Woohoo! That's awesome. During the middle of the week I can go 3 days without seeing my roommate, so i'm glad to hear that! I felt so out of the loop!

Ditto on what Fire said... there's always those girls that are dying to join a couple of the houses and only go to those houses. Then they drop when they don't get pref invites. Hopefully it's somewhat of a reality check for them, but chances are they'll just try to rush the same houses again in the fall.

It seems like a lot of houses are going to be at or very close to total!

Flashback! I can remember these three women who rushed together, simply would not be broken up and one of the three was always cut from the houses they wanted. They finally all got bids in the Spring Rush of their junior years - and immediately announced that they were "settling"! I can happily state that they didn't go to a house with Pitt alumnae represented on GC!

I was thinking about numbers yesterday and it occurred to me that something is flawed with the system currently. Despite the fickle nature of some rushees, the number game is not helping the situation either.
The amount of open spaces in informal recruitment was really small. Most houses could only take no more then 10. The majority were around 4 or 5. So, if six houses could only take 5, four could take 10ish, and one could take thirty-- That does take us up to around one hundred spots. However, the chances of all of those girls actually going to all of the houses is slim. Maybe Pitt does need to expand after all.
Just a thought.

Does anyone one have the offical numbers for all of the sororities?

Pitt's system sounds alot like my school's COB time. The strange thing is, we have more girls come out for COB then we ever do for Formal, despite the fact that Panhel pushes Formal so much. We have COB in the Fall and defered Formal in the spring (the school's choice, not ours). I mean, each sorority had about 20-30 eligible girls come out to each of the 5 NPC info nights. We had 50 total come to formal.

I know the feeling, when there are only a few spots open, and you have at least twice the number of girls come to the info night. It sucks, and we always tell everyone to come back in the spring, and no one ever does.

This was the biggest informal we've had for some time. Our formal recruitment is in comparison to schools in the area, fairly big (though not big enough considering the size of the school)

Everyone is getting pretty close to ceiling. There is a rather large group of juniors in quite a few of the sororities this year. I'd like to see the effects of their graduation before talking of raising ceiling or adding a new group, but as you all know I am more in favor of adding a new group!

I would agree with fire1977 - unless I miss my guess, next year there will be a LOT of juniors graduating. Unless the Fall Recruitment really has a huge turnout & quota, I would be very much against playing with ceiling or asking another chapter on campus until after we see the effects of that recruitment.

For as long as I've researched the Pitt Greek System (thank you, Mama, for all those old yearbooks!!), there has always been one chapter struggling while the others kick tail. This is one of the first years that phenomenon hasn't played out big time - but then, there are only the 11 sororities. For some reason, that 12th chapter is the death knell to someone.
