Fookling. . . I was sitting there like WHAT IS SHE SINGING?!?!!?!?

Simon was cutting everybody down left and right! Unfortunately, Houston wasn't very impressive. And how 'bout the 17 year old kid that came in there (who by the way, had not made a formal acquaintance with a comb OR pick) that was there just to see how far he would get. He really didn't want it. And they didn't let him "sing"! :o

Markies looked dirty too. His nonchalant attitude irritated me too. I wish they would have let a lot less sing as well.

Ol girl who kept starting over, LOL, made me laugh.

I need for them to go to different cities. Stop going to New York and ATL. Go to St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Philly, DC, CLEVELAND, etc. Switch it up a bit dang it.

CrimsonTide4 01-28-2004 12:25 AM

Why did he look straight at the camera when he hugged the guy?
That was a dead giveaway. I hope we don't see on the news that police were able to catch up with a suspect when they spotted him on American Idol lol

He's the guy who passes out long balloons to the ppl sitting behind the rims at the Hawai`i basketball games. He makes kick azz balloon animals too.

You know he didn't want to be the next AI. He just wanted to get some camera time. And he got it. :D

I blame this on the state of black radio today. When we were growing up you had many choices and a wide variety of music to listen to. Now, you turn the radio on, change stations (r/b, pop,top 100 doesn't matter) you'll hear the same 10 songs in rotation. I only listen to radio on Sunday morning-Hal Jackson-on my way to church.

These young kids today only know current music that is run to death of whatever artist is flavor of the month. They have no real idea of good musicians (singers that can sing without aid of electronics), tone or even music choices for their own range (or sense enough to just rearrange to better suit their voice). They just copy whatever they hear on the radio and the pickins are slim. That child saw Beyonce in Fighting Temptations and just assumed it was a new song.

Another thing that makes you go hmmmmm... the brother yesterday (Omai I think) he started to sing a group song and when they said no started to complain-why would you pick a group song and try to sing harmony by yourself !

However, I'm loving the new "Keith" and got a HUGE laugh again tonight...(sorry don't remember his name, Asian engineering student from Harvard) "she bangs, she bangs"...I was waiting for Ricky Martin to come out of the wings and knock him out for messing his song up!

9dstpm 01-29-2004 09:51 AM

I was shaking my head at some of those people last night on AI. I mean, what is with these people competing this year?? This is the third season, that means if you are auditioning, you need to step your game up!! Just because you won karaoke night at the Bigger Jigger does NOT mean you can sing!!!

:( at the Winnie the Pooh guy. My son was like, "Mommy, that's Winnie the Pooh!! I didn't know he could sing!!"

Sorry for crashing, ladies, but I have to tell someone this story. When "Keith" started singing, my chihuahua Pumpkin started howling at the TV.   We've watched all 3 seasons of "AI" together and she has NEVER done that before!

Needless to say, my husband and I were dying from laughter. ;) :D

HAHAHA yes, that is the guy I was talking about earlier. He is HILARIOUS. His "performance" is just as funny each time I see it. His name is William and he goes to UC Berkeley, not Harvard. poor guy. haha One of my sisters just moved to Berkeley and I told her she needs to meet him and have him serenade her :p

ETA- sorry to crash your board, just couldn't help laughing about this guy

OTW, did they show the girl you know's audition?

Next week folks look like they are backstabbing and playing games just for a free trip to Hollywood.

No they didn't! I was so ready to hear her sing, but I know she'll be on next week for sure. They showed a clip from next week, and I knew it was her because her mouthful of braces is so unique!

All I know is that she sang Whitney's "I Will Always Love You" at the Hanohano Room audition. And completely blew the judges away. Can't wait for the best of the best next week!

CrimsonTide4 02-02-2004 10:10 PM

Donnie Williams!!! Yum!!! He's too young for me but brother is mad soulful.

I also liked the Native American chick's voice.

I was not feeling that girl who sang Aretha Franklin. I think her name is Jennifer from Chicago.

Oh and ol girl who told about her duct taping herself to make a girdle    :o as well as one pair of pantyhose being too small and the other being too big, lol.

ykimber 02-02-2004 10:37 PM

WOW... I thought Jennifer from Chicago had the best voice I heard all night and possibly throughout AI3. I also liked the voice of the sistah w/ reddish hair (and b-o-d-y!), but you could tell her attitude would hold her back.

(memo to contestants: people, DO NOT ARGUE with the judges! If you advance, guess what; you'll need their votes again!!)

Donnie Williams could sing but almost "over-did" it with excessive runs and such. ...just sing, the talent will show. And I agree, I really didn't need to hear about all the "foundational challenges" of the woman with the girdle, duct tape, hose issues, etc...

...you must not attend too many Negro functions, do you?:p There is nothing like a two-hour version of "Lift Ev'ry Voice" by LaFontez Shante' Jones, complete with "runs" every other lyric to get the party started right. :(

Yes I still attend the Colored Coalition events, but I don't hear too many runs. Last time I heard runs outside of AI was when I judged a talent show 2 years ago.

Her song was low key good but she is the Camille of American Idol. . . a know it all.

Even Camille knows better that to say Tyra's gay or just disrespect her like continuously. I mean a lot of ppl in fashion are homosexual so that's a bad example but you get me now.

wHat I meant was that when they were offering a critique, she kept trying to speak over them.

You're right. Camille-ish behavior in that aspect. I'm surprised they kept her. Nicole is annoying. And why did those guys look like they were doing the Alpha handsign? Maybe it's just me seeing that.

LOL, the shaka...made popular by old time surfers just telling people "HOWZIT?" or "HANG LOOSE!".

I remember me and an Alpha had a cute discussion about that not too long ago.

Yeah that's it!! I thought it meant something just to surfers but did not want to make an erroneous or offensive comment.

Some of the folks who made it through are the luckiest sons of guns in the world.
