It'll be okay, I will make Abney feel better!:D

My team just lost. This game will have a terrible negative effect on their ranking. I'm devastated! I don't know what to do. I feel so lost. I think I need a new pair of shoes.

WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!!!!!!!

Auburn: 45
Vanderbilt: 7

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

It has already been an interesting day in college football. Ohio State pulling out the win with 3 overtimes to NCSU, a ranked Wisconsin team lost to UNLV, and Arkansas beat #5 Texas. I can't wait to see what happens the rest of the night!

WOOOOOOO PIG SOOEY!!!

did i spell that right?

way to continue to expose mack brown as Mr. February. The guys on the CBS Sportsline desk during the update were hilarious. One goes, "wow, it doesn't matter who the quarterback at Texas is, they still can't win the big game."

I LOVE it!!!

PiEP, it's longWhorns, bonghorns, shorthorns, etc. and there's only one 's' in Texas. ;)

Course, my Ags were off today, before we travel to Blacksburg on thursday night. My HEART says, Ags pull a shocker, 24-20, but my head's making me a feel a little more cautious.

Good Luck in Blacksburg and that's how we were until the game got going, so hopefully the same outcome is coming for you.

And everyone thought my beloved Trojans would be NOTHING without Carson Palmer this year! MUHAHAHAHAHA! I'm feelin' a trip to the Sugar Bowl for the National Championship. But then again, I might be biased. :) BUT DAMN! We're GOOD!

Today's game was a joke. If we didn't take out our first string, I'm afraid to think of how much more we could've won by.

You know who I REALLY wanna play? Ohio State! They are SO overrated- and SO damn lucky! Mike Williams ALONE would punish them.

And bring on Miami! I wish we had played them in the Fiesta Bowl last year- THAT would've been a game! WOOHOO! GO TROJANS!

Um, seeing as how UM was ranked about 8 poll places higher than ND, and they were playing at the Big House, i don't think that really qualifies as an upset.

Maybe the biggest spanking of the year in a rivalry game, the announcers said that this is the first time since 1902 that the Wolverines shut out the Irish, or that the 38 was the most points scored by a team in the series, but definately not the biggest upset of the season.

FSU played a good game. They played hard, never really gave up. When OU put its 2nd team in they put together a few really good (and quick) drives. Keep in mind, OU's 2nd team players would start on most other teams. FSU should do very well for the rest of the season.

I'm worried about our starting MLB who went out with what is strongly suspected to be a torn ACL -- not good. His replacement will likely be a very young player.

You know, I just re-read that and totally realized that I wrote that. I SO didn't mean for it to come out that way! Sorry if I offended you! Honestly, I'm not gonna lie, after the first quarter... I thought USC was screwed. You guys TOTALLY outplayed us in the first quarter! I left during the second quarter because it was unbearably hot and my friend was about to pass out and I was scared to see what the score was when I got home (it was 3-3 when I left the game).

I had actually heard good things about Hawaii and you guys are definitely a good team (even my mom commented that Chang gave her a scare), but my team was just ON today. Leinhart had a great game, Williams was phenomenal, our kicks were amazing... we just had it ALL going for us. Maybe "joke" isn't the right word because we did take you guys seriously, but the game became "fun" after awhile: the team was on, the crowd was pumped, awesome plays were being made. I'm always happy when the second and third string (and some guys I know) get to play too!

Ok maybe not biggest upset, but everyone kept sayin that this game was gona be a good one. It was really overrated, but it was prolly the most fun game i've been to in a while. If Notre Dame woulda gotten thru the M defense with their passing, then they might have had a chance. They didn't even get into the triple digits in their passing yards.

I do have to say tho that the Irish REALLY know how to tailgate! They brought a slip n slide and did beer+soap races on it. There were TONS of green shirts in the Big House, and their numbers tailgating on the golf course coudl have easily matched the Michigan fans.

editted cuz I guess I wasn't watching the game too closely and got some info wrong.

Props to the Men of Troy because they really did play a great game. They'll be in town in two years in our neighborhood, so we'll see what happens then!

At least Tim still has his good looks. T minus 7 days till he comes home.

SUGAR BOWL HERE WE COME!!!

ESPN poll we're #3 this week
AP we're still 4, Michigan leapfrogged us which is just oh so wrong.

And there are 5 Pac 10 teams in the top 25, plus ND, plus formerly Auburn, so playing 6 top 25 teams in our schedule this year is no easy feat!

I agree w IheartAXO, I want to play Ohio State. We'd kick their asses up and down the field!!!

FIGHT ON TROJANS!!!

I think Hawaii's got a good team, OTW. Your offense is strong. And Chang is a hottie. :)

With all due respect, you might want to check with the folks in Miami about that. Both last year and this, the Bucks seemed to play just hard enough to win -- and nothing more.

On the other hand, why am I sticking up for Ohio State?

As I recall, Oklahoma did OK, too.

I'm certainly not an expert, and anything can happen on any given week, but I suspect the road to this year's national championship runs through Norman.

YAY SEC football! I mean wait, I live in Kentucky.......so, when does basketball start back up? ;)

amycat412 09-15-2003 01:02 AM

Delt Alum,
I'd be just as happy to take on Miami. I am confident my Trojans would prevail there as well. SC and Miami play a similar style of ball.

Pac-10 is so overlooked. We've got 1/2 the conference in the top 25.

I have not seen Okla play yet, so cannot comment there, but would be happy to see Southern Cal make their case against the Sooners in New Orleans on Jan 4.

