I looked at the list and didnt see Chapel Hill unless its listed as University of North Carolina....but didn't we recently lose are chapter there? :(
|
Chapel Hill is always listed as University of NC (otherwise known as UNC). As for as we know, there's only one UNC. We call the other schools in the system UNC as well, but usually with their town name (UNC-G for Greensboro, UNC-A for Ashville, etc.)
UNC did loose DZ and Phi Mu in the past year or two. I'm not sure why though :( |
Wow, this is really awesome...you did a great job!!!

Upsilon Chapter
Hey sorry to crash your board...I actually lived in the former Upsilon chapter house at the University of North Dakota. It was purchased by the university shortly after Delta Zeta closed in 1988. I was lucky enough to give tours of the house to a few alumnae...good times.

Great list!
Glad to see the delta delta chapter represented, I gotta commend you on the work it must have taken to put this all together. Since I'm relativley new to the sorority (I was initiated about a year ago), I gotta ask...for what reasons are chapters normally made inactive? Is that they're choice or is it similar to what happened to GA Southerns chapter?

Pi Zeta is no longer a colony, we are a chapter, and tied for the largest house on ASU campus!

We had Mu chapter at the University of California (Berkeley), which closed in 1969 as listed. Knowing what was going on in the collegiate world at that time (particularly in the People's Republic of Berkeley), it's no surprise that a more traditional institution like a sorority would have closed. It happened all over the country. As far as recolonization there, the price of real estate makes doing so prohibitive, and a chapter would have to have a chapter house in order to succeed. If I recall correctly, the Mu Chapter alums held onto their house corp money until they were instructed to turn it over to the national housing corporation. |
My mom went to Berkeley :) And, alas, you need to add Iota Pi as closed.

Sorry to crash ... Epsilon Delta at Concord University and Iota Pi at West Virginia Tech are also closed ... not sure when, but Concord's is fairly recent.

I stand corrected ... and I'm glad to hear it, dzandiloo! I didn't see on the list of Concord organizations, though.

The Lambda Psi chapter at Columbus State University in Georgia was re-activated in 1993 (that date is close - since I was the CCD at the time I should be positive but being in the midst of moving has scambled my brains as well as my possessions.)

The Epsilon Iota chapter at Fairmont State University was founded in 1956 not 1934.In fact we about to celebrate our chapters birthday January 6, 1956.Love all my girls from DZ. <3
