Thats probably because you're not a little kid watching the movie like you were when the 1st one came out.

We saw it at the IMAX today and I liked it. I preferred this story, with the character development and history of how Willy Wonka came to be what he is, as well as the ending. I preferred the old Oompa Loompa music. I thought the boat/tunnel scene would be scarier this time, but it was actually more mellow. My kids enjoyed it a lot. This version is clearly more true to the book.
