Dear Sisters:
I am so proud of all of our chapters. Each week at Recruitment practices on Wednesday and Sunday nights I update Nu Beta with the results of all of the other AOII chapters. They are all proud of ya'll too! Our Recruitment is 24 days away! It starts on October 2 and ends with Bid Day on October 6, 2003! I'm so excited! Anyway, congrats to our awesome chapters around the country and in Canada! AOII FOREVER! |
Well, us Epsilon Gammers got 12 awesome ladies through fall rush!!! There were a ton of ladies that didn't run across stage so we are going to try to COR them. Hopefully our new member class will grow. :) Tonight, bid night festivities were awesome. We had a luau *ha, I can't spell* and taught the new girls the slap clap song. It was great fun!
Edited to say: We got 2 more girls from snap bids! :D |
Delta Beta - CORed to quota!!! Dozens of roses to them!
Kappa Chi - Didn't match quota but are doing great with COR. Lambda Tau - Should be at quota by now. Well done ladies. Kappa Tau is in the middle of recruitment now. We had a 98.9% return rate for philanthropy. Tonight is skit and tomorrow is pref. I am very confident that we will get the best of the best on Sunday! |
98.9% rocks!
Continued good luck to KT, and Roses to DB, KC and LT ! |
Wow! Great job, ladies! This is my first year as an alum and I'm going through major recruitment withdrawals! Good luck to Kappa Tau, I know they will do well, as they always do! :D
|
Kappa Tau does it again!!! We matched quota and we got both of our legacies! This puts us over chapter total! Phi Mu also matched quota. The other sororities came really close and I am sure that they will have no problems with COR. Congratulations all around. :D

Hi Sisters and Friends!
Two weeks from today we begin recruitment! So far there are 860 women signed up at Ole Miss! They are expecting quota to be around 85-90! AOII is ready and we are all excited to begin recruitment and get some awesome new members! GO AOII! Edited to add this news: We have 27 known legacies going through recruitment. 21 of them are Nu Beta legacies! We hope to recruit as many as possible! They are all wonderful women! Also, out of those legacies, three are double legacies and one is a triple legacy. We also have 25 courtesies. I just went and checked online, Ole Miss is using a new system called ICS Recruiter where it is all online on a secure server. |

Anyone else's mind blown away by actually seeing those numbers? 2-3 known legacies, maybe 5-6 once in a while, are pretty much what I'm familiar with. Good luck Nu Beta! Whoo hooo, more new members coming soon! |
Well, it has been one great week of rush at the University of Maine!
Quota was 8, we have quota + 1!:D Just wanted to share the excitement that the AOII's of the Gamma chapter are having with all of you! Well, we're off to go eat dinner and play with our New Members! YAY for AOII! |
Question
What is a courtesy? A cousin, aunt, etc?
Silver |
A courtesy is a cousin or aunt. I mean it might be different from chapter to chapter.
|
Courtesy
Does a courtesy require an invitation to an invitational party or a call to the courtesy if the pnm is cut?
Thanks for the info. i was totally unaware of courtesies. :) Have a blessed day! Silver |
AWESOME NEWS - I KNOW YOU HAVE ALL WORKED SO HARD!!!
CONGRATS!!! Quote:

well I'm off to bed, I hope I answered your questions! GO AOII! CONGRATS TO ALL OF OUR CHAPTERS! AOII ROCKS! |
Legacies
I LIKE the term "courtesy"! We always use psuedo legacy when someone is a cousin of an AOTT or has an aunt, or along those lines. And that does blow my mind with 28 legacies. We had 8 one year and it was crazy!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!

Lambda Eta Recruitment total
The ladies of GVSU in michigan got 21 women this year in recruitment. That's three over quota of 18 and the most of any sorority on campus. It also makes lambda eta the largest chapter on campus!! As a recent alum that came to visit, I'm so proud of you ladies!!!
|
Congrats to ALL AOII chapters! I hope Nu Beta can keep up the tradition and pledge quota plus on October 6, 2003!
|
Some Canadian news...
Some updates...
Gamma Chi (Carleton) - took quota of 8 Iota Chi - (U of Western Ont) - took quota of 20 Beta Tau - (U of Toronto) - took quota of 7 McGill (Kappa Phi) and U of Calgary (Kappa Lambda) finish up this week - let's hope 5 for 5! |
Roses to our Canadian Sisters! Ya'll rock!
Gettin' excited down in Oxford, MS for Recruitment to begin.... Countdown....8 more days! |
I only saw a small, fuzzy picture, but it looks like your Lambuth chapter took 13 new ladies! I'm not sure what quota was :)
|
Hi Everyone!
Today is the Panhellenic Advisors Luncheon! We are going to set quota! There are 900 women signed up for recruitment this year at Ole Miss. That is the most we have ever had! And with only 9 GLOs I'm sure we are all going to do awesome! |
Ole Miss Rush Starts today!
Schedule Thursday, Oct 2: Philanthropy Round Parties 4pm, 5 parties at 50 minutes each Friday, Oct 3: Philanthropy Round Parties 4pm, 5 parties at 50 minutes each Saturday, Oct 4: 7am PNMs accept up to 6 skit round invitations 12:30pm PNMs pick up skit round schedules Skit Round Parties 1pm, 6 parties at 60 minutes each Sunday, Oct 5: 7am PNMs accept up to 3 Pref invitations 2:30pm PNMS pick up Pref schedules Pref Round Parties 3pm, 3 parties at 60 minutes each Monday, Oct 6: 5:45pm Bids Distributed Sororities at Ole Miss: Alpha Omicron Pi Chi Omega Delta Gamma Delta Delta Delta Kappa Delta Phi Mu Pi Beta Phi Kappa Alpha Theta Kappa Kappa Gamma The reason for ten parties is because there are 900 girls going through rush and with 9 sororities that would be too many girls at one party, so they added one party on Friday night, which makes it 90 girls at a party. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, AOII is ready for our PNMs! First we stack the door and do a cheer to the PNMs before they come into the house and then we run out and grab them and bring them into the house. For our philanthropy round we show a video we had made which shows the Juvenile Arthritis video from AOII headquarters and then it is a video about our chapter, Nu Beta. It is the best video we've ever had. Then the PNMs and AOIIs make therapeutic balls out of balloons and sand to be donated to the local retirement homes in the Oxford/Lafayette area. Then the PNMs are served AOII cookies and non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiris. Then the parties end and we do our traditional stacking of the door singing, “Remember AOII.” I will keep ya’ll updated! OH and quota is 84! |

