No, you are definitly not the only one. I hate to use this word but I thought they were extremely disrespectful.
Not everyone is lucky enough never to have to work a day in their life and sponge of daddy for all eternity.
Some people have to work minimum wage jobs to earn a living. Yeah they probably don't want to be there either but they have to be.
The least they could have done was show some respect to the rest of the employees.

rainbowbrightCS 12-10-2003 01:54 PM

I think it is great that the town is so mature compared to the girls.

Paris is Hot, but Nikki is really just a blonde thin girl with money.

ThetaGrrl 12-10-2003 01:55 PM

I want to see a show where they take some farm girls and put them up in the Hilton's digs for a change... you know, let them not have to work.

I've worked since I was 15. A strong work ethic, I think, is a really admirable quality in people. These girls look ridiculous, and just plain stupid.

jharb 12-10-2003 02:32 PM

That episode last night was ridiculous! What they did at sonic amazed me...if I had pulled stuff like that at the places I've worked I would have been fired on the spot. Instead they are given leeway because of the cameras.

mu_agd 12-10-2003 02:36 PM

has anyone else read the recaps on TWOP for this show? i find them more enjoyable then the show!

GeoffZ 12-10-2003 02:53 PM

Entertainment Weekly.com also does a funny recap every Wednesday.

Well....kinda editing. Kinda reality. I think that the townspeople started out being nice and welcoming towards them, but they were so disruptive and was apparently nasty to everyone (including pouring bleach on a bar's pool table, from what I heard.....) that they had to cut filming short so they could leave. Seems like the townspeople were ready to run them out of town.......

So I'm sure the nasty looks you're seeing were definitely there, but probably not until the end of filming. Surprisingly enough, it's not news anymore around here (at least in LR)....there was some pre-show publicity, but we're on to bigger and better things around here.

Can I be the fist "farm girl" to volunteer for this show? I've been milking cows since I turned 10, and did other chores for several years before that! It's my turn to do nothing! Oh, wait, that happened while I was in college, except I paid a lot of money to do that, and I worked 2 jobs my senior year. Hmmm...

SoCalGirl 12-11-2003 03:31 AM

I thought the sign was funny! The boss lady and townies driving by laughing seemed to too. Though, yes the boss lady did her best to cover and punish them, she was laughing about it. I think if you put a couple of punk teenagers out there on the first day on the job they'd have wanted to do the same thing. So I can't say I completely blame the girls.

Nicole keeps growing on me. I said to my mom "She's so sweet! Let her have her heroine if that's what she wants!" (Yes I have a wierd/kooky sense of humor.:D)

My biggest props last night to Paris. Did you see how much footage of her they were able to air of her cleaning out a grease trap without her bitching and moaning about it!!!:) I don't think I could have done that.

texas*princess 12-11-2003 03:41 AM

my favorite part was when they were in the sonic slushie suits and went over to the supermarket. after the boss went to go get them they said "we were just trying to get more customers!" :p

its called the anna-nicole show.

kdonline 12-11-2003 11:57 AM

What's the name of the town they were in?

I wonder if the local paper had reported on their antics during the taping...

i doubt it. i bet every place they worked had to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

texas*princess 12-11-2003 12:16 PM

that whole sonic episode was the first episode I have seen and it will probably be the last. I have a feeling it is going to be the same thing every epsiode.

They whine because they had to wake up early.

They get a job.

They do anything and everything possible to screw it up while they are there.

The End.

absolutuscchick 12-11-2003 02:32 PM

ahhh I can't believe I missed it!! Stupid family members in from out of town....

so i watched it last night. i don't think these girls can do anything right. they like to cause trouble and turn something good into a mess. i can't believe nichole got people to kiss her butt. well, tonight they get in trouble for something and we get to see them violate a cow.

MeLikey 12-17-2003 07:43 PM

Last night's episode was funny... and I liked how they stuck up for Justin... I'd totally do the same thing if I had a younger brother!

SparkliiQTMTSU 12-18-2003 12:03 AM

I can not believe that they had to steal things off of that guys account. I mean shit theyre rich enough do they really need to get things from a damn Co-op? I mean really!!! thats just nuts and you didnt really see Paris all about it at first which I was surprised about but it was all Nicole.

Nichole

Munchkin03 12-18-2003 12:24 AM

I was surprised to learn (via People or US) that Nicole Ritchie is Lionel's adopted daughter. She's also Michael Jackson's goddaughter (I guess back when he was still Cool).

DeltaSigStan 12-18-2003 12:30 AM

At least Ally and Jamie think they're smart, good people. These two bitches know how retarded and superficial they are.....
.

Gina1201 12-18-2003 01:10 AM

The funniest thing tonight is when they were playing the game and Paris and Nicole knew all about Cannes and DKNY but did not know who the Sec. of State was and Braxton did. He's a little cutie.

GeoffZ 12-18-2003 01:36 AM

Nicole's fake crying was riddiculous. She's an idiot. And I can't believe she's going to trash the bar in the next episode. They're going to drop kick her out of town.

