I swear, I've probably had at least half the jobs on this thread.... I'm a woman of many talents, I guess. :-)

What I'm doing NOW though... this by far my favorite... I'm a bartender at a sports bar/billiards hall and I'm also a P/T instructor at my bartending school, which is basically getting paid to sit on my butt and talk to people, teach people how to make drinks, exchange stories and jokes, and practice my skills... so kick back

:-)

I am a data entryist/receptionist at an accounting and tax office. I love it there and since it's a small office which is family run, we're all close with one another. We have a lot of laughs and fun.

Right now my ideal job would be an English teacher. I just need to finish school first and take two other entrance exams.

Unless you work for Parking Services or the Office of Student Support for the College of Business, I don't hate you. :)

I think those are the two main gripes for UCF students. Maybe the Registrar's Office but I never had a problem with them.

SiKeS 01-27-2004 03:03 PM

Lotsa jobs

I'm overwhelmed with jobs... only getting a few hours a week with each of them

Wilson's Fitness Beach Club - AMAZING pool.. I lifeguard here during the summer. Pay isn't great, but free memberships to their 3 local gyms, the pool and the MAC

The Market Place - Huge Home Decor/Antique Place... I know nothing about the stuff I sell, I don't really do anything except talk to old folks and ring people up sometimes... Not bad pay, my ex's dad owns the place. I've been w/ em since the beginning

MAC (Missouri Athletic Center) - Owned by Wilson's, I work here very few hours during the spring, winter and fall as a lifeguard. It is a neat place. Indoor soccer arena, state of the art womens fitness area (not that it does me any good) and a small pool. Also has tennis courts and an outdoor pool which aren't used.. too damn chilly

Abercrombie - I work very few hours, get paid crap.. Good discounts.. *shrug* A job is a job! :)

What newspaper do you write for? I'm a journalist myself and it's always refreshing to come upon someone who shares the same love for journalism that I do.

Okay, I looked up your profile cause I'm a dork and you don't live anywhere near me but we have a locally owned chain here called Rio Grande. They serve margaritas so strong that there is an inforced limit of three. An old friend of mine used to bartend there and they make ridiculous money.

Hah! The advisors at CU took me there on my first visit to Boulder and it was quite fun. I don't think the margs are really that much stronger than here in LA but the altitude combines with alcohol to be quite lethal.

I write for the Bedford Gazette in Bedford, Pa. Funny thing is, when I was getting ready to graduate from college, I applied for a job at the Tuscaloosa paper, writing features. :)

Jadey28 02-02-2004 11:59 AM

I'm a chemist working on Aberdeen Proving Ground doing research on Chemical Warfare Agents. In addition to research, I also help prepare agent detection kits for the military to use. It's a pretty good job~I don't really have a full day of work, cause it's the government, and we don't work that way! :)

AOX81 02-04-2004 01:27 PM

I will soon be employed by Hertz. :)

ISUKappa 02-04-2004 02:16 PM

I am a production assistant for a small publishing company that does trade magazines for heavy-duty construction equipment distributors. We do all the writing, editing, design and prepress work for about 40 magazines. It's not that glamorous, though, I'm in charge of circulation and photo scanning. Sometimes I will get to create ad copy and design an ad or fix the work of our in-house graphic designer. Those are the fun things. I'm looking to go back to school in the next year for my Master's in Professional Journalism.

RioLambdaAlum 02-11-2004 09:01 PM

Let's see I still work at the grocery store...but now I work at Head Start and love my kids!

XOMichelle 03-09-2004 07:28 PM

I work at SRI International
www.sri.com

I work in the Policy Division as a research assistant. The biggest project I work on is the Statewide Evaluation of First 5 California. I also work on the Educational Outcomes Center, which is a group charged to design an outcomes system for the infant, toddler and preschool early intervention programs funded by the Office of Special Education. My job can be boring, but the projects I work on a really cool, and I've had some success in getting more interesting assignments.

Adelphean1851 03-10-2004 02:12 AM

I work for Flemings Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar. I'm a backwait which is a glorified food runner, i'm just biding my time till I can move up to server. I'm studying wine in hopes of becoming a sommelier someday, but if I had unlimited resources i'd be a Recording Artist, oh well, American Idol here I come!
