My class didn't have a 5 year reunion... so I guess I'll have to wait a while longer to find out... but I do now through the grapevine that one of my HS classmates is a tri-delt =)

Well texas*princess, I see that your ADPi and my Delta Gamma also share blue.... (come to think of it, KKG, AXiD and Tri Delta are all in there with blue, too)...
Let's get ready to rumble... ;) LOL... |
GPhiB has pink too.
it's on. |

My class just had a 5 year reunion about a year ago but I didn't go. Matter of fact, I think only 20-30 people out of 350 went. BUT I have gone back since I left for school and I have proudly worn my letters around town (it's a REALLY small town. You're bound to run into someone you know at the stop sign) and not once did I find out that anyone I went to school with went greek. Oh! As for the wearing a symbol, I have a crown lavalier that I wear.
|
To answer the original question of the thread, at my 10 year reunion, I was not yet a DG and so, I had no DG badge to wear at it.
That being said, now that I *am* a DG, at my 20 year reunion, I don't think that I will wear my badge. I might wear an anchor necklace or something though. I don't think any women went Greek to be honest (except for my roommate who went Theta, and she doesn't get the magazine or anything anymore. In fact, she ASKED Theta to stop sending it to her......) |
HS Reunion
For my 10 yr reunion, I wore my lavaliere. Didn't make it back for the 20th and our 25th hasn't happened *yet*.
BUT...since my grandbig sis was in my HS homeroom, and a couple other class mates joined other GLO's at the college I attended (they rushed me hard...but Phi Mu was *it* for me), I will most definitely wear my badge for the dinner and letters for the family day later this year. AND I wore them all for my husband's college reunion (and the college he went to didn't have a greek system -California Lutheran Univ) :) |
Ya'll are cracking me up. AXiD too has a teddy bear, and we aren't exactly the only sorority out there represented by a rose (even a pink one). (But I bet we have more colors than anyone, with the dark blue, light blue and gold, PLUS the pink rose! So there!)
I do wish we had a neat symbol like the quatrefoil or something that clearly means AXD without saying it. They don't make Quill outline necklaces - you can get a regular badge on a necklace, but I think you'd follow the usual rules about where to wear it. They do make mini recognition Quills that don't have the letters on them ... if only they were made as charms, I'd be all over that like eels. |

So Phi Mu has the quatrafoil and Pi Phi has the arrow pendant... what do the rest of y'all do? Come to think of it, I think my former roommate the Tri Sig wore a sailboat sometimes... [/B][/QUOTE] *********************** Alpha Gams have the rose drop (called "double rose lavaliere" in the catalog): http://www.burrpatt.com/alphagammade...ndPendants.asp About 12 years ago I was in Belfast, Maine, where there was a Balfour outlet store. That was about the time that AGD had changed jewelers from Balfour to Burr Patterson. The outlet store had a display case full of NPC lavalieres -- lyres, keys, arrow, lamps, etc. The clerk had no idea what groups they went with (and was impressed that I did). I bought all 21 of the rose drops at $3 each (they were "BalKlad") -- more than I could afford at the time but I could not stand the thought of anyone other than an Alpha Gam wearing "that pretty rose pendant"! AGDAlum |
My 5 year reunion is coming up, so I haven't gone yet, but I would definitely want to wear something to show my affiliation at my reunion.
Kappa Delta has pendants such as these: Diamond and Emerald Pendant Nautilus Shell Teddy Bear I want the Diamond and Emerald one sooooo bad! Edited because I couldn't figure out how to post pics, so I posted the links instead... :p |
Alpha Phi also shares the Ivy leaf with AKA...and I'm always jealous cuz usually the AKA related ivy stuff has pink in it (one of their colors) and my fav. color is pink.
I think we could get away with just wearing an ivy leaf necklace, but most people I know have attatched an Ivy leaf to their lavalier (like I have!) example from sorority specialties: http://www.sororityspecialties.com/a...lv10_thumb.jpg then theres the nicer ivy leaf that our jewelry company (masters of design) makes for both A Phi and AKA: http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-431.jpg they also make a teddy bear charm: http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-433.jpg and of course our crest: http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-405.jpg just so many ways to sport Alpha Phi without wearing letters!! There's a huge list of other groups that have symbol necklaces and pins, etc...I like ZTA's crown one: http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-396.jpg it's so regal! |
My 10 year reunion hasn't happened yet (2006) but I will definetely be wearing a lavalier or something with my letters on it. :)
|
Sort of off-topic. I did a search for kite charms, and came up with this one:
http://www.timelesscharms.com/xcart/...83&cat=&page=1 There are also a lot of cute charms on the national website: http://www.kappaalphatheta.org/kat_v...ts.cfm?catID=5 |
funny that i see this thread today (despite me still being an active collegiate) but i went to my high school reunion today (i only graduated 2 years ago but we had a young alum lunch) but i could name 3 sororities represented there and nobody was wearing letters/badges but i do have AOII engraved on a bracelet so I guess I was representing! :p
|
Great for you!
Hell there were so few people that went to college from my class that they would have had no damn clue anyway!:( |

I have a silver fleur-de-lis necklace that I wear almost everyday, which I think is Kappa-y without wearing letters - but sometimes random people talk to me about New Orleans or Boy Scouting when they see it. :) I think I would definitely wear that to my high school reuinion, it'll be interesting to see if anyone else went Kappa!
|
My 20th HS reunion is next yr and i went to hs in a place where there proberly is not a high greek community % ....it seemed when i graduated only few went off to college unless it is a the local college.

