Masha. My passport and all my legal paperwork says Maria on it because Masha in Russian is Maria in English. But seriously though, NO ONE calls me Maria, I make sure of that. My Hebrew name is Rachel which is one of the 4 mothers of Israel. It also means ewe (female sheep) in Hebrew, which is kind of funny since the mascot of KLP is a lamb.

Jadey! Like you couldn't figure that one out! ;)

tinydancer 09-25-2003 10:21 PM

Here's another Elizabeth. But I only use it when I write checks.... I made up Lizz (yes, with 2 z's) when I was in high school because it was different.

My best friend is Mary-margaret (yes, with a hyphen and a little m in margaret.) She always has to explain that.

MuAZD 09-25-2003 11:42 PM

I was called Sarah Rose when I was little but eventually I ended up just going by Sarah.

DeltAlum 09-25-2003 11:56 PM

MeLikey 09-26-2003 01:04 AM

Melanie-- most of my friends call me Mel (for some reason I really like when guys call me Mel), or Melly... and my dad calls me (and I like this) Beauty Cutie.

Edited to add: When I chose the user name, I didn't realize that Mel was the 1st 3 letters... it's actually Me Likey, as in what Carrie says on Sex & the City... when I was choosing a name, at the time, I had a habit of saying "Me likey!!!!" like Carrie, so I didn't know what else to put, so I used that!

SparkliiQTMTSU 09-26-2003 01:44 AM

Nichollette is the real name, but I go by Nichole...or the many nicknames Ive got. :)

Nichole

bcdphie 09-26-2003 02:02 AM

Siobhan (pronounced Shavon - one of those gaelic names) - if you translate my name into English, it's Joanne.

MareImbrium 09-26-2003 02:40 AM

Yvonne. It's pronounced e-von and not yuh-von.

I actually know a girl named Siobhan. So that's how you pronounce it. She and her sister have unique names..at least unique to me. Her sister's name is Cheyenne I believe.

sherbertlemons 09-26-2003 02:57 AM

Megan.

I also go by Meg, and Meggy is a pet name for people that I'm really close to.

polarpi 09-26-2003 03:17 AM

Jennie (just another average "Jenny")

My mom's nside of the family calls me Jenn or Jenners, my dad's side calls me Jennie Amber, and my sorority sisters call me JAD

I have a friend with the same name, minus the "h" - she spells her name Sioban and it's pronounced the same way (Shavon). I also have a cousin named Chivaughn.

Oh, back to the first name question......

My first name is Felicia (not Phylicia and not Felecia). :D

Hmmph and I really thought you were named FeeFee. :(

Carla's the name.
Put a K where the C is and I will stab you.

Rio_Kohitsuji 09-26-2003 09:56 AM

Mine is Kayla, not Kala, Kayleigh, Kalee, Kylia, etc.

xo_kathy 09-26-2003 10:05 AM

Kathy - bet you couldn't guess that one!!

My full name is Kathaleen - please take note of the extra 'a' in the middle. If you want to call me by my full name, please do, but you better pronounce the 'a' or I get pissed!

On that topic, you would be amazed at the amount of employers, utility people and banks etc that ask me "Is that extra 'a' really in there?' Um, no, I'm a college grad and I haven't quite figured out how to spell my own name yet....

aephi alum 09-26-2003 11:06 AM

First name: Nancy
Hebrew name: Na'amia

I knew a girl named Siobhan when I was growing up... She and her siblings had been adopted from Korea. It was kinda interesting calling these Korean kids Siobhan, Kieran, etc...

Don't be sad Carla. FeeFee should only be used as a nickname, IMO. My mother originally wanted to name me Tracy Michelle, but obviously that plan never came to fruition. Oh well.

I like this name.

vanda 09-26-2003 11:22 AM

DaVanda

Vanda is pronounced like Wanda but with a V instead. The V must be capitalized.

Yeah, I get that too. My name is Donielle with an O, not an A, dammit! It's pronounced with the O, too (Don-yell). People always change it on paperwork thinking it's a typo, then I have to go into a whole explanation of how it is actually spelled and pronounced.

etahannah 09-26-2003 12:27 PM

noreen...my mom wanted to name me tedra. if that had happened i would have called myself teddy... hehe...luckily my daddy took over naming me and i got noreen michelle. i like it!! :D

***dances a noreen dance***

AOTTAdvisor 09-26-2003 12:29 PM

Lesley

Spelled with an EY and not an IE. I get VERY upset when spelled wrong. I went by LaLa in college(lonnnnggg story) and my mom and dad will call me Sissy every once in a while, because my brother couldn't say L's when he was little and called me sissy.
And when I curse my dad will pull out the full Lesley Lenora.....

Oh, and I don't like "Les"

Buttonz 09-26-2003 12:46 PM

Caryn...with a C and Y. I wind up correcting most people on the spelling, but my best friends mom spells it the same way :) Hebrew name is Keren however I always had my teachers go by the english. I don't use my middle name (Susan) unless I have to (or on my pin)

wreckingcrew 09-26-2003 01:42 PM

John Odesas.

My dad's name was John also, but his middle name was george. Growing up he was Big John and i was Little John. that changed in HS when i started working out and got bigger than him. he can still kick my butt though  (or so he says :D)

My mom's friends call me Odie, from my middle name, it was my paternal grandfather's name and he went by Odie too.

My mom tells me that she wanted to name me Nikolas Alexander and i'm disappointed cuz i think i'd make a good Nik. I've decided that i'm gonna use that name for one of my sons. Nikolas Alexander Kitso.

Kitso
KS 361 times i'm gonna use Nik if i ever need an alias :D

Steeltrap 09-26-2003 01:45 PM

My name is Vita, pronounced "vee-tah." My middle name is Yvonne.
:)

I used to work with a girl who was from Ireland who had the same name. She told us to call her "shoon" though. She would always say shoon, you know, rhymes with moon!

Lady Pi Phi 09-26-2003 02:25 PM

Emily.

But all my friends and family shorten in to either Em, Ems, or Emmy. I have a lot of micknames, but I'll just keep them to myself :D

I actually prefer if my friends/family shorten my name. It's always so weird to hear them call me Emily. I usually think I'm in trouble ;)

UGAnchora 09-26-2003 02:49 PM

Lauren.

Lauren Patrice if my mama is really pissed off at me.

I have a ton of nicknames:

Lola-The most used one by my best friends. Coined Sr.year of high school cause, "Whatever Lola wants, Lola Gets"

Lucky- Shortened form of Lucky Bug. Its a long story but its from that line in Mulan "you are one lucky bug!"

Lil G- My "G-Unit" nickname! My best friend and her friends at Berry are obsessed with 50 cent and we all have g-unit nicknames. My is Lil G since I go to UGA.

Sally- In like, 5th grade, one of my best friend's dad called me that and its stuck(She's a DG now too!!!)

Pooh- I love Winnie the Pooh.l My other close friend is Piglet. Ok, we were in 5th grade.