Quota
How can quota be set BEFORE  the first invitational party?
Also, 84 X 9 = 756 900-756 = 144 women not given bids! Is this right? Do approximately 150 women fall through at Old Miss each YEAR? Help me to understand this process! Silver |
How many drop out typically?
|
We set quota last Wednesday at the Panhellenic Luncheon. Normally, about 100 will drop out and the rest will be released because of grades. Some girls don't listen to Panhellenic or their Gamma Chi's who tell them they probably will not be placed if they do not have at least a 2.5 gpa from highschool or a college or a community college. And then there are women who are not "sorority" material. There are some that are not financially stable or they are not able to meet other criteria like their activities in high school or their group adaptability. This is the most we've ever had go through rush. Last year there were about 750 girls. Also, the advisors of each house are going to meet on Saturday to see if we need to lower quota or set it higher. But right now it is set at 84. Personally I think that is awesome because chapter total is 150. It really should be about 180 because the average size of houses at Ole Miss is about 180. Two houses have 200+ members! Anyway!
Tonight, the first set of round one parties was awesome! The Gamma Chi's said AOII had the best video that they had seen so far and that they were impressed because we had enough chairs for our members and the rushees. Also, our girls looked so cute! Tonight we did not meet for a bid session. We will meet tomorrow night....long night tomorrow night...I can feel it already. Also, I found out that one sorority, no names mentioned either, was called out by the Gamma Chi's at their party for hot boxing, which is when three or more actives is talking/speaking/chatting with a rushee. This is so not cool at Ole Miss. They do not like that at all. So, that sorority will have to pay a steep fine and possibly have to loose a social or two. Our legacies and courtesies were amazing tonight. We are only allowed one alumnae out on the floor, and so I made my rounds to all of the girls and our tip top rushees. Well, that's all for tonight, I will post either Saturday or Sunday with more updates. Oh yeah, and we had two girls that were at our parties tonight that have juvenile arthritis, so our philanthropy video really hit home..... Roses! Thanks for the thoughts! I know Nu Beta is and will continue to represent AOII well! |
Good job to Nu Beta! I wish I could see recruitment at Ole Miss...a lot different from what I have experienced I am sure! My question is, had I rushed there, would I still be an AOII? I didn't know ANY greeks before I rushed...and I had no recs...can girls who rush with no recs get bids?
|
Great job!
Great job, Nu Beta! How is it going today?
Silver |
Nu Beta made quota plus with 95 girls! Quota was reset on Sunday to 86 and we got 95! We are so excited! We have the most attractive, talented, intelligent new members on campus!
I'm so proud of my chapter and so excited about our new members! GET EXCITED! |
95? WOW! Congrats Nu Beta! It sounds like recruitment efforts were wildly successful for all 9 chapters at Ole Miss this year. I wish we heard these types of happy endings at every greek campus.
|
Great news Nu Beta!!!
|
Congrats to every chapter. I am soo proud to be an aopi alum.
|
Hi Sisters and Friends!
Last night was New Member Pinning! It went very well! I'm so excited for all of our new baby pandas! We are also going to sponsor 6 AOIIs and New Members in the Parade of Beauties Competition this year! That is the most we've ever sponsored! |
Mu Lambda extended 4 bids in COR and all 4 accepted!!! They will have another COR in November and participate in deferred formal recruitment in the Spring.
|
Tau Gamma took 9 wonderful girls on Bid Day and just recieved 3 more through COB!!!! Quota was 14, so we did amazing and got the best girls ever!
|
not to be correcting my own pledge sister, but the AOII's at eastern washington university (Tau Gamma) took 10 wonderful ladies through formally recruitment, and another 4 wonderful ladies through their first efforts at COBing. the thing that sucks about the quota setting is the they do it the night before preference, and this year it was set at 14, but then i think like 5 ladies dropped out the next day right before preference.
|
Congrats to AOIIs everywhere! We seem to all be doing well! Go AOII!
AOII For Life |