Whenever we have a reunion, I fully intend to wear my badge. I'm so proud of it, and can't wait to tell old classmates all about SAI. :)
|
My 10 year reunion isn't until 2009 but I don't think I'll be wearing my pin or lavalier. There were a lot of people from my HS that went Greek but many of them thought of Greek life as a party scene rather than a place to meet people and get that brotherhood/sisterhood feeling. I doubt any of my old classmates will be wearing their pins or letters. My high school still has a huge gossip circle going so we pretty much know what organization everyone joined anyway.
|
Sounds like we went to the same HS!
|
I think I wore the "rose drop" necklace to my 30 year reunon. a few months ago. I'm supposed to be getting my belated Christmas present soon (an AGD watch).
As for shared symbols, guess AGD is unique..we have red/buff roses with green ferns...with a squirrel mascot! :D |
My 10 year reunion is this year. I'll probably just wear my lavalier.
|
AOII's symbol is a rose too!
I have a rose pendant but don't wear it much anymore. Now, if were to someday get a Rose Award, I'd never take it off! I didn't go to my class reunion. I know of a girl that I went to Jr. High with who pledged AOII at another school. I would seriously doubt that anyone who I graduated H.S. with pledged a sorority. Most didn't go to college, and a lot went to the local community college. If I were to go to a reunion and wear my badge, they'd just think the same thing that they've always thought about me--that I'm a snob and trying to rub it in. |
My 10 year isn't for another 5 years (our officers decided not to have a 5 year...which is fine with me) but I don't think that I would wear my badge. If alcohol is present, I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it. However, I would probably wear an anchor since DG has and always will be a huge part of my life.
I know that some people I went to HS with joined GLOs at Ohio State and Miami, but whether they'll talk about them or not is another story.... |
I didn't wear any AOII jewelry to my 10 year, and no one talked about Greek life. Like someone had said in an earlier post, the people that went Greek at my school did it because it was a "scene" and a status symbol.

I'll probably just wear my lavaliere when I head to any high school reunions:
http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-190.jpg But I also have the following necklaces that I may wear instead: http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-164.jpg http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-170.jpg |
My HS reunion is still a few years away but I'd definitely wear my badge or at least something that has my letters or something like that. I know that at the school I graduated from a lot of people did go Greek but I don't know all the organizations they went to. The first HS I attended also had a large # of people go Greek.
On a side note, my biggest high school enemy (we made each others lives miserable) went Greek & I was floored to run into her at Founders Day. She went SK too! It was weird and uncomfortable at first b/c of all the bitter memories we had of each other but we did start to get to know each other as adults. I can't say we're best friends now but it's pretty nice to know that we have some common bonds & can be friendly if not friends. |
Well my 10 year is in a few weeks and I might wear some other piece of SAI jewelry, but not my badge. For some reason, wearing any kind of badge to a function like this strikes me as pompus. Kind of like Rotarians who wear their little Rotary Club pin to everything.
|
I'll find some way to integrate Alpha Phi in there, especially if I have a majorly BLINGed out badge like I want. (I want Maharet's awesome white gold with diamonds badge!)
I'll admit that high school was not exactly a pleasant experience for me, so I'll probably only go to one HS reunion, and only if it's convenient for me. I'll also admit that I'll wear something A Phi as a "screw you, I found my home somewhere else" type thing. However, I do know quite a few girls from my HS who went Alpha Phi so it should be interesting. |
Nope. If I wanted someone to know I went Greek, chances are they know now.
I remember all the really nerdy girls wore their pin to go back to HS. |

I didn't wear my pin to my hs reunion. |
I very much doubt I will wear my badge to my high school reunion (10 yr in 2005). Since it has nothing to do with high school, it'll probably seem like I'm bragging or trying to prove that I "became somebody" after graduating. If anything, I might wear a crescent pendant - if anyone is a sister, she'll recognize the symbol and ask me if I'm a Gamma Phi.
.....Kelly :) (Because I am a Gamma Phi!! hee hee...I just like saying that!) |
My 10 year HS reunion is in 2005. I would feel weird just wearing my badge on my shirt. I want one of the rings that you can attach your badge to. If I get one by then I will wear it as a ring.
|
If I had to wear any ADPi jewerly it would be this:
(I don't know if this will show up as a pic, bear with me.) http://giftmart.alphadeltapi.org/mer...JW07/JPN11-10K If the pic doesn't show up, it's a diamond symbol w/ a "Pi" in the center. ADPi calls our alum "Pi's" some time. |
