c that's a party city. Even though they might not get millions of applicants, I bet you could still get 7 interesting people to move to .......... West Virginia, b/c they're just looking for a new experience in a new city.

I'd forgotten about Jacquese (sp?) I only saw a few episodes of RW San Diego, so he wasn't on my brain. I was much more into RW NY and San Francisco.

I haven't posted in a while, but I just had to see what you all had to say about this season of the Real World.

Why my brotha got to be gay. He really hurt my feelings. My jaw dropped when he told Shavonda he was gay. :eek: I really can't get over it. I just saw the rerun of it and I still can't believe it.

Although I thought the scene between him and William was a little wierd. You know when they were talking about on of the beds. :confused: And then I thought that cream leather jacket he had on was a little gay but I didn't really think he was homosexual.

He's still a cutie. I guess I'll get over it one day.

I just had to post because y'all reacted how everybody reacted, lol.

Man the Real World really fooled me this year, I thought the gay dude was the ONLY gay dude, I guess my Real World crush is over, lol

I think everyone who said they could tell is LYING! :D Except for him feeling comfortable with Willie there was noooo indication. Don't front. I have good gaydar, but it's all about how a person reacts to you IRL- you cant tell from tv!

I can't lie I was tripping I called a soror and my best friend and made them turn to MTV. He is so good looking I am like tripping! That type of stuff makes you think hard about the DL brothas even though he isn't on the down low.

Watched last night. My comments:

* Disappointed that Karamo is gay. But, I have no right to feel that way, but I do. I co-sign with everyone else, he's nice to look at.

*Ok, Landon and MJ do not seem very manly. But, men of a certain hue are not...well, let me stop.

*Is it just me or does MJ look like the Angel Gabriel, or at least, a cherub?
