Hi Sam!
Have fun with your "fruit basket"!!! Hope you enjoy your rush!!! |
Woo Hoo!!!
I'm so excited for you and our other Az. PNM!!!:D Best Wishes!!!:) |
Have a great time this week! I'm looking forward to reading all about it!
|
Hey everyone! I just got home from orientation!! My RC's are soooooooooooooooo nice! Those two are so excited about everything that is to come! Anyways, there are something like 900+ girls rushing and quota is in the 60's. I have never seen SO MANY girls in my entire life in one room! We all met at 6:15 in the Student Union where the Panhellenic Pres went over the next week's events. We were then put into our groups (there are about 20 girls in my group) where we talked about the whole week and the RC's answered all of our questions. Tomorrow, friday, and saturday we are pretty much going from 8-5 and then sunday we go 7-3 I think. I still don't have exact details for each day-I don't even know what houses I'm going to tomorrow! One of my RC's let it slip, though, that we are starting with the raspberry house at 9 tomorrow morning.....I'm so excited! I'll post again tomorrow night!
|
YAAY! I am soo excited for you! Dont forget to let us know how it goes tomorrow :) Have a great day and good luck!

Whoo hoo!!

It is just after 6am and I am up-I gotta start getting ready so I can leave. I have the annoying pleasure of dealing with parking so I need to leave extra early!
|
Ew.
Parking. Ew. And what rush on earth starts this early? *is happy her rush is in the evenings* |
God, U of A parking sucks. I am so glad I am not you.
|
I see you lurking! I think we're in for an update! YIPEE!!! I won't be up until midnight tonight!
aj |
OK we want our update now please?
I can't wait to hear about this ( I almost wish I decided to go to UofA when I had the chance, but I love the south) Chris |

Hey! Its about 5:30 and I just got home from the first half of Set 1!
I met with my group at 8am and then at 9, we walked into our first house-the raspberry house. OH MY GOD! All the bouncing, clapping, jumping, singing, and yelling was out of control! But, it was all very exciting, too! Anyways, we walked in and were immediately picked up by one of the members who took us into a room and began asking us THOUSANDS of questions. I talked to about 3 or 4 girls, one the VP of education, who were all really nice, but I totally can't see myself in this house. I won't give too many details, but I just can't. The kiwi house: This was the second house we visited. Again, the doors flew open and the bouncing, clapping, jumping, singing, and yelling began. Just by looking at a few girls I could tell this was more of my kinda place. I walked in, a girl grabbed me and we began talking. The conversations went really well-even with the other girls I talked to. The President came up and introduced herself to me, also. One of the sisters said there are 130 girls in the chapter and she is close with each and every one-this was very appealing to me! This house is one of my two favorites from the day! The plum house: This was the third house we visited and the second of my two favorites! All the girls were GREAT. Very down to earth, relaxed, normal girls. With this house though, myself and another PNM talked to one sister. The other PNM talked the WHOLE time. I couldn't say a single thing! I did manage to give my two cents, but still.....a little frustrating! The orange house: Fourth house of the day! One of my friends from last year is in this house and grabbed me right when I walked in. Obviously we had things to talk about and then she introduced me to two other girls who were absolutely great! I could definately see myself in this house too, but they are pretty strict when it comes to grades-which I can deal with, but they make the pledges go to a zillion study sessions each week which takes up TONS of time...... The banana house: This is a VERY tiny chapter! There are less than thirty girls who all live in the house together with tons more space for new members. I wasn't overly impressed with this house. There were five of us talking to one girl! She was very sweet though and included each of us in the conversations. The peach house: This was the last house of the day which made me a little happy because I only had to be overwhelmed by the bouncing, clapping, jumping, singing, and yelling one more time! I have to say, I kinda already had formed an opinion about these girls before I walked in because of what I had heard around campus-which is horrible, I know!-but after talking to three girls, I realized they were nothing like what I had heard around campus! I would really like to see this house and its members again! My fav. to least fav so far: Plum, Kiwi, Orange, Peach, Banana, Raspberry. I have 6 more houses tomorrow beginning at 8 am and I am very excited! Then I have to pick my 8 favorite afterwards. Two days down, 5 to go! |
hurray!!! it is crazy that you still have more parties to go to! i couldn't have made a choice among soooooo many groups! good luck tomorrow.