MeLikey 12-18-2003 07:50 PM

I was cracking up when Nicole was crying... in the previews, I thought she was really crying, but I was like oooh, when she splashed the water on her face. I felt bad for their boss though.

GeoffZ 01-08-2004 03:09 AM

What was up with Nicole going crazy in the bar and pouring bleach on the pool table? And all because of her purse. I wonder if she was on something. You know all of Atlus hates the Leddings for bringing those girls to town.

MareImbrium 01-08-2004 03:40 AM

I saw the first episode and got sucked into it..hahaha. It was really hilarious watching those two interact with people. I saw tonight's episode and it was simply unbelievable.

PiEp299 01-08-2004 11:48 AM

Here's a story on Paris' boyfriend while she was in Altus. The fact he turned her down to go to UofA is somewhat humorous.

Paris' bf

Word on the Australian streets is that Paris Hilton hooked up with an Australian Idol finalist (Robert Mills) when she was "Down Under"

(the term that my Aussie friend used was that she "shagged" one of the finalists)

I heard on the radio (or was it on TV) that Paris was dating Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. And, that they have apparently moved in together.

Anyways, its about time they showed new episodes. I was getting tired of the re-runs.

kdonline 01-16-2004 01:35 PM

Did anyone else notice that in the last episode, when the girls were looking @ pictures, there was one with a guy wearing a Kappa Alpha jersey?

Munchkin03 01-16-2004 02:13 PM

Braxton cracked me up. He's an old soul.

I would have been all about Chops, too. He was cute!

I'm going to miss the show. I got used to those crazy girls.

I could be wrong, but I don't think she's adopted.

I don't know much about Paris beyond THE VIDEO, but I saw an interview with Nicole on E! a few days ago and she seems like a very funny, charming young woman. So either she was acting in the interview I saw or creative license was taken with the editing by the procuders of Simple Life!

One thing I thought was cute is Nicole has a tattoo of a pair of toe shoes on her hip in honor of the sone "Ballerina Girl" that her father wrote for her :)

she is adopted. from what i heard it was a friend of lionel and his ex-wife who couldn't raise her at the time, so lionel adopted her.

eta: here's the article: http://people.aol.com/people/magazin...8193-2,00.html

Her birth father, a musician, and mother, a backstage assistant (whom she declines to name), split up even before Nicole was born in Berkeley, Calif. Lionel Richie was so taken with Nicole, a fixture at his concerts, that he got her parents' approval to let her move into his L.A. home when she was 3. Six years later she was adopted by the Richies. "My parents were friends with Lionel," says Nicole. "They trusted that they would be better able to provide for me."

My co-worker who watches the show weekley said that they are doing Simple Life 2. Has anyone heard?

MoxieGrrl 01-21-2004 05:40 PM

Whaaaa??? Same girls? Where would they have them go?

(I really think that a network should go through with the whole "Beverly Hillbillies" show they were talking about a while back. I would volunteer for the job. )

Fox has hired The Simple Life girls for a second season--and this time, they're taking their show on the road.

The first installment of The Simple Life followed the saucy socialites through the town of Altus, Arkansas, where they shacked up with the Leding family and toiled for a series of less than impressed employers.

Perhaps not wanting to inflict quite as much Paris and Nicole on a single town and host family, the minds behind Simple Life 2 are sending the girls on what Fox refers to as "the ultimate road trip."

"It'll be a cross-country road trip where they travel from town to town and go from family to family," Fox exec Mike Darnell told Daily Variety. "The show can be a different experience in each episode."

Darnell noted that while the jet-setting duo have traveled far and wide around the globe, their Stateside travel experiences have been somewhat limited, due to a dearth of destinations deemed sufficiently exotic.

He described their future ventures as a cross between Nation Lampoon's Vacation franchise and MTV's Road Rules.

"It'll be interesting to see the country through their eyes," Darnell said. "Maybe Paris will visit a Wal-Mart. I'm kind of hoping they stop at a Hilton."

In preparation for the A-list road trip, Bunim-Murray Productions and Fox Television are currently holding open casting calls for "all-American families" who are willing to host the celebutantes during pitstops on their travels.

So far, host family auditions are being held in Grand Canyon Village, Arizona, Brooksville, Florida and Lafayette, Louisiana. Wannabes are asked to bring a photo of the outside of their home, as well as recent family portraits.

The flaxen-tressed twosome is expected to spend just under a month on the road. Production is scheduled to begin in the spring and the series will debut later this year.

The first Simple Life installment earned Fox a much needed ratings bonanza. The show averaged 10.6 million viewers in its Tuesday time slot and 11.6 million tuned in on Wednesdays to catch the duo's outrageous antics.

If Paris Hilton's Internet longevity serves as any indication, The Simple Life 2 is unlikely to disappoint.

I tried to convince my parents to sign up for this. :) We live on a farm in a small town in Virginia, so I thought it would be good. (It's not a farmfarm... we don't have animals, just lots and lots of hay) My parents weren't up for the idea.

decadence 02-16-2004 06:37 PM

I saw (1st series) the Simple Life for the first time the other day. I thought it was pretty good and they did come across as pleasantly unstuck-up or social reprobate-y too. :)
