"The Man Who Sold the World" is one of my all-time favorites (although the first time I ever heard it, it was being covered by Nirvana).

Heard Sound and Vision the other day. Previously, it never really hit me as much. But now I realize the error of my ways. Brilliant.

(I can't believe I listened to all this in elementary school!)

I secretly wanted to marry David Bowie, even when his sexuality was questionable.

Blue jean-i just met me a girl named blue jean
Blue jean-she got a camouflaged face and no money
Remember they always let you down when you need em
Oh, blue jean-is heaven any sweeter than blue jean
She got a police bike
She got a turned up nose

Sometimes I feel like
(oh, the whole human race)
Jazzin for blue jean
(oh, and when my blue jeans blue)
Blue jean can send me
(oh, somebody send me)
Somebody send me
(oh, somebody send me)

One day Im gonna write a poem in a letter
One day Im gonna get that faculty together
Remember like everybody has to wait in line
Blue jean-look out world you know Ive got mine
She got latin roots
She got everything

Sometimes I feel like
(oh, the whole human race)
Jazzin for blue jean
(oh, and when my blue jeans blue)
Blue jean can tempt me
(oh, somebody send me)
Somebody sent me
(oh, somebody send me)

I saw Labyrinth when I was 5 years old. That movie terrified me. :( But I do love his music.

FSUZeta 04-05-2008 07:38 PM

my 2 favorite guys, bret and gemaine from flight of the conchords have an entire episode devoted to david bowie-it is hilarious. their song "bowies in space" covers several of bowie's more famous songs. you might be able to pull up their song video on you tube-some of their stuff in on there.

I love David Bowie's cameo on the show Extras and the song he makes up about Andy Millman (Ricky Gervais).

David Bowie: [sings] The little fat man who sold his soul...
Andy Millman: The little?
David Bowie: [sings] Little fat man who sold his dream...Chubby little loser...
David Bowie: [turns round and plays piano] Chubby little loser... National joke...
David Bowie: [stops singing] No, not chubby little loser...
David Bowie: [sings] Pathetic little fat man... No one's bloody laughing...
David Bowie: [sings] The clown that no one laughs at... They all just wish he'd die...
David Bowie: [sings] He's so depressed at being useless... The fat man takes his own life...
David Bowie: [stops singing] No, no
David Bowie: [sings] He's so depressed at being hated... Fatty takes his own life...
David Bowie: [stops singing] Fatty? Fatso?
Maggie Jacobs: Fatso, I like fatso
David Bowie: Yeah, let's go with fatso
David Bowie: [sings] Fatso take his own life... He blows his bloated face off
David Bowie: [stops singing] No
David Bowie: [sings] He blows his stupid brains out
Linda: But the twat'd probabably miss!
David Bowie: [stops singing] Yes, Linda, I like that!
Andy Millman: Yes, so do I. It's brilliant Linda.
David Bowie: [sings] He sold his soul for a shot at fame... Catchprase and wig and the jokes are lame...
David Bowie: [sings] He's got no style, he's got no grace... He's banal and facile... He's a fat waste of space...
David Bowie: [stops singing] Yeah, yeah. Everybody sing that last line. One, two, three...
David Bowie: [sings] He's banal and facile... He's a fat waste of space... See his pug-nosed face... pug, pug, pug, pug
David Bowie: [stops singing] Again!
David Bowie: [sings] See his pug-nose face... pug, pug, pug, pug. The little fat man with the pug-nosed face... Yeah! pug, pug, pug, pug. Little fat man... pug-nosed face... pug, pug, pug, pug...

There's a new bar in town called Bowie Feathers. It's above a live music venue and features a few pictures of Bowie so I'm assuming the bar is named after him. I was telling a coworker about the place and can you believe he's never heard of David Bowie?

I played him Changes, REbel Rebel and Under Pressure. The only song he recognized was the last and that's only because of Vanilla Ice...facepalm...

I love Bowie. I've grown up hearing his music but didn't really get into him until High School when I went through a little glam rock phase.... T-Rex, Lou Reed, Velvet Underground and Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars.

One of my favorite Bowie songs "All The Young Dudes"

That was beautiful

NWguy 01-25-2016 01:52 AM

Saw him in concert 3 times, one of my absolute favorites. I'm not usually effected by the deaths of most celebrities or musicians, but Bowie's was difficult to mentally digest. I had to go for a walk that night, and it was freezing out.

I have sadly never seen him. :(
And yes, the collective anguish has been astounding.
