|

Thanks for clarifying. |
I had three close friends in high school and lots of other acquaintances. Of my three best friends, I was the only one who went greek. One of them wanted to pledge Sigma Kappa at her school but she didn't have the grades. I'm not sure where a lot of other people went, though.
|
I knew I wanted to be Greek when I was in high school. My best friends always made fun of me and would make fun of all my Greek Gear that I wore. But when they came home from sophomore year, I found out that 2 of my closest friends went greek!! Yay!! One is a Sigma Kappa and one is an Alpha Chi Omega.
I have gone to visit my Sigma Kappa friend at her university and I get to "live" at her house when I go visit. Since I go to a commuter school (we only have 13 girls living in our house), its such a great experience to see how other sororities live (with the cook, maids, and 70 plus people living in one house!!). A lot of people from my HS went Greek. It is fun to see the Greeks on my campus who I went to high school with. Everyone changes so much!!:D |

Just curious... |
Let's see....
1 SDT at Purdue 1 AXS at Purdue (chemistry fraternity) 1 ZTA at Purdue 1 AXO at Ball State Those were just my close friends. I knew a lot of other ppl from my high school who also went greek, but those are too many to count! :) |
hmm, most of the people i know went to college locally and there was no greek life. tons of people continued high school, i mean, went to penn state, but i don't know of anyone who actually went greek. i know that my hs bf rushed, but never pledged. his uncle was greek and really wanted him to do it, tho. i also had tons of friends who went to schools that were pretty anti-greek.
i know for positive that 3 girls went greek. one at pitt and i think she went theta, but i have no confirmation. two went greek at villanova- one definately went tri delta and the other one definately didn't go to tri delta...lol, but i don't know where she went. |
There were only a couple of us from my circle of friends in HS who went greek...
AXO @ University of Richmond KD @ William and Mary and me Phi Mu at Muhlenberg College Come to think of it, none of my guy friends went Greek......no, I take that back....one went Alpha Phi Omega (co-ed service fraternity) and one went Phi Mu Delta (music fraternity) I guess my highschool didn't really breed greeks! |
I had a few of my male friends go Greek at MTSU, UT-Knoxville and Western Kentucky University. I had some female friends go Greek at WKU, MTSU, UT and Austin Peay. Overall, though, there weren't many of them that decided to do it. I'm sure some that I lost touch with ended up going Greek and I don't know about it!

m_nms i pmed you
|
My high school friends went...
2 D Phi Es 1 DG (another friend was pledging but dropped out) 1 Beta 1 Lambda Chi 1 Pi Phi |
None of my close guy friends joined a fraternity, but my girls...
So my close group of girlfriends and I were really tight in high school and we nicknamed ourselves The Frickative Five- we all were in the same spanish class where Senora used the word "Frickative" and it stuck. When we went off to college, I went to Baldwin-Wallace, two to Ohio Northern, one to Bowling Green and another to Toledo. By the end of the following January, we had two Kappa Alpha Theta's, an Alpha Gamma Delta, a Phi Mu and while the last didn't join a sorority, she joined Kappa Kappa Psi... so in my opinion, we did 100%! |
Most of my friends from high school went Greek. Off the top of my head, I am only remembering three who didn't go Greek, one of which is going Greek this semester, another of which considered going Greek for a while but didn't, and a third who has always been anti-Greek. Wow, I hadn't realized that most of my H.S. friends are now Greek.
Looking back, tons of people I graduated with went Greek. I found out that several had joined Alpha Phi. Girls I rarely talked to, but was cool with, went A-Phi, so I thought that was super cool. I can't wait for the H.S. reunions. :D |
From my class (a small private school):
2 DDD (Furman, Vanderbilt) 3 AXO (me, two friends at GA Tech) 1 XO (Mercer) 1 ZTA (Presbyterian College) 1 Sigma Nu (Furman) 1 Phi Delta Theta (Cornell) Other friends from high school have gone: SAE (5) ADPi (4) AXO Pi Kappa Phi DDD After being at such a small school, it was necessary for each of us to find the same "niche" with another group of friends. |
I found out at my 10 year HS reunion, that the guy's picture in the yearbook directly next to mine also became a LXA at the University of Denver.
I also dated a girl for several years (went to HS together, but, never knew each other until after graduation) that was a Theta. Lots of friends in a myriad of fraternities and sororities. Funny thing is, many of these people were NOT the "jocks" and "popular (homecoming court)" crowd - most of those people never did go to college, or went locally to a school with no greek system. They still live in my hometown, trying to relive their glory days - very sad. |