Sam I am so glad you had a great day. I wish I could be the sister at banana who can talk with five PNMs and keep them all included in conversation. She is an example for us all. |
WooHoo!!!
THAT is what I'm talking about! Bouncing, Clapping, Singing, Jumping, etc. THAT'S the fun of it all. I'm so happy you had such a great time. I'm so excited about these two U of Az threads!!! Have a great time tomorrow!:D |
I am so glad you had a blast. I can't wait to hear about tomorow.
And you are a good little PNM. |
Hi! ... I'm so glad to hear that you had a great time. I was there at lunch handing out lunch bags so I must have seen you but with 800+ women we just didn't connect :-).
I stayed around for awhile and and watched some of the entrances and exits ... so much energy and so many cute PNMs. Enjoy tomorrow - I can't wait to hear the rest of your story.. |
So glad to hear you had fun! The names you are substituting for the houses are SO CUTE! Have a blast tomorrow!
|
I understand that the smaller chapter might not be what you are looking for, but do give them a chance...they just might wow ya.
|
This brings back so many memories of when I rushed!! Have a delightful time and keep an open mind!! :D
I can't wait to hear how it all goes! |
have a good day...keep all those options open...and have a blast.
good good luck. |
So we only went to one of the same houses yesterday!! It's interesting to see what you thought about the other houses, now I'm really curious about what I'll think. I'm glad you found some houses you were happy at. I was totally unprepared for all the clapping and cheering also, but it made me smile :D . Have fun today, maybe I'll run into you at lunch!

It was just as bad at the UofA yesterday. The SAE's were in their front yard some sitting on a couch and some in 2 kiddie wadding pools. The Delta Chi's have a setup on their front walk that they made into a make-shift pool. They certainly don't make a good first impression on these (mostly) freshman women.

Frat guys really are their own breed. |
Wow-- I am so impressed with the Banana House! At my school, we had huge chapters and huge numbers of PNM's-- so even chapters with 100+ members were double-rushing the first couple of days. I remember how difficult and nerve-wracking it was to talk to one PNM, and more-so for the two, but I am completely impressed at how Banana sisters can handle 5!!!!! I think that says a lot about their sisterhood and the quality of their women-- to be able to take a stressful situation like that and handle is with such grace and make every PNM feel like a welcome guest.

I'm back!!!
I'm so glad today is over-not because it was a bad day, but because I am sick of sweating to death!! I'll get right to it.... The Pear house: I was SO glad this was the first house because I have been looking forward to visiting this one for so long! I totally clicked with all the girls I talked to. They were all very gorgeous, but very down to earth and the conversations went really well. I asked if many of the members had jobs (this was my question of the day LOL-I asked every house this question) and she said almost everyone! This made me feel good because I HAVE to work to pay for my car and other things. She said school and work come before sorority things. Overall, LOVED them and want to go back! The Mango house. Second house, I was kinda looking forward to this house too. However, I wasn't feelin them when I left. First conversation was a little slow, but the others went better. Less than 100 girls in this house-plus one of the girls said everyone in the chapter does absolutely EVERYTHING together. When I asked her my 'job' question, she said about 4 girls had jobs. That scared me a little..... The blueberry house: Again, gorgeous girls but all were SO nice-great conversations, no quiet moments-I got stuck sitting on the hardwood floor so my butt was asleep when I left :D I would like to go back to this house, too! The strawberry house: VERY small house! Around 43 girls I think, the conversations were all good, but I didn't really click with any of the girls. Somehow, many of them knew me because my best friend's cousin is in this house and she was so excited to find out I was rushing and apparently told everyone in the house to look out for me. They have a HUGE house, too. The grape house: Loved this house-along with every other girl on this planet :) lol...first conversation lagged a little. She was a sophomore too so maybe she was nervous. The other two conversations went well though and I really clicked with them-definately want to go back! The apple house: I had heard a few things about this house before I went in...the first girl did not talk AT ALL! Luckily, the second girl is a graphic design major (thats what I'm doing) so we had much more to talk about. Wasn't really feeling this house when I left either....... Anways, we had to pick our top 8 and then rank the remaining four. I can't totally remember who I put, but I think this is how I did it...... Top 8 (in no specific order): Pear, Blueberry, Grape, Raspberry, Kiwi, Plum, Orange, Peach. Last four: Mango, Apple, Strawberry, Banana. Tomorrow we can visit up to 8-depends on how many ask you back obviously. I hope it goes okay tomorrow! I'll post when I get back! |
