agreed with all of it.
add to it...when you have to build in greek chat time to your day and it doesn't bother you a bit. |
Oooh me too...
you call ppl by their real names
Done that! ...your best form of entertainment comes from AOL GC chats I feel sooo left out! I wanna come, I wanna come! when you want to or actually go to a gc meeting Yes! I wanna. Kelly? Did anything happen with the big plan? ( :D -- just typed Navane's name automatically without even thinking of first item in list!) When you actually try and relay a particularly humourous thread/post to your friends out in the real world. (I *almost* did that the other day...) Done *that* at an interest meeting! You don't wanna know which post... trust me. When you have a question/experience and GC is one of the first places you think of to ask/tell. Where else? :p When you know that the Chit-Chat forum is where all the loonies hang out. Here. Present and correct. When you understand Tom Earp's posts Check. When you puke from the GC Drinking Game There's a GC drinking game? I'd better search. When you have more GC Crushes then real life crushes Possibly ;) I'm still hoping there's some GC'ers too shy to speak out :p When you reply to a thread entitled "You know you've been on GC too much when..." and you have no intention of decreasing the time you spend on GC. As a matter of fact, you'll probably increase it because everyone is preparing for recruitment. Proudly :p When you can quote someone's signature (without looking at your computer) to another friend who uses GC when talking about a thread you both read on GC Yup, at least one. When you have figured out exactly how to post a picture on GC Check I admit it - I sometimes check my PMs before my email... Guilty. You're plannin road trips with a GCer you've never met to go see more GCers you've never met! Hmm... slammin' idea... you read this thread and think that almost everyone posting on it is still wet behind the ears :D Nope. But that last one made me laugh! And to add... you know you're addicted to GC when someone else sets up a thread for you on your special day to wish ya Happy Birthday. -- Richard. |

i think you guys have pretty much covered all the aspects of spending too much time on GC. But you may need to add a couple, like you know you spend too much time on GC when your sig letters and line takes up more space than your actual posts, and when you make up alternate identities to vent your frustrations.
I'm definately guilty of all of the ones mentioned. SATX is right, to anyone at the bar that night, they'd have heard us talking bout Killarny, Diva, KDatUTC, etc and had NO idea what the hell we were saying. I catch my self typing her name in posts and referring to 'lifesaver' when i'm telling my family why i'm so hungover on mornings after. i haven't gotten a drunk GC call from another state in awhile, i'm kinda sad :( Ah GC, we love thee :D Kitso KS 361 times i've typed what i'm gonna do 361 times |

when it no longer embarrasses you that you've cried at sweet stories posted by people you've never met on a message board and then you share the story with friends or family and tell them exactly where you heard it with the basic jist being: "The other day on Greekchat, carnation said..... and justamom said...and GPhiBLtColonel said... and I wish XYZ were at my school!"... followed by tears, then realizing that you actually SAID XYZ instead of the real letters (slight exaggeration, but you understand).

I look forward to going through 6-10 pages of threads that are listed in the 'Threads' section and get disappointed when there are only 1-3 pages.
Every computer that I use in my lab at school has 'Welcome back SigmaDiva' when I go to the Directory page. Wondering what others have replied to threads I posted in. Look forward to healthy debates on crazy topics. Despite the fact that I'm in a NPHC org, I too get excited about Rush threads, considering that I've NEVER been through a NPC rush. It is more fun to join a thread than to just lurk and read what everyone else has said. Trying to tell the people in my life some of the funny and interesting things that come up on GC and they look at me like:confused: , and say 'WTF is GC?' Finally figuring out what the letters 'ROTFLMAO' mean. There are a few more I am still working on. When ever I have 5 minutes between experiments, I run to see what is going on on GC. I always try to figure out the XYZ sorority. |

Your brother is online and you say "Get off! I have to check a GC thread to see if one of the PNAMs has announced her AI chapter yet and see if **** has PM'd me!" Met with cofused looks - then he checked my forehead for a fever.