My best friend was a DG at USC, but most of my girlfriends didn't affiliate. My guy friends, how ever, made a better showing:
1 SN at Cal Poly SLO 1 FDQ at Stanford 1 SFE at UCLA 1 KA at Berkeley 1 SC at SDSU 1 KS at UC Davis 2 QC's at Chico State However my little sis in Alpha Phi had a cool story - her 7 close HS friends all went away to different colleges - and all pledged Alpha Phi! They made the cutest shirts that had a big AF in the middle and all the school names around it. |

In my high school we have quite a few that went Greek at the colleges they went to. I'm sure we would of had more, but we live very close to a community college, so a lot of the girls that you would expect to join a house ended up going there first.
1 Phi Psi at U of Iowa 1 SAE at U of Iowa 1 ADPi at U of Iowa 1 girl that pledged Tri-Delt at U of Iowa this fall 1 Sigma Kappa at Northern IL 1 DTD at U of IL Some girls in locals at Augustana Col. And some more unknowns at various colleges. |
in my high school, one friend is in alpha chi omega at usc, and another is an alpha phi at uci, while i myself started up a new sorority at my school. i just recently found out that another friend of mine who was a year older than me just crossed spring 2k3 at her school haha.
|
i have friends from high school in......
ADII AEPhi AOII AXO A Phi AST ASA Tri-Delt DG Theta KD Phi Sig SK Chi-O ZTA and i think that's all.... unfortunately I dont know anyone else who went AZD :( I dont know about most of my guy friends, but I know at least one is a phi delta theta up in canada selfishly i wish more of my friends were greek so i dont have to try and explain why im in a sorority and whats so great about greek life to them :p |
My friends from highschool went the following (keep in mind I went to an all girls private school in new orleans!), so I don't know any guys from highschool because of that!!
Pi Beta Phi at U of Southern Miss Phi Mu at U of Southern Miss Delta Zeta at LSU Chi Omega at Southern Miss Delta Zeta at Southern Miss Delta Zeta at U of New Orleans AOII at Ole Miss AOII at Ole Miss AOII at Ole Miss AOII at Ole Miss AOII at LA Monroe Kappa Alpha Theta at Tulane Zeta Tau Alpha at Ole Miss Delta Zeta at Southern Miss Pi Beta Phi at Ole Miss Delta Gamma at Ole Miss Pi Beta Phi at Alabama Alpha Gamma Delta at Alabama Kappa Kappa Gamma at Alabama Chi Omega at Alabama Kappa Kappa Gamma at Ole Miss Pi Beta Phi at Alabama Delta Delta Delta at Ole Miss Zeta Tau Alpha at Ole Miss Phi Mu at Ole Miss Kappa Delta at Ole Miss Those are all of my friends I still keep in touch with to this day. My best best friend from highschool didn't join a GLO because of her course loads in college. However, she does wish she could have so one day I would like to AI her into AOII! :) |
Did you go to Sacred Heart or Newman?
|
actually my best friend in HS/college roommate during rush went AOPi and I went AGD - rival sororities at the school went to.
Of my group of friends: 3 Tri Delts 1 Pi Phi 2 Lambda Chi's 2 Sigma Nu's 1 Sigma Chi and of course me - the AGD!! |
My high school friends went:
Phi Mu: 8 (Auburn, GSU, UGA, & VSU) ADPi: 5 (VSU, GSU, & UGA) Theta: 2 (UGA) AGD: 1 (Alabama) KD: 1 (VSU) XO: 3 (VSU & Mercer) Tri-Delta: 1 (Brenau) PiPhi: 1 (LSU) ZTA: 2 (UGA) I think we all pretty much found great groups! |
At my HS no one was really knew what GLO's were...I didn't find out until I actually got to college. After seeing a few friends from HS after going greek...none of them did. It surprised me and surprised them that I did. I know my best friend from HS didn't go greek because she had a bad incounter with a sorority at her college (ball state) so after that, so swore off greek life...I really wish she would have, she was so active in HS, she would have made a great sister...in my org or in another.
I know a few people I went to school with, but never talked to did go greek, but I've heard allot of stories about them...things only your org should know, but I guess its all on the org they joined. |
I go to Kent State and went to HS in Akron. A few of my friends from high school are now Greek, but not many.
Of all my HS friends: One girl is an Alpha Sigma Alpha @ Mount Union. 2 of my friends are Alpha Xi Deltas here @ KSU. One of my guy friends is a Phi Sigma Kappa @ Akron. One is a Delta Gamma at Akron. Another is a DZ here @ Kent State. One is a Kappa Kappa Gamma @ LSU. Another is an Alpha Delta Pi @ UF. One is an AKA @ Fisk University One is Phi Kappa Psi @ Ashland University |
Out of the guys, one went Lambda Chi, one went Sigma Pi, one went Kappa Sig, and a few others joined locals. For the girls, I know one went SDT, one went Tri Delt, and one more went Kappa Delta.
|
Just one...a Zeta Phi Beta. I was really surprised at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I could see her as a Greek. She's awesome.
|
of my three closest friends in HS - One went Gamma Phi beta at USD, One went DZ at LMU, and the other did not go greek.
|
Lets see:
Mindy: Non Greek Sandy: TBS and SAI Amber: Non Greek, tried to start Phi Sig at her school Brooke: Non Greek Those were my BEST friends... Im sure others went greek. Everyone said 'Oh I KNEW you'd be in a sorority' but I myself never saw it... |
Only two of my .. ten or so closest high school friends did. One's an SAE, and the other's and ADPi.
|

