*Poplife* I agree with you Prince all the way!!

*Sweetsista* As far as Chante Moore goes, I have her new album, and it's okay. Although, some of the tracks had to grow on me. I haven't seen the video, she's rubbing up on JD?!

I really like Amiel L. voice, but never got the chance to get her cd. I heard a couple of songs from it and really liked them.

If anyone has the new Dave Hollister album let me know what you think of it. I'm thinking about picking it up, but want some opinions first.

My favorite tracks on Carl Thomas CD is "Hey now", "Superstar", and "Lady Lay Your Body" it gets much play in my CD player!!

I love that song too! I wonder if she's going to have the slow version on her CD? You know that clip that's at the end of the "Can't Go For That" video? I have the single for it and it also has another good song. I think it's called "Tell Me Who It Was"? Thus, Tamia already meets my 3 song requirement for me to get her CD! lol http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Anyone know when it comes out?

Ideal08 12-11-2000 03:34 PM

I haven't heard anything about when Tamia's CD comes out, but I'm sure it won't disappoint, her last one was pretty nice!!

And I, too, want to hear reviews on Dave Hollister's CD. I'm thinking about purchasing that, too. Someone told me last week that he was a Kappa. I had no idea.

Hey, what's up with the new LucyPearl line-up? I think that Dawn is out! Has anyone heard anything about this?

Really?? I haven't heard anything about that! I hope it's not true because I'd hate to see the group break up http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif That would be the second group she's left! I'm related to Dawn, so of course I like to keep up with her! Let me know if you hear anything else.

kitten03 12-11-2000 09:32 PM

I deserve a study break so let me chime in.

I'm loving Sade's new CD. I only have some songs on MP3. My beau is testing my patience to buy it. Never ask a man to get something you want quickly. Anyway, she's got some typical stuff but I haven't heard much with her usual slow sad style. She's got that I'm having a bad day flow. But definately check out #1,#4,#6,#11.

I do love Jill Scott, Amel L. is the bomb. I like Monica better. She just sounds better to me. R. Kelly just looks fine. But i'm definately not feeling his new rap kick. He's reinvented himself more than the Vice President. I'm feeling some Soulquarian stuff. My girl is a nut for those quarians. Christina is way better than Brittany. I would buy the Maxwell rendition of Mary Had a little Lamb. By the way, what is Prince up to? Anything new on the way?

From what I heard she didn't even know that she was being replaced! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif Another Destiny's Child type drama! Dawn should probably go solo anyway. She has a nice voice and she has her own unique style.

Is anyone else here old enough to remember Art Of Noise's Moments in Love? How about Luther's Superstar? That was THE BOMB BABY! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I LOVE that song. That's the kind of song you play when having a romantic interlude http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif LOL. It was out of print for a few years, but it's available now.

You'd be shocked to know my age, and know that I remember Art of Noise's "Moments in Love". I used to love that song!!! I just thought about it the other day, and it's still one of my favorites! I also remember Superstar, but I have the greatest hits of Luther Vandross...such a classic. The other day, I had to go buy Bobby Brown's Don't Be Cruel, an "oldie" but a goodie (before he got with Whitney, and they became the Crackhead couple of the year). I'm dying to find the old Anita Baker, her first album...I always loved that. I guess I'm an "old soul".

AKA2D '91 12-12-2000 12:57 AM

Dawn should go solo...She and Terri were my two favorite members of En Vogue.

Her voice is strong enough to do so...it is very recognizeable. I wonder what happened?
Maybe it was a "cat" fight that went on? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif I always wondered about Rapheal Saddiq....mmmmmmm

I remember Moments in Love... what about that other song they had...I can't remember the name, but they had this little girl in it with them and they were doing this WEIRD stuff with metal and instruments...

