Weight gain is natural with child birth, and if you are the mother of my child, my love is endless and without prejudice, but if your gaining two or three dress sizes because I'm treating you to some nice restauraunts, somebody going to Jenny Craig.

Again as with MidwestDiva, the question of who am I to tell her what to do with her hair? Nobody, I guess according to you. If I can't be consulted and asked my opinion on such a radical change, then I don't need to be with ya. Just as if you were short and natural and then shoewd up with a foot of weave. That aint the girl I fell in love with.

My love is unconditional, what I like isn't.

My statement about white men referred to your statement about "why is long, pretty hair so coveted in our race". I was just giving you an example of how others have the same emphasis on not wanting their women to cut their hair. Hair is coveted in every culture. In most cultures, the cutting of a females hair is taboo and only to be done as a sign of morning or great personal shame.

Love, peace, and hair grease. Or to be politically correct, should that be carrot oil?

ROTFLMAO

"My love is unconditional, what I like isn't."

I know that's right! I'm going to have to use that one.

3. Black people are not the only "folk" that watch videos. They choose women that will also be appealing to more than one ethnic group.

This maybe true, and if so it speaks a great deal about how the rest of the country feels about dark-skinned women (they are not appealing), and how some of us can easily accept it and use it as part of their argument in support of the behavior.

Who are you telling? Most of us know that and have acknowledged it. There are some people out there that think that every black video is casts by black people. My point was...if a man is casting a video, and light, bright, almost white women are what he likes then that is what will be reflected. I did not...I will repeat...DID NOT say that it was ok. I just said that it happened.

I don't understand how you can actually say that I am supporting their behavior. In fact my post was totally against it! I'm very aware of the controversy of dark vs. light in the black community and I'm appalled by it. Maybe even more so than you.

F.Y.I. I have observed MANY non-black men that find dark women very attractive. In fact sometimes I think BLACK men have a bigger problem with it then other groups of people.

oh if any of you can get a copy of "Soul on Ice" by Eldridge Cleaver then read the first chapter at least, it talks about why some black men pursue white women or have a facisnation with them. Eldridge held no punches on that subject http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif peace.

First of all, I didn't know we were competing http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

And secondly, I never said "you" were supporting the behavior, I said "People" use these types of remarks to justify why it happens. If you don't fit the bill don't swallow the pill.

I was just responding to the posts.

Well, that's kind of hard to tell when you have my post sitting in the middle of the box with bold lettering. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif It's just seemed that way to me when you said "what's up with this" and then had part of my post right under it. That indicated you had a problem with what I said.

I just had to get this out. I think we are just too critical when it comes to the color complex. I think that this topic has received so many hits because Black folk are still caught up in the color complex issue. Just look at the language used here to describe people like myself who are lighter skin..."high yellow", etc. I think that some valid points have been raised here....but one that is indirectly related is the whole issue of who someone chooses to date.

Why did folk get upset when they saw Babyface with a light skin woman? Maybe it points to an anger about the prevelance of interracial dating these days. My response to that is this: I don't care who the brother is dating...I'm glad when he does choose a sista....and look, there are so many complexion choices...from butter pecan tan to rich ebony. But beyond that, brothers are looking at more than the superficial these days...women must become more attuned to those things and stop concentrating so much on externalities....and beyond that...make sure that you are happy with yourself...'cause if you aren't no matter what you look like, no one will want to be in your company. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

i'm a dark-skinned sister, and what i find the craziest is the fact that i hear more ignorant skin color comments from more black people than i do whites. i once had a very light-skinned friend, and she used to make comments like," he too black", or "oh my god she's black as hell", or "he's cute to be so black". i mean really what kind of mess is this. i guess because i grew up being tormented i've learned to find people attractive because of features(beard, straigth teeth) not because of skin color. i've found beautiful black men in every shade, and unattractive in every shade, also.

I would like to apologize for all the light skinned people who have caused all you dark skinned people so much prejudice, torment, and harassment. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Just kidding:

I agree with DS and MN. Every time you turn on the TV, go to the movies, and in society, light skinned is often favored and dark skinned is often unfavored. Personally, I think this ignorance is brought on by the center of beauty being placed on the Vicotorian model or the white, blue-eyed, long hair, and petite woman. I love BLACK women of all shades, just as long as they got a BIG booty! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

When MN appears on jet with that green women, my soulmate will be on page 47 with a humongous http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif BUTT!

LOL!! You know only older women used to press hair... so I went to this 70-something year old lady who had no air conditioning in her shop. I was always convinced my sweat would make my hair "go back" before I even had a chance to make it outside! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