one of our yells(A&M has yells, not cheers): Farmers Fight! Farmers Fight! Fight! Fight! Farmers, Farmerss Fight! A! WHOOP!!!!!! There were lots of schools that used Aggies as mascots, most changed when they changed their names from A&M's to states, i.e. OSU used to be oklahoma A&M. Others still use it, like New Mexico State and NC A&T. Kitso KS 361 times i'm a Fightin' Texas Aggie and will be until i die! |

(yes, they have to practice - remember there farmers, not scientists, lol). Picture this, 8,000 aggies in overalls and maroon all yelling, "Hullabaloo kanuck, kanuck" Or some wierd business like that. /QUOTE] That is freaking hilarious, lifesaver! I had a prof once who was an Aggie and good hella gracious did he ever drive us nuts! He'd sit there and "practice" his yells DURING (yes DURING) our EXAMS!! He'd also make us say "Howdy" whenever we went into his office! And, no offense intended to any Aggie's out there, he was such an ego-maniac!! BUT, on a positive note for the Aggie's, I have met a few sisters from there online and they are SUCH sweethearts - so its for them that I will "officially" stay out of this potential blowout! |
you know you're on gc too much when first thing you do when you get home from bein out is make a billion drunk posts and then promise yourself you will edit when more sober, but the next day when you read them you think, "why....why bother....these ppl KNOW me....."

I think that the Aggie War Hymn starts out "Hullaballoo kanuck kanuck, Hullabaloo kanuck." When all those students were killed at the Aggie bonfire a few years back, the University of Texas played the Aggie War Hymn at halftime of their game. Though I'm not a crier, I burst into tears in front of my astonished husband. All the years of antagonism between those 2 teams and UT played the War Hymn in honor of those students--maybe one would have to be a longtime Texan to truly understand what a tribute that was..... |

The outpouring of support that A&M recieved from UT in my mind solidified the status of A&M and UT the epitome of rivals. You can't imagine 2 more different schools, but the history of Texas and both institutions are intertwined from the beginning. The Ags and Horns will fight each other tooth and nail, but when push comes to shove, we are brothers and sisters under the Lone Star first and foremost. In spite of the great tragedy, the bond between the 2 schools strengthened and that is something that most Ags, including me, will never forget LIFE- Sorry to break this to you bud, but you ain't no horn. Just because you went to UTSA doesn't make you a longhorn. You're a Roadrunner, be proud. That makes as much sense as someone that goes to A&MK callin themself an Ag. Merely someone who is trying to be someone they ain't. Oh, and Midnight Yell is usually in excess of 20,000 at Kyle Field. The 8,000 number is closer to what it is when we have Yell Practice at the steps of the capitol before the game with UT. Do you want me to go into the Hex rally y'all throw? wait, sorry, that UT throws? i dont' think UTSA throws one. nothing sounds more high schoolish, "we're gonna curse you" than a bunch of hippies lighting candles, hoping some Voodoo queen named phyllis will help their fortunes. Hullabaloo, Caneck Caneck are the opening strains of the Fightin Texas Aggie War Hymn. Noone is exactly sure what exactly they mean. They either reference the sound a train makes, passing by on rails (in homage to the days when College Station was merely a train depot) or the sound it makes when you load a shell into a cannon. Cream, A&M is more now than an Agricultural school. A&M was founded under the Morril Land Grant Act of 1862 which stated that each state would put aside land for the purpose of an institution of higher learning with grounding in agriculture and engineering. Today A&M's enrollment is 40,000+, with A&M's Lowry Mays Business School and Look Engineering College being among the top programs in the country in their fields. yeah libra, it must be pretty heinous to have to put up with people who's alma mater is steeped in tradition and history and then have them be immensely proud of it. But don't feel too safe, the Aggie invasion of Florida starts in Sept. 2006 when the Ags travel to tallahassee to take on the the crimaNoles. I'll be sure to WHOOP! really loud for you.....maybe it'll generate some pride in your own school, whatever the hell school you went to. Kitso KS 361 times that being an Aggie is more than what it says on your diploma, its about heart, soul, tradition and some people just don't have enough to become one. |