We are dominating our opponents across the board. Which is more than can be said for Ohio State and Miami. We've beaten our last 11 opponents by an average of about 20 pts. 29 against Hawaii, 18 against BYU, 23 against Auburn and am too lazy to look up last years scores right now, but we blew UCLA snd Notre Dame away as well as most of our conference.

DeltAlum 09-15-2003 01:08 AM

Amy,

I've always liked SC, however having televised football for many years I know that it doesn't make a bit of difference which team generally dominates it's rivals and which team squeaks by.

At the end of the day (make that at the end of the season), it's who has the most "W's" and finally the most points on the scoreboard when time runs out.

IHeartAXO 09-15-2003 04:13 AM

Amycat,

My dad said the same thing last year AND this year and it's just SO true. USC has one of (if not THE) hardest schedules! We did last year and with 6 of our teams in the Top 25, I'd say we definitely do this year as well! I feel like we're SO overlooked. I get upset when I go to espn.com and the OSU game or the OK game or the UT game highlights are front page news (ALWAYS!) and USC is never to be found. USC's victory over Hawaii wasn't even a link on the sidebar last night! :(

I guess the Heisman, the Orange Bowl, an amazing team and a hard schedule aren't enough to take us THAT seriously as a football force. I just never hear any USC talk or hype nationally. Boohoo, I must sound like such a baby! I mean, I KNOW we're good and we're ranked high... but I just want us to be #1 for once! :) And HOW the heck did Michigan get ahead of us? I DON'T GET IT! Why does everyone else move up and we stay the same? Grrr. I just don't understand how that works.

Okay, rant over. And heck yeah! SUGAR BOWL 2004! I went to the Orange Bowl with my family last year and I will DEFINITELY make my way down there if (I mean.. WHEN) we're playing in the National Championship this year. :D

Kevin 09-15-2003 10:20 AM

USC is good. If they win all of their games they'll get beat by OU in the NC game:D

I SOOOO AGREE. I was talking to my cousin's husband in Florida and he made a comment about how he's surprised Keyshawn Johnson went to USC, he said, and I quote "I thought he'd have gone to a school with a power football program" I, of course got all irate and started quoting SC stats to him. lol

USC doesn't get enough respect, nationally, that is true. But we are the ONLY Pac-10 team that DOES get any respect outside the West. Which brings us back to the overlooked comment. HALF our conference is in the top 25! When will those east coast and southern sports people start taking notice of us?

ESPN casting for new Sportcenter anchor, maybe I should apply? ha ha

Why not? You ready to move to Bristol, CT? I wasn't the last time they were looking for a director.

Now, turn the clock back 20 or 30 years, and all you heard about in both football and basketball was USC and UCLA.

Times change.

heh heh No Bristol for me, jsut checked it out, and its some reality show they are going to do to find next anchor. No thanks. lol

Yes, I agree, all that matters in the end is the W. But with the BCS and the screwy ways they weight things, the strength of the W seems to matter more than it ever did. Ohio State won on Saturday, but not as convincingly as USC or Michigan, and so Ohio State dropped in polls.

And, for anyone interested, here are the scores from USC's 11 game winning streak:

USC- Hawaii 61-32 (was 52-13 when we took our 1st string out)
USC- BYU 35-18
USC - Auburn 23-0
Last season:
USC - Iowa (orange bowl) 38-17
USC-Notre Dame 44-13
USC - UCLA 52-21 (was, I believe 52-7, when we took 1st sting out)
USC - Arizona State 34-13
USC - Stanford 49-17
USC - Oregon 44- 33
USC - Washington 41-21
USC - Cal 30-28

DeltAlum 09-15-2003 03:59 PM

AhHa! I can see it now:

"SportsCenterSurvivors on FantasyFootball Island"

Who can pack the most cliches into a 20 second voice over while maintaining that smug, slightly superior ESPN facial expression.

Wonder if they need a director for that. I can speak sportstalk.

The1calledTKE 09-15-2003 04:30 PM

Is there anything else but Southern football??? lol j/k:p

MereMere21 09-15-2003 04:42 PM

no, southern football is a way of life

SEC is a religion

:D

wreckingcrew 09-17-2003 11:59 PM

ok ok, so, can i tell y'all how happy i was to turn on PTI today and see wilbon absolutely RIP texas? It was great. Apparantly the cry babies up in Austin are sooo upset about their loss to Ark. that they've imposed a media boycott. Oh, why? cuz you don't want to answer any more questions about Mack Brown not being able to win the big game? boohoo. I'm sure y'all will be more than willing to talk your smack after you dismantle poor Rice this weekend.....unless of course Rice can pull one out. :D Just wait until Thanksgiving, when Fran's got the Ags fired up and THAT becomes another Big one year in and year out.

pooooooooooooor nutless bovines.

In other news, the A&M-VT game is still scheduled to be played as of now. Hopefully hurricane izzy won't cause it to be postponed. While i'm pretty sure VT's gonna edge us out, i'd like to see how we do against them. I'd like to think our less than stellar numbers the past 2 weeks might have had something to do with lack of concentration and looking forward to this. This game will give us a measuring stick to see where our program is.

Although, if its raining cats and dogs, and the wind's blowing like a mexican whore, and we have to rely on running the ball, it's gonna be a long night. I thought our best chance was Reggie McNeal tossin bombs to T-Murph.

Kitso
KS 361 yards T-Murph is gonna have against the castrated turkeys, on Kick returns, punt returns, receptions, hand offs, hell just take the ball from center and RUN!!
