Just got back from GTau. Recruitment starts a week from today!!!
There were 144 pnms signed up so far (6 sororities). Deadline is tomorrow.

I went by the hall and between moving in the dorm and getting ready for rec..they are really pumped!

Heard a new cute song for the first time...yea that makes it new;)

On a side note, I know what shoes I WON'T be wearing, lol..a certain pair of clogs. For some reason, there is just the slightist rise in the carpeted hall floor going into the bathroom..not very noticeable. Fortunately, someone was there for me to grab onto before I fell.. (isn't that what sisters are for??) .ankle hurts a little but should be better tomorrow, lol. Glad I didn' miss the Panhellenic meeting. ;)

Recruitment was NOT GOOD. :( :mad: I'm waiting to hear the final COB numbers before I post our numbers.

Here's the deal: Quota was 17; 4 out of the 6 houses made quota, we did not, and neither did the other small house on campus. There is talk about lowering total because every sorority had to COB at least 10 to get to total, which is 75. About 150 signed up for formal, about 50 dropped, about 25 were not matched, and of those 25, about 20 were intentional single prefs. Over 40 of the 90 or so that matched were intentional single prefs. The greek advisor said he had never seen anything like it, but this is normal for us. I can't stand deferred to sophomore year recruitment, and I can't stand the mentality on that campus. I'm just so annoyed now. grrr....:mad: :mad: :mad:

I am proud to announce that Gamma Iota had 19 new members on Bid Day Saturday as a result of their hard work during recruitment, spirit week and many months of planning. While quota is 26 and we still have a little way to go, Gamma Iota’s returns each night during recruitment were a significant improvement over the last several years.....These women are excellent at COB and I am confident we will be at quota (and possible total) this semester. We will reach total before the end of this school year. When we do so, we will be at the same numbers as all three other NPC groups on campus.

YEAH for Gamma Iota! I love it when hard work pays off!

I'm not going to say too much right now about Delta Tau, but I do want to let you all know that you would be SO proud of them if you could see them in that recruitment room! They don't look like they colonized last semester. :)

I am helping out at Epsilon Psi this weekend for recruitment! I am so excited because I have not been involved in a really long time. First party is tonight, Second party is tomorrow afternoon and Preference is on Sunday afternoon. They are allowed 7 alumna. Can't wait to meet the other alumna and see the girls!!!:)

I'd love to attend another chapter's rush...okay, recruitment, lol. :)

I just wanted to put in one last word before heading off to Delta Tau's Preference! They've done soooo well during their first recruitment. Everyone is very proud of them! Pref starts at 7 p.m. tonight -- Pacfic Time -- and they have two one-hour events.

Epsilon Psi did an awesome job at recruitment! I was so impressed. And the girls were so beautiful and sweet (I might be a little biased ;) ) I wanted to pledge all over again. LOL.

And after all the work was done they got to celebrate with 18 New Baby Squirrels!!! :D

Side note, maybe Meredith can expand, but I heard through the grapevine that Epsilon Phi had an absolutely awesome rush this year also! Congrats to our girls at TWU!

Well, I know that many of you are awaiting the results from Chapman. Quota was 29 this year. I am MOST pleased to announce that yesterday Delta Tau Chapter matched with 26 brand new Baby Squirrels! :D :D :D

The sisters and new members are absolutely thrilled with the results of their first recruitment. We alumnae are so, so proud of them! The chapter hung right in there with the other sororities that had 15 years worth of experience working in their favor. I know they will take quota plus this time next year! ;)

Hey Girls!

Just to let ya'll know, Epsilon Zeta chapter got 31 New Members on August 30th. We went over quota! Many girls put us First on their pref cards and some even went block/suicide on pref nite! It is so amazing to have the best pledge class on campus. They truly are going to be a wonderful New Member class.

Weeell, I've had some time to cool down about recruitment, so I figured I'd report back to you guys. Here are Zeta Theta's numbers: We got 2 through formal and 4 through COB, for a total of 6. Quota was 17, which was achieved by everyone except us and 1 other house. All 6 chapters had to COB, and after COB, only 1 house is at total (75), because they managed to scrape together a pledge class of 28. There is serious talk about lowering total to 60-65, which, given the current percentages of greeks vs nonaffiliated, would be slightly more achievable for everyone.


Congratulations to all of the other Alpha Gam chapters that are kicking butt at recruitment, though! :D

Congrats to our new baby squirrels at Zeta Theta! :D

PS. If quota was only 17 this year it is impossible to expect chapters to Total at 75. Having total that much higher than what quota can produce will only hurt the smaller chapters. I hope they do lower that to something reasonable soon.

It is especially difficult to keep total at 75 considering recruitment is deferred to sophomore year, so we only have a pool of 3 classes to work with. This total was set when they still had freshman recruitment, and was never changed when they switched to sophomore recruitment about 8 years ago. This wasn't too much of a problem until about 3 years ago, when numbers began declining drastically. When I joined in '98, I believe quota was about 28, but dropped to the mid-to-low-20's the next few years, then was 19 last year and 17 this year. Really, if you look at the numbers, there's no reason to have total above 60. Luckily, there is a new Greek Advisor (this is his second year), and he is working on lowering total, which should help even everyone out and create a more level playing field.

Just to let you all know about Tau's recruitment so far... :)

Tonight was Orientation, when the girls met their RCs (one of which I am) and to learn the rules of FR. Rounds 1a and 1b are Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th; Round 2 is Saturday the 20th (weekend recruitment is a new thing to U of Toronto, wish us luck!), and Pref is Monday the 22nd with Bid Day on the 23rd!

I already have a Rush Crush out of my Rho Gamma group...a couple of the other AGDs met her at the Panhellenic Info Day last Friday and they just ADORE her as well!!

I have a feeling that Tau is poised to do VERY well this year... so keep us in your thoughts next week! I'll definitely keep everyone on here posted with the latest news :)

We have Spring Formal Rush but this year the Panhel opened the informal rush for sororities that didn't reach chapter total last spring. Three out of four didn't, but AGD was the only chapter to participate. With only one week for COBing/Informal, TU welcomed 4 new members, 5 were offered bids but don't know about the 5th.

This means that we're still the smallest but only by 3 with two chapters tied for 2nd.

Cannot wait till the Spring! Last year the chapter kicked butt! And they are doing some really positive things, ie going to Gatlingburg for sisterhood retreat this weekend and just having a positive presents on campus!
