That's ok - we recently had a rush thread where a PNM used the Hogwarts houses from Harry Potter, and she wound up really liking Slytherin :p

First Rounds: Night 1
 

So tonight we went to the first four houses of the week. Oddly enough they were most of the houses I was really looking at so they had all my first night engery. This round's focus is skits and we spend a total of 35 minutes at each.


Gemini: Cute Candyland theme about looking for the right home. I was rushed by three girls, they were all super and really friendly. They had a very welcome vibe to house and seemed receptive to my upperclassman status. Plus awesome cheers and very enthusastic. I hope to be asked back.:)

Libra: The house choose a tropical paradise theme and had a TRL like skit. I was only rushed by 2 girls here. The first girl I spoke too was absolutely adorable. Libra is a very popular house, but I couldn't really see what was so special. Now I maybe be biased because I doubt they will bid a junior. But no big deal, I didn't realy feel connected. :confused:

Pisces: Movie theme. They also have a goregous house. I was rushed by 3 girls who were older and one was a transfer student. I have a good feeling about this house and the girls are very down to earth and honest. Something I am looking for. Plus a good philanthropy and lots of leadership opps. The girls seem diverse and did an awesome job of making me feel welcome. Another one I hope to see again. :)

Aquarius: Another movie theme. A really thought out and wicked skit that was the best of the night. I reeeeeeealllly loved this house. The girls had so much energy and obviously had alot of spirt for their sorority. I rushed with 4 girls here, 3 of them were awesome, but one seemed to stop listening the minute I said I was a junior. She didn't even pretend to listen. But the others were so great it overpowers the few bad minutes spent with the other one. I really want to be invited back here. It really suprised me in a good way.:D

Im so exhaused and need my beauty sleep for the next day. 4 down and 7 to go. YEY. Its all to exciting!

First Rounds: Night 2
 

Busy Busy Busy! I had to go straight from class to meet my group. I made it with some time, but I would have like to have done my hair tonight. Anyway the break down goes...

Sagittarius: Very nice and cute house. The girls seem to really love their sorority and had an adorable Wizard of Oz themed skit. I was rushed by 4 girls the first two were Ok, but the last two made a much better impression on me plus seemed to really care about what I had to say. But overall I am pretty unsure about the house. I would take some more time there to decide.:)

Aries: I really really enjoyed myself here. Yet another movie theme, but definately had an orginal take on the decorations and skit. The girls are all so sweet and enthusastic. It made me feel better to hear that one of the girl who rushed me best friend is a junior and is rushing. Cool. I had 3 girls talk to me, 2 of which were younger but fun and one of my own age. A fabu house too. This one is part of my top three so far. *crossing fingers*:D

Taurus: I went in with a good feeling about this house and left with an even better feeling. Their skit was acually hilarious and fun. The house had huge tissue paper flowers around for a secret garden theme. This was also the "snack" round so we had yummy dirt cups. I talked to 3 girls here. All which I really adored. One of them rushed as a freshman when she was 20 and that ROCKS !!! I need to be invited back here, too. ACK. :D

Capricorn: What a poor way to end the night. They were the worst rushers I have ever encountered. When we go into a house we hand them a mini resume with our picture...well I sister take two and just sloppily fold them and stuff them in her back pocket. I saw another standing in the corner folding up the edges and messing it up. At one point another sister came over and introduced her self...well the girl I was talking too goes "This is ummm...." , stands up and then walks away. Thanks for that stunning intro. Its a fairly popular house...but lets say it draws heavily on people not from Wisconsin, because they seemed to ask everyone almost immediately on where their hometown is. Whatever.:mad:

Anyway. I llllooooveee rush and almost all the houses have impressed me so much. Tomorrow I go to the last three. And then I rank for second rounds. The most parties one can attend is & so we will see how lucky I get. I'm so exaused, but so happy too!

AH When is it bid day already!!!

Oh yeah...HOW come you had to name the bad house after us Capricorns!? :p ;)

Okay, I'd imgaine she's at the Badger game, but still, I'm a little anxious to hear about her last night of First Round. Hope it went well!

Dying to hear more and thrilled that you're having a good time at recruitment and love so many houses- that "have an open mind" piece of advice really seems to be working. :-)

Anyways, give us an update soon! (I want to hear about Virgo, too!)

I will drive to Madison and hunt her down if she doesn't post soon. Badger after-parties are NOT an excuse for not updating. ;)

Ok heres the reason for the delay...Friday was my roommate's birthday party and we threw a party. Our house is kinda stinky still. And if you don't know Badger football is my saturday church, as in I can never miss it. So after all that I finally have chance to finish up...sorry to make you wait.

