This is a shot of my house taken from the dorm across the street. This is the back of the house.

This is my house
http://www.wsu.edu/hdrl/Greek/Sorori...igmaKappa1.jpg

But I think that my favorite other house on campus is Kappa's
http://www.wsu.edu/hdrl/Greek/Sorori...KappaGamma.jpg
Neither of the pictures does enough justice, there is so much of each house that you can't see in the pictures, but it's all I have. And I just noticed that both have trees in the middle of the front yards, completely blocking the best views of each house

I also love Sigma Chi's, but there house was condemed this year and they are in the process of fundraising for demolition and builing a new house, due around 2004/2005.

Take a House Tour Here

They also have a CATWALK in their house.

The pictures don't even do this house justice. I stayed there for 4 days for UIFI and it still floors me to think about the size and everything. It's a beautiful house and they don't even show most of it on the website. It's rather large and hooked up as far as location, space, and amenities. Alot of the girls live there from what we were told.

IU has some of the best houses in the nation. Phi Delts have a castle-style, they even call it the caslte. ADPi is really nice. Phi Mu has a beautiful house. Even the Phi Sigma Kappa house which needed alot of repairs was still nice.

trisigmaAtl 07-01-2003 01:03 PM

HOLY CRAP!!!!!, that palace could house my entire school!!!!!! I would be flabbergasted during rush if I had houses like that in front of me. All the greek houses at Oglethorpe look the same. They are four (that's right four, meaning they house 8 out of 45 people) bedroom split levels made of brick with a simple lettered arch way across the front. I mean they are all EXACTLEY the same. I never understood the hype about pnms possibly choosing a group because of their house, but now.....woooooo!!! that's alot to swallow!  :D

This is one of our newer houses at Texas A & M. I'm sorry I don't have a better pic of it but I know I've seen one somewhere. I think it is pretty big. That Alpha Xi house is amazing! I think it would be so great if everyone in the sorority got to live together b/c their house was big enough! You all with houses are lucky!

texas*princess 07-01-2003 02:19 PM

I *love* going to A&M and seeing all the pretty houses!!!!

I remember a few summers ago I went to SMSU (Southwest Missouri State U) and they had nice houses too!

SLUadpi 07-01-2003 03:02 PM

Wow, these are all amazing houses...I wish we had houses to live in...St. Louis has an old law that says that if a bunch of women are living in a house together, it is considered a "brothel" Maybe one day though.....sigh...

However, all the houses in Columbia (where I'm from) at Mizzou are all large and very beautiful houses, check out the ADPi house on their website! :D

absolutuscchick 07-01-2003 03:16 PM

Does anyone know why all the brothel laws are still in place? I'm transferring to ASU in the fall and I was surprised to hear from someone that there weren't any sorority houses due to that. My mom is a lawyer and I was talking to her about them and she was surprised that the laws hadn't been changed as well.

That AXiD house looks like a dorm. It's massive! Only a few fraternities on my campus had houses and they were dumps. I wish my school AND the Greeks cared enough to invest in housing! I would love to donate enough money to build Panhellenic husing...*sigh*

Please see 33girl's post on this thread . Brothel laws are an urban legend. There may be zoning regulations in place, but brothel laws do not exist (at least not anymore).

Link about brothel laws from Snopes.com

JohnsDGsweethrt 07-01-2003 03:46 PM

I thought ASU had houses? Maybe I am confusing that with LSU but I think they have houses. Oh I see they have commons. Well they sorta look like houses from the pics. Do they recruit out of these?

bruinaphi 07-01-2003 03:47 PM

Here are some of the fun A Phi houses in California...
One of my favorite Alpha Phi houses is at Cal:
http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~alphaph...ouse_small.jpg

My chapter house (UCLA) is also really nice but the pix are down right now.

I also like the chapter house at USC:

absolutuscchick 07-01-2003 03:48 PM

Thank you so much for clarifying!! No wonder my mom was so surprised/skeptical of the "laws"!!

I think.......actually it looks like preference is the only time where the recruitment is at the commons (according to the ASU greek website). Maybe the rooms or whatever are too small to accomodate large numbers of girls?

I go to Mizzou and I have to agree with you, our houses here ARE beautiful!!! I love the ADPi house, it's huge and beautiful!!! Most of the houses here are gigantic mansions. I will try to see if I can find some pics of the bigger houses!

FAB*SpiceySpice 07-01-2003 05:28 PM

I found a few of Mizzou's houses

Here are a couple of house pictures of the houses on my campus. I couldn't find one of ATO though :( which is sad, because it's HUGE and soooooo beautiful on the outside. These are really nice ones too though!!

Hey Fab, see if you can find any pics of the Kappa Sig house at Mizzou, either inside or out...i've been there, and it's awesome!

I am SOOOOOOOO jealous.... I wish my school would support greek housing... :( :( :(

WhiteDaisy128 07-01-2003 06:34 PM

Here are the nicer houses on our campus (in my opinion, of course!)

Fraternities:

TKE-
http://www.beta-beta.org/images/housefront.jpg
^ That's kinda a bad picture, but it's the best one I could find...though it does look more office-like than house-like, but it's cool on the inside.

Delta Sigma Phi-
http://www.offtherho.com/images/house.jpg
^ It's an old hotel that they bought a few years ago.

Alpha Gamma Rho-
http://www.geocities.com/agr_ncsu/Nov15_house.jpg
^ AGR's brand new house. - eh nevermind, forgot that geocities is a dummy and doesn't let people link to their images...just take my word for it...it's a nice house.

Sororities:

ZTA-
http://www.ncsu.edu/stud_orgs/frat_s...shedhouse2.jpg
^ This inside is so beautiful as well!

Chi O has an awesome house too, but I couldn't find any pictures.

Also, just some random DG houses that I'm in love with across the country:

Mississippi State:

Indiana University:

Hey, don't worry about it.... our school hasn't recognized Greeks since 1960. It has hindered us but it hasn't stopped us..... there are currently three Fraternities without houses, but they are on a long term plan (at least a decade) to each purchase a house near campus. So don't give up hope, just keep trying and save a little money every year to put into a housing fund... it may not happen for you, but think of the gift you gave give to those that follow.

phigamucsb 07-03-2003 06:00 PM

Here are some FIJI houses I like:

Here's a link to the Delt Shelter at Ohio University. I have a much better picture on my computer, but have been unable to post it for some reason.

www.oudelt.com

The house is built into a hill, and so goes a couple of floors down as well as up and is bigger than it looks. It sleeps over 40 out of a chapter which generally around 85-90.

my favorite house would have to be alpha phi up at university of delaware. http://copland.udel.edu/stu-org/alphaphi/ the picture on the front page does not come close to doing it justice. It was across from my dorm this semester and I loved it more every day (yeah, jealous much, i know)

UA Soph02,

That's a great link you provided. It's really nice to get a few words on each organization and to see their house as well.

I've been to the Delt House there.

Actually, while the houses at Arizona may appear smaller than the others pictured they still sleep between 50-70 women a piece. I think that's pretty darn big! I think our houses are beautiful because they are different than the usual brick and column numbers you see other places. The pictures really don't do the houses justice, like mine for example. That picture is so old, it doesn't include a lot of the landscaping that we've had done.

This is my favorite house on the row. The rumor around campus has been that the round turret is a secret room, but a Beta told me that it's really just the trophy room.
(what I want to know is why do people think they would build a secret room so obvious and with so many windows?)
