Meantime, I thought it was starting to snow here earlier (northern Fairfield) but it isn't really. *shrug* I'm sure it will be here before long... |
It's snowing in Central Ohio. Don't expect much (1-3") but it's darned pretty!
|
I am doing a snow dance for Rock Hill, SC. I hope it works!
|
I work in NJ and it started snowing at 10:30. THe snow started coming down heavily at 12:00ish, and by the time I left at 3 pm it was a damn blizzard. Inches ont he ground.
I was so relieved to get to NYC! Compared to the weather at work this is a pleasant sprinkle of snow! |
wtf, mates? It's tapered off a LITTLE, but it's insane.
Bye bye Friday night plans. It's not even going to be a Blockbuster night. :( |
Classes I saw today up at school in the Bronx were off the wall. Anytine flakes were spotted there was a mad dash to the windows. I'm glad my little darlings get some fun in the snow this weekend!
I'm not leaving the house. Not even for drinks in Manhattan with some teachers. Waaay too cold for my little self. It's pizza and beer for me! |
I am about to go home from work. I went outside to check to weather. Snow flurries in ATL all ready. Burr I tell ya.
|

I've been in New York for the past couple of days. I was originally booked on a 4:45 PM flight to Denver, but by about 11:00 AM the snow had started much earlier than it was supposed to, so I grabbed a cab to LaGuardia and changed to a 1:45 PM flight. By 12:30 or 1:00 PM it was snowing really hard and very windy. The airplane for my 1:45 flight was diverted to Kennedy. As the afternoon wore on, no planes were landing at LaGuardia at all. I figured it might be better to go to JFK, but United said nobody was getting in there either. So, thinking the storm might ease up a little, I rebooked on a 7:00 PM flight to Washington Dulles, connecting to Denver. It was cancelled about 4:00 PM. So I booked myself on an 8:00 AM flight Saturday Morning. In fact, pretty much everything was cancelled. EXCEPT... I saw a United guy looking out the window holding a hand held radio, watching the runway. He told me that one plane was going to attempt to land -- from Denver. So, I hung around, and it did (new plane, automatic landing system) It was the original 4:45 flight I was supposed to take in the first place. So, I got in line (which hardly moved), then another line, then the line at the gate where the plane had just come in -- and got on a standby list for my original flight, which by that time, of course, was overbooked -- hoping enough people had given up and gone home. Well, I did get on the flight -- which left about 45 minutes later than originally scheduled due to loading and straightening out all of the standbys, de-icing, etc. Of course, I got a middle seat. Well, we took off, and after all of that, we arrived in Denver one minute EARLIER than the original schedule. So, bottom line is that I spent 5 1/2 hours at LaGuardia changing flights, in order to get in a minute early in a much worse seat. Go figure. |

Glad you're home safe and sound. Hope the NY trip was worth it! |
According to weather.com we're slated for 15-20 inches. :(
Gotta love weather.com. They've stopped just short of saying that anyone who ventures outdoors will be nominated for the Darwin Award... |
I went to Macys at 10 AM and it was so empty. The only people I saw were tourists who rarely have snow so they were excited.
"If we get off at 34th Street, we can see the Empire State Building." "I can't wait to go to Prince Street and see SOHO." I was home at 11 AM. Today there were few cars and no traffic. The subway is the only way to get around the city. DeltAlum, I hope that you enjoyed your stay in New York City. :) |
DeltAlum, I hope that you enjoyed your stay in New York City. :)
I always enjoy my stay in the city. Saw "Wicked" Thursday night. On the other hand, NBC had shots of folks sleeping on the floor at LaGuardia. I don't enjoy it that much! It looks like they'll be there until at least tomorrow. It's amazing that our flight got in at all. |
will it ever stop????
so in dutchess county, ny its still snowing!!! it started at about 7ish friday night and i think we got about 18 inches so far. they are predicting snow for tomorrow too!!!!!! will it ever stop????
|
well i have a class on saturday so i was happy to hear it was cancelled. it really put a damper on my weekend - nobody wants to go out! Why couldn't it have snowed during the week?
Oh well, now i am just hoping they don't cancel Greek Goddess which is scheduled for tomorrow. My chapter is trying to win for the 3rd year in a row! |
I know, no one wanted to do anything this weekend. Unlike you, I am kinda hopign the postpone Greek Goddess....the weather is horrible and dealign with the buses tomrorow night won't be fun. Hopefully I can make a phone call and get a ride but still. I am looking foward to seeing it, esp seeing my pledge sister up there! :)
I love the snow but hate the cold...can't have the best of both, right? Warm snow? LOL |
Oneonta: Stranded
So I was up in Oneonta, New York for a colony induction ceremony on Friday night. I was going to leave at 4:45pm on Saturday to return to the City. Buses were cancelled. Nothing was going through the Catskill Mountains, unless you had a death wish or were going to drive at 10mph. I hopped a cab back up to the Oneonta College camp grounds (cool facility) where we were holding an overnight retreat. I got to get to know an amazing group of gentlemen. Being in Oneonta yesterday was like living in a postcard. It was that pretty. And that cold. I left back for the City at 11:45am today, got in at 4:35 and got into my apartment at 5:00. I'm beat. Enough snow. I'm ready for springtime.

I'm sittin in my lil office at work, and I have two huge windows.
I feel like I'm sitting inside a Winter wonderland inside of a snow globe. It's so pretty! But of course there's some jackass tryin to do doughnuts in the parking lot across the street. |
The snow is coming down fast here in the capital of the world.
|
It is a winter wonderland in NYC. It will snow until 4PM when it will turn into sleet and then rain. YUCK!
|
While the amount of snow here in KC is no where the amount of snow the East Coast has received--- it snowed here!! We have about 10" on the ground. I heard on the news that the snow we received yesterday is more than we received all last season.
The kids and I have been playing out in the snow, building snowmen, snowball fights, and my 5yr old is using his boogie board to "surf" down the front steps. It is just a shame that Missouri doesn't know how to clear streets. They tend to be a mess!! -wendi |
I drove through the snowstorm from Boston to Fairfield County today.
I should have stayed in Boston. |
I live in GA, so no snow for me. :(
|
When I was outside earlier, the snow had turned into rain. The sidewalks, streets, and the curbs are a mess with slush. Yuck! Plus it is very slippery.
|
Everything is ice!