When is Anita gonna come out with something new? We ain't heard from her since 93 or 94...she must be doing that Sade thang. lol

I'm with you on Luther, but I have to say that the Art of Noise was just that, noise. They played that song tooooooo much on the quiet storm, Every prom theme was "Moments in Love" for years after that. It made me want to vomit after a while. lol. I can still hear it ringing in my head....dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun (sound of the music)... then repeat... why did you do this to me..... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Make it stop.

Ideal08 12-12-2000 11:30 AM

Let me just tell yall about Moments in Love. That is one of my favorite songs of all time!! I have been searching for the remix cd for like a year, out of print everywhere. Even the Record Exchange didn't have it. I finally found them on Napster. As much as I'm against burning cd's, what else can I do??? I am getting those remixes!!!!!!! And what is this about Lucy Pearl??? I was really diggin that group! I like the male/female group thing. There's a new one out, I have no idea the name of the song or group, but I saw the video, and I liked it!! And I'm just gonna say one more time: I LOVE MY MUSIQ CD!!!!!!!! Lawdhamercy!!! I love it!! Ok, I'm done, now! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

*kitten03* Oh, the last thing I heard that Prince had come out with was the album with "The Greatest Romance" which I own. It didn't get much love though, I heard he only sold like 800,000 copies or something like that. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif

I know I'm going way back with this one, but does anyone else own that Tracy Spencer album besides me? (the one with "still in my heart")

Ideal08 02-13-2001 10:26 AM

Ok, I had to pull this back up because I am LOVING this new India Irie (sp?) song. I have refrained for a couple of weeks from bringing it up, because they weren't playing it on the radio too much. But now I think it's getting much play. I love the music and the message. "I'm not the average girl in your video and I'm not built like a supermodel, but I love to love myself unconditionally because I am a queen." I love it. Is anybody feeling me??? I have GOT to find out when this CD is coming out.

Monique, my student told me her name is India Arie and she is on NAPSTER http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I like the song you mentioned as well. Nice positive message. I am so glad we are getting this funky soul music in circulation because for a minute I thought we were losing some talent.

HopefulJD 02-13-2001 02:43 PM

I mmust agree that Jill Scott's CD is blazin'. But have you seen the girl perform live? its better than the CD. In Decemebr I saw her and Musiq together in Philly, and she was phenomenal (Musiq was OK but sound was terrible--it was too loud) Sunday, my husband and I are going to see Ms. Badu and Musiq (again--hopefully he'll sound better)

Those 2 stay in my CD player!

convinced,

i think you are referring to charlie wilson from the gap band. (i think thats his name, but he's definately from the gap band.)

i think aaron hall sounds a little him, too.

Ideal08 02-13-2001 02:46 PM

Ok, Carla, I'm gonna have to come to your house. We got some serious burnin' to do! LOL! I'm am SO diggin' this whole retro-soul thing that is going on right now. Too smooth, too smooth.

Soror AKA2D'91, Tamia's cd is pretty tight. I'm definitely feeling the Pop Quiz. I have given many a pop quiz in my day. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Speaking of soul music, another soror and myself are trying to plan a trip to the SoulMusic Festival in Miami on Memorial Day weekend (http://www.soulbeachmusicfest.com/). So far the only listed acts are Jill Scott (which would be enough for me) and Erykah Badu. Here's the rest that I'm hoping for: (Oh my goodness, they need to let me book the groups, it would be off the HEEZY!!) Common, Guru, Musiq Soulchild, Bilal, the Roots, hell, all the Soulquarians. But that's just my fantasy. But anyway, who else is game? We are trying to look into package deals.

AKA2D '91 02-13-2001 06:18 PM

Now Soror,

You know that's AKAtude's wedding weekend! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif

Taykimson 02-13-2001 10:36 PM

Current music (songs) I'm into (the list is short as you can tell from my other post I'm trying to build my old school collection).

*Jon B - Don't Talk (I cannot get enough of that song!)
*Monica - Just Another Girl

OOH!! Girl, I'm diggin' that Monica song, too!

Dang, I did forget that was Soror AKAtude's wedding weekend. Poor planning on my part.