SAE -- nine, eight made grades, one depledged DX -- three, two made grades Beta -- four, three made grades, one depledged TKE -- seven, all made grades ASP -- one made it PSE -- three, one made grades STG -- three made it SPE -- four, all made grades 'cept one depledged KSig -- five, only two made grades DU -- one made it FarmHouse -- one made it Acacia -- both depledged Tri Sigma -- five, all made grades KKG -- three, all made grades Chi O --eight, all made grades Pi Phi -- one made it KAT -- two made it ASA -- two made it DSE -- one made it no girls failed to make grades from my high school several joined the boy scout club, now national co-ed, but all were in IFC GLOs. Times and things have changed here. I kept quite complete records on all of them. Small high school in central Kansas, heavy GLO-wise |
Really I think if you asked anyone at my school they wouldnt peg me as the "Sorority" type. (I wasnt very girly in HS, not that all sorority members are "girly" I would just suffice to say that i wasnt the type)
Man, how college can change things. Though from talking and catching up with people, none of my close friends went greek though they dont seem to be suprised that I did (I was always the outgoing type but I never thought a sorority was me and I made that vocal, I guess they saw through that) Of the "popular" crowd from my school, I only know of one Kappa Delta. Everyone else is a GDI which suprised me. |
My best friend of 13 :D years became an AKA in '04 (Univ. of Dayton)
|
One of my friends from grade school through present (more years than I can figure out now) went Sigma Kappa at the U of Mich. Another friend of mine went to Albion College and went through recruitment but wasn't picked up (she had a pretty wild first semester freshman and got a very bad rep at a very small school). The third close friend went ao a school that was hazing big time back then so she didn't go to recruitment, but would have liked to if she'd been somewhere else.
|
of my high school friends, i know that one went tri-delta, one went somewhere else on that campus, one went theta. that's all i know of, but there were lots of people who went to schools without greek systems.
|
From my class of 53 seniors, there is 1 TKE, 1 Phi Sig and myself that I know about. A friend the year before me started pledging SDt and dropped, and one went AEPi.
