Flounder. Its not really just a pledge name though. People called me that before I pledged (not my brothers) then my brothers started calling me that, and now everyone calls me that almost.

My pledge name ranged from Master "P" to Notorious (which I hated), now my chapter name is Diddy or just "P"

I really don't like my pledge name at all. I thought that you were supposed to earn your pledge names by f'ing up during the time you're pledging? One of the Brothers at the time just looked at me one day and said "You're an engineering major... you'll be GoBot..." It was very dissappointing. :( But some better ones from my Chapter: Nips (given because he has no nipples... shaved them off by accident when he was in high school) Piglet (this kid Jay had this unhealthy obsession w/ Disney, and he tended to be very timid and shy during pledging... like Piglet) Wet-Wac (my favorite! one of our Brothers Mark was very drunk one night, of his own accord mind you!, and spilled his jungle juice onto our frat house floor. he then proceed to stand up and shout "clean up in aisle 6... I got it!" and dropped to his knees and begin licking the juice off of our soaked-in-God-knows-what rug) Strawberry Gumdrop (this guy Jim was such a tough guy, ROTC, pretty built, really manly type dude, so I purposely gave him his name as one of the girliest names any of us could think of) MacGruff (once at a mixer, the sorority chicks were trying to leak fraternity secrets out of this one guy, he drunkenly responded with: "I'm not supposed to talk to strangers." and blew her off.) That's some highlights... but there are so may more (most of which I can't really explain here...). Anybody else out there have any good ones? |
My fraternity nickname given to me as an undergrad is O.p.i.e.
I guess my brothers thought I was some small town innocent kind, and realized that wasn't entirely the case...and hence the name o.p.i.e. I later added the periods and made my own little meaning: Other Phi's Imitate Excellence tried to throw a positive spin on things |

One of my pledge brothers' names was Silent Bob!
His name's Rob, but during pledging he hardly talked at all, cuz the other 5 of us in my class all sorta new each other, I guess he kinda felt outta place. But now he's one of my favorites! Just thought I'd share. |
My nickname is Hotpants. Reason- a certain outfit I went clubbing in and then being upset some strange guy wanted to "pet" me. Ick.
My chapter started giving Alumnae Names as well, since some sisters complained that names they received early on didn't really "define" them well, so their Alumnae name usually related to their nickname, but were more descriptive/positive. One of the posts talked about not knowing "real" names of people in other houses, only pledge names. How true. How am I supposed to know that "Teddy" isn't a real name? Worse, when the pledge name is "not-so-nice" and you don't want to say it, but you have no idea his real name- :confused: |
mines kinda stupid...at the time, and still kinda to this day, i was really obsessed with the smashing pumpkins, so they named me...*drumroll*...'smashing pumpkin' ... creative huh?

They called me mosT...I has a strong feeling to it. Also I was the only pledge the make it thru. So when people asked me I why they called me that I usually say. "mosT Perfect". The sororities called me mosty which I find cute.

Most everyone in my chapter just randomly earns a nickname. Mine are "Texas" (or The Texas Kid) and "Token 2." |

I had a few nicknames, none that really stuck. Gusteau is the only one that's used - and never in real life, only on GC. It came from the chef in Ratatouille. |
my sorority doesn't do nicknames for the most part- a few have stuck but not many.
but I have a nickname from the fraternity I'm a sweetheart for- Agent 99 because i'm so super stealthy. |
The seniors last year gave me the name Fundadora Francis because I'm Hispanic and have the same name as one of Zeta's founders (fundadoras).

I had a slew of nicknames, the only one that stuck was Aar Bear Square(like in math), Aar Bear, or Bear. My big brother and I had the same first name, so in order to keep us apart, verbally, this was more so in a conversation, Aar Bear Square came into existance. But on my bid nite I was named Harry, because my real big brother was nicknamed Potter.

In my chapter, we didn't get actual pledge names, but most of us had nicknames, I didn't even know one of the older guys real first name for the first semester I knew him...lol.
My nickname is XY after Kyle XY and all of the variations...I was the third Kyle in my chapter, so they had the nickname decided before I moved in freshman year! Others are: Brink (Another Kyle who had brought roller blades), Veugs (the third Kyle, they just shortened his last name), Weasel or Winston or Juice (My Pledge Dad's nicknames, all for various reasons), Ahab (One of the brothers who liked larger women!), Chunky (Skinny guy who had been bigger as a child), Skinny (A guy who had bulked up, not chunky though) They are all just fun things, most of them are considered badges of honor! XY |
when i pledged i had a red streak in my hair and apparently i look like the character from the movie hook. Hence, Rufio.
my other favorite nickname is Wizard. One of the guys got antiqued so his hair looked grey. that same night another brother asked wizard to run block for him while he went to the bathroom. everytime some came wandering in that direction he took a stand and screamed "you shall not pass" like gandolf in LOTR. and thus Wizard was born. |
I somehow got the pledge name of Cheese Nips. I'll go to my grave wondering about that one, but apparently the Pledge Educator has an odd sense of humor.
Still, it could've been worse. One of my pledge brothers is "Team Jacob." |

My offical Pledge name is Sticky, but all of my brothers just call me Sticks (STX). The origins of my pledge name are pretty self explanatory.
Everyone in our house has a pledge name, some brothers names are so good that we tend to forget their real name. Spanky Xerxes (from 300) Wiggels Shiksa Carlton Kazam Booger A.T.M.