Leo: A great great group of girls. They are diverse, energetic, and obvioulously love their house. Another tropica theme, but had an awesome skit. Talked to three really funny girls, one of which we spent the whole time talking about hair and skin. HA! Both of us agreed that it was refreshing by this point NOT to talk about hometowns and majors. The only thing about this house is it VERY popular, if I get invited back even for first rounds it will be an honor.:)

Virgo: The best word I can think of to call this house is mellow. They seemed real low key and I definately see myself here, but I'm not mellow all the time and hopefully I could be down with this house. I loved the girls here. I was rushed by a girl who also has a diffrent name and we had a great conversation about hating our names, but growing into them. Also had an Oscar/Movie theme. Definately want to visit again.:)

Scorpio: This last house doesn't accually have a house. Which is very sad because many people cut them from the get go. I was double rushed? Is that when one girl talks to two PNMs. I think the girls are very close, but I didn't get any idea on what they are like because I only got half a conversation with one. Maybe I'll see them again next round.:confused:

My Rho Chi group got to leave a little bit early tonight since we didn't have the four full parties. So I did my ranking. I really had a hard time with the middle houses...the ones I liked but wasn't completely sold on. I'm fairly nervous. I expect to be cut more than the other girls, but I hope to get some opitions. Anyway...I'm going to keep my fingers crossed untill monday afternoon.

You never know what those "popular" houses think! Pi Beta Phi is one of the most popular ones on campus, and i thought they would cut me after the first night. I ended up preffing and put them first, hoping for the best. and now im a new pledge for Pi Phi! SO YOU NEVER KNOW!

I know, in my heart, that I would love my sorority with all I have, but I'm a big believer in fate so if its not in the cards...Its whats ment to be. (YET I can't help but want it so badly!!!)

I'm such a dork, I actually have a pen and paper list going to keep track of things on this rush story. It's probably because I'm from Madison and familiar with the campus, so I think I've figured out who about half the houses are. But don't worry, I'm not saying anything.

I am so nervous for tonight! Only a few more hours ! So I am wearing a black, ruffly jbelow-the-knee skirt and a dark pink tube tob. Its humid again today, but since it's going to drop I'm also bringing a jean jacket. Tomorrow I think I will wear one of those white linen skirts with some kind of polo or cute top. Not that anyone cares too much about what I'm wearing... :p

I think half the fun of going out sometimes is getting ready! I'm such a nerd!

I WAS INVITED BACK TO ALL 7 PARTIES

I almost peeed my pants! I was expecting 5 at best. I called my roommate between parties to share the news. I'm so excited to see the house's tour and do philanthropy projects. So here are the remaining houses:

Alpha Phi
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Gamma
Gamma Phi Beta
Kappa Alpha Theta
Sigma Delta Tau

And in no particular order-4-40 minute parties:

Gemini- Of course I was excited to be back where I started. I took a tour with a girl who had a really blah 'tude. She wasn't really excited or trying to talk the house up. Oh well. I talked to about 4 people here...however I had a great conversation with 2 and not with others. Its so hard to decide when you can click so well with some and not with others. Its really up in the air with this one. I like it, but not sure if its the place for me.

Aquarius- The enegery of this house is amazing! They cheer and talk at light speeds. I think I need a house that is matched with my enegery, like this one! I liked them alot. 3 girls and I had great conversations. One girl remembered my name from first rounds! The third was one of those "How are your classes" conversations. She seemed more mellow for the house though. Not bad, just mellow. Still one of my top house. Cute Studio 54/Disco theme. Still a top runner!

Pisces- I think this house will always stay with me because it has a real home feel to it. The girls are really comfortable with each other and seem to know every face in the house. Lots of good and honest convo, not too high strung or too mellow. But there is still something missing that keeps it out of my top three. We'll see how pref goes.

Ares- This house ruled the whole night. I was never really intrested in this house before rush and never though I could fit in/feel comfortable. But I LOVED it. All the girls were sweet and friendly and bubbly and real. I had 4 super 'connection' conversations. One of the girls had rushed as a junior last year! eeee! Their house was decorated so CLASSY too. I want to go back to this house for pref. For sure. I could gush all day about much this house has affected me in the whole hour I have spent with them!

You know whats really funny?? Even though we were supposed to do crafts this round...I barely touched any of the stuff because I was always wrapped up in the conversations. I'll take this as a good sign. ;)

I just stumbled upon your thread tonight and read thru the whole thing...everything you have said as well as all the support everyone responding to you has given, has made me want to go national all the more once i transfer. I totally love your idea to use the zodica signs as a code until your done with the entire rush process, it is def. something i will have to remember for when I rush. Good luck.
