WLFEO 10-22-2003 06:49 PM

Keep guessing......;)

honeychile 10-22-2003 08:54 PM

29 states (30, if you include DC) and 3 Canadian provinces?

(not sure about Canada!)

polarpi 10-22-2003 08:58 PM

42 States, 1 District, and 4 Canadian Provinces (yes, I counted :) )

Continuing with location, what 8 states have NEVER had a chapter of Alpha Delta Pi?

honeychile 10-22-2003 09:24 PM

I can think of seven:

Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Utah, Wyoming

ACK! Which am I missing?!

I'll have to recheck my count....maybe I'm wrong and it IS only 7! :D

ETA: Nope, I checked the list I used to count all the states and provinces, and figured out which one you're missing....you'll get it soon, I'm sure! ;)

honeychile 10-22-2003 10:14 PM

New Jersey?

Hey, that's another one...I guess my original count was wrong....I'll now have to count the states again :)

But there's still at least one more!

ETA: I figured out why I didn't remember New Jersey...one of your original seven were incorrect! :)

honeychile 10-23-2003 12:15 PM

How about:

Alaska
Hawaii
Idaho
Montana
New Hampshire
New Jersey
New Mexico
Wyoming

All right, you figured out the one that you did have wrong on there, but now you have added two new ones that WERE correct! :)

Hint: If you're really curious, the Eta Psi chapter webmaster, Kate Hahn (kateshort) has done an EXCELLENT job of listing all the chapters that have been opened (and any closing years, if applicable). The webaddress is: http://www.geocities.com/adpi-vu/ and is a great resource!!! :)

ETA: I'll list the correct answer by 5 tonight (PDT) if no one has gotten it by then!

polarpi 10-23-2003 08:22 PM

Okay, the eight states are:
Alaska
Hawaii
Idaho
New Hampshire
New Jersey
North Dakota
Wyoming

Delaware (only one you forgot, Honey! :) )

Right now my brain's a little fried, so I'll post an easy one....what's our colors?

honeychile 10-23-2003 09:20 PM

I see what happened - I saw "Alpha Sigma - Ohio Wesleyan University Delaware" and discounted Delaware! Grrr....

Azure blue & white are our colors.

Who wrote our creed, and in what year was it presented?

texas*princess 10-24-2003 02:37 AM

i wanna play too!

Caralee Strock Stanard wrote our creed... I don't know what year it was presented, but I do know she is from the Alpha Gamma chapter! :D

Does someone remember when it was presented?

My question:
What separate corporation accepts tax-deductable gifts, allowed by law, then uses its resources to fund Alpha Delta Pi's scholarships and educational programs?

adpiucf 10-24-2003 11:26 AM

The Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, celebrating 20 years!!!

Here's another question, but this one is an essay....
Tell me all about Ronald McDonald House Charities, which is the official Philanthropy of Alpha Delta Pi. Who started it, why and what kinds of programs does RMHC offer? (This is a great question for all you deltas out there who just had to give this spiel during formal recruitment!)

honeychile 10-25-2003 11:54 AM

As I'm not in a HUGE essay mood, I'll give a little, and hope that someone else adds to it.

Dorothy Lundgren Lee was the Alpha Delta Pi who brought ADPi and Ronald McDonald House together on an International level. I can remember when Scott Paper products were involved also, and their ads always included someone wearing an ADPi t-shirt! :)

Little known fact: when the RMH's were first conceived, the original backers took a survey among children under 12 as to the most recognizable "cartoon character", thinking that Mickey Mouse would win. Nope, it was Ronald McDonald, which is why the houses bear his name!

I do know that RMH provide families of sick children with a place to stay while the child is being treated, but not the finer points.

NEXT!

jewelladpi 10-26-2003 06:01 PM

Ok I don't know much about RMH but I do have a trivia question:

What are the Oracle and the Chronicle?

Ack! These are really taxing my brain! I think that both publications are for the President and one other officer of each chapter. Can someone expound on that?

In the meantime, I'm switching to multiple choice: Of which Founder is there no known photo or portrait?

a) Mary Evans Glass
b) Elizabeth Williams
c) Sara Woodruff Dews

nauadpi 10-29-2003 02:04 PM

The answer is Elizabeth Williams Mitchell...but on another note c's name is not Sara it is Sophronia...

Oh and the Oracle is a newsletter for chapters, advisors, and international officers and it is published monthly except for Dec, may, June, July, and August.

The Chronicle is published once during the year before either Grand Convention or Leadership conference, and it provides info about that annual meeting.

Ok...now a question from me...since I don't think it has been asked...What year did it change from Alpha Delta Pi National Sorority to Alpha Delta Pi International Sorority?

honeychile 10-30-2003 08:47 AM

Clarification, please! Do you want the year our first Canadian chapter was established, or when "National Office" started to be called "International Office'?

And you're right about Sara v. Sophronia! Somebody's gotta keep y'all on their toes! ;)

nauadpi 10-30-2003 11:37 AM

Either answer/both works...

honeychile 10-30-2003 09:06 PM

Beta Zeta (now closed) at the University of Toronto opened in 1929.

Who is our Grand President Emeritus, and (multiple choice) what award is named for her?

a. ______ Diamond Four Point Award

b. ______ Leadership Award

c. ______ Golden Lion Hall of Fame Award

WLFEO 10-30-2003 09:13 PM

Miss Maxine Blake!!! And the Golden Lion award is now named for her!!!!

OK- an easy question---

Who was Grand President (that's what it was called then) before Mrs. Dickey?

adpiucf 10-30-2003 09:18 PM

Beth Gentry Mannle!

Here's my question: How do you log onto Pride Online, the members-only site for Alpha Delta Pi? (NOTE: I am not asking for anyone's membership number, just instructions for how a sister could learn how to access P-O-L)

:)

honeychile 10-30-2003 09:27 PM

Okay, go to www.alphadeltapi.org, and click on Sisters at the bottom. You should have a copy of your Adelphean with you, because you need the code above your name on the address label - 000-0000 (it's your chapter number and your initiation number). The instructions will walk you through your first registration, and you will give a password.

Afterwards, simply click on Pride Online, then Forums (or wherever you'd like to go). Remember, if you're using a public computer, be SURE to log out when you're done!!!!

Quick hijack: I never knew that was the significance of the number on the Adelphean! Woo hoo...I learned something new today! :D

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread (and question):

nauadpi 10-31-2003 02:09 PM

The Memorial Headquarers was dedicated in 1955...oh and to answer I guess my own question...since it did get the answer of the first Canadian chapter...also Alpha Delta Pi officially started calling itself Alpha Delta Pi International Sorority in 1997...

Umm someone else come up with a new question...I am stuck right now...

honeychile 10-31-2003 05:36 PM

Okay, I tried to post this earlier, but my computer went down like the Titanic! So...

According to Sisters, the Adelpheans were probably approached by two different now-NPC sororities as a colony, which spurred their decision to switch their name from the Adelphean Society to the greek Alpha Delta Phi. Which were the two sororities?

a) Pi Beta Phi & Chi Omega

b) Chi Omega & Delta Delta Delta

c) Delta Delta Delta and Pi Beta Phi

Wow! good question!

I am going to guess:

a) Pi Beta Phi & Chi Omega

honeychile 10-31-2003 06:25 PM

(y'all really like the multiple choice, don't you?!)

In response to texas*princess, no....!

polarpi 10-31-2003 06:41 PM

I'm guessing c: Tri-Delta and Pi Phi?

Note to self: Must buy Sisters when I have the extra money...:)

honeychile 10-31-2003 06:45 PM

We need one more guess...!!

adpialumcsuc 10-31-2003 06:57 PM

Hummmmmmmmm How about (B)?

honeychile 11-03-2003 08:07 PM

WLFEO 11-03-2003 09:04 PM

OK- I'll bite....

Alpha Delta Pi divides the US and Canada into how many districts?

polarpi 11-03-2003 11:45 PM

isn't it six districts?

WLFEO 11-04-2003 05:14 PM

You are correct, polarpi! Now you think of a question........

polarpi 11-04-2003 07:57 PM

What are the four guideposts listed in our Creed?

honeychile 11-04-2003 09:06 PM

*Looking at the framed Creed to the left of the computer*

1. Strengthening my own character and personality;

2. Watching my attitude towards my fellow-beings;

3. Recognizing the calue of high educational standards; and

4. Developing faith and loyalty.

Which Miss USA was the latest of Alpha Delta Pi's to wear the crown:

princessnerdy 11-07-2003 01:13 AM

adpiucf 11-07-2003 01:21 AM

Lu Parker is the latest ADPi who has worn the Miss USA Crown.

My turn! Recite the creed of Alpha Delta Pi. For bonus points, tell us about how we came to have our creed!
