I thought both Bush presidents were Dekes. ????
|
They were Dekes but they were also members of Skull & Bones. S & B isn't a Greek org, although many of the members are Greek.

Ooooooooooohhh.. Ok :D

Yale's kinda the odd fish when it comes to GLOs. in the mid 1800s, there were Greek-letter societies for every class. My fraternity (Alpha Sigma Phi) was founded as a sophomore class society at Yale.
It was not unusual for a Yalie of the day to be a member of four different fraternities in the day; he could belong to one in his freshman year, then either go to Alpha Sigma Phi or Kappa Sigma Theta his sophomore year, then Delta Kappa Epsilon or Psi Upsilon his junior year and then to the prestigious secret senior societies such as Skull and Bones and Scroll and Key. |
Does anyone have a link/pic of the DKE house at Yale or links/pics of other secret societies at Yale.
I am curious what their houses look like. I did a search but haven't found any pics. |

I wish I could have seen the footage. Oh well. And yeah if the society is supposed to be secret the public shouldn't know of its existence. I am quite fascinated with secret societies such as the Masons or The Illuminati. I need to check out the movie Skulls.

BUMP
Robbins is on 60 Minutes right now talking about Skull and Bones
|
Read Angels & Demons by Dan Brown. The book deals heavily with the Illuminati & the theories & conspiracies involving them. It's weird that for a work of fiction, some of the descriptions he gives are dead on. I have an uncle who's deeply involved in the Catholic faith (theologian is what I believe he's called) & has told me MANY things about the church (good & bad) so this book was a definite must read.

The truth is that the Trilateral Commision does not make its members powerful. It recruits powerful people, and if they become part of any national government's executive branch, they must resign. Just as the TriCom and CFR don't make their members powerful, neither does Skull & Bones. After three years at one of America's top 3 research universities, its not that difficult to figure out which juniors will make something of themselves. If you pick the top 15 juniors from Yale every year, that group will have many prominent alumni. Its that simple. That said, Alexandra Robbins is a moron, or a liar. I'm convinced of this after watching 60 Minutes. She claims that she spoke with a third of the Skull & Bones alumni that she contacted. Did it ever occur to her that maybe she was being played? Perhaps the S&B alumni concocted an inside story that built upon their mystery and made them seem to be something more than they really are. S&B thrives on the conspiracy theories. It makes a lot of people want to be on the inside. Ms. Robbins was used like the tool that she is. Also, there was a writer for the New York Observor on that piece that really offended me. He stated that S&B has some redeeming values, as opposed to fraternities who have none. |
THis is probably a stupid question, and sorry if it's been asked before, but I'm confused. How do they have lists of people who were in Skull and Bones if it's all secretive? i mean on the internet there are names of people.. is that just like, well it's assumed he was one of the top 15, or does it later become public?

Anyone go to UVA??
This may be way outta left field, but one of my Brothers dates a girl from UVA. At our last formal, I was talking to her about a trip that my pledge class took to the school (PiKA was founded at UVA). We noticed a lot of weird symbols/letters/abbreviations adorning the buildings and grounds of the campus. The ones that I remember are a "Z" painted on the runners of nearly every set of stairs on campus (outside), the abb. "IMP" on several buildings, and in a few spots a symbol that resembled a % or a 7 (possibly symbolyizing the scroll and key society?). Anyway, in the course of our conversation, she mentioned that UVA has numerous secret societies, NOT including GLO's. She said some weren't that serious and gaining membership was almost as simple as showing up to an information session, but she said many of the others are almost eerily (sp?) secretive. With these groups, membership is not revealed until graduation when the members wear special insignia and she said that some never reveal membership.
So I've addressed a lot of topics that I would like ANY information on cause I am really interested by the whole secret society thing. Any input? Edited to add: I always do that. Ask a ton of questions on here before doing a simple online search. I found a webpage from UVA that gives a description of the known secret societies. UGA Secret Society info |