Little32 02-14-2001 06:01 PM

I actually just picked up A Little South of Sanity, a live Aerosmith album. I am definitely diggin' it and eagerly awaiting their new album, Just Push Play. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Ideal08 03-19-2001 11:33 AM

Ok, I can't wait til next Tuesday!!! India Arie and Bilal! That Bilal CD is going to be TIGHT!!!!!!

What CD's are you thinking of adding to your collection, or did you just recently add?

The last ones I bought were all soundtracks: Disappearing Acts, Down to Earth, and love jones (been putting it off for some time now). The Roots and Amel Larrieux have a nice song on the Down to Earth soundtrack. So does Jill Scott.

I am really chillin' at work today, can yall tell? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

exquizit 03-19-2001 11:52 AM

I'm feeling this new artist, her name's Sunshine if I'm not mistaken. The song is "I've Heard It All Before".I like it and I hope to hear more of her music. I'm also down with Balial and India Arie(sp)

Classy_Diva5 03-20-2001 01:13 AM

Maxwell is definitely on my list of heavy-rotation cd's. Embrya was a great one, but didn't get the recognition it deserved. I also have the MTV Unplugged Live as well as his debut cd. They are all great.

Dave Hollister's new one is the s*#t!!! I LOVE this cd. There isn't one song on it that I can say I dislike. His website is www.davehollister.com

I know that I'm a bit late on this one, but I still haven't picked up Sade's new cd...anyone have any comments about it? Is it worth buying??

Yeah, that Sunshine Anderson song is the bomb. I'm listening to it right now, courtesy of Napster! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Yeah, that Dave Hollister CD is off the chains. I think my favorite is #14, "I'm not complete, unless you're with me." Love it.

I agree, Embrya didn't get hardly as much play as it should have. "Submerge" is my favorite cut on that CD. Ooh, I love that song!!!!!!! hmmmmm-mmmmmm!!!!! Whew... sweet nostalgia....

Ideal08 03-20-2001 01:59 AM

Ok, I know I need to quit. But I have one more. I am diggin' Missy's new song, "Get yo' Freak On." Now, she is not a lyricist, however, her and Tim make some tight beats. And the beat to that song is SO sexy, at least to me.

I'm sure I'll be back later with some more! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

It's tight, yall. I like it. I like it a lot. Well worth the wait, and definitely worth $13. I'll tell you what though. If somebody would have told me about 5 years ago that I would be diggin' ANYBODY playing an acoustic guitar I would have laughed in their face. But I like this CD.

Ideal08 03-28-2001 09:36 AM

ok, one more for today, and then I'm really going to get to work. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Koffee Brown. I was hesitant about this purchase. But I like the CD. I like the whole Mars/Venus thing they got goin' on. It's tight. My only complaint: too much profanity for R&B.

goldhottie06@aol.com 03-28-2001 09:52 AM

I'M REALLY FEELING JILL SCOTT,AND MUSIQ!! UT, I JUST PURCHASED JON B'S CD. IT PRETTY GOOD. HE HAS SOME REALLY NICE SLOW TRACKS. NUMBER 2 IS ALL THAT!!!!! AND SO IS # 14. OVERALL HE WHOLE CD IS LOVELY. TAKE A LISTEN.

NOWorNEVER 03-28-2001 02:47 PM

I am really feelin' IndiaArie. Especially her song "Brown skin." The CD just dropped yesterday and if you like Lauryn Hill, erykah Badu, or Jill Scott...you will really like IndiaArie.

Girl, I feel you. I like that song, too, but I can't use it as my them song. Love DOES love you!!!!!! Girl, I got a new theme song, as much as I HATE to admit it: Survivor. I feel like writing down the lyrics and sending it to my ex, LOL! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Back to Eric, I'm about to get antsy, because I'm wondering if he is coming out with a CD soon, or just this single. Anybody have any idea?

How about release dates for Sunshine Anderson, Maxwell, or Bilal?? Bilal was supposed to be in stores on 3/27, and it was NOT! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif
