Britney never really claimed to be poor. What she and her mother have said was that spending so much money on vocal and dance lessons took a lot of money they didn't always have. Britney and her mother stayed 40 minutes outside of NY to save on hotels and such to not spend as much money. Her family always seemed to have a nice home in Kentwood. Just to help clarify.;)

Well, I think you'd have to look pretty hard to find a 4,000 sq. ft. house in Nelsonville. It isn't destitute, but it is in one of Ohio's poorest (Apalacian) counties. The area is beautiful, but made up mostly of farms and former coal mining towns. The university is, by far, the biggest employer.

I'd be inclined to believe the bio in this case.

I watched Sarah Jessica Parker's interview on Inside the Actor's Studio a few years ago. She said that coming from such a large sized family money was tight, but she felt like she never lacked things that were essential. She had hand me downs and leftovers, but she also had dance and acting lessons. She said that there were a lot more free programs for children when she was a child in the 1970s. Plus the arts were important to her parents.

I am currently greek at the university of Cincinnati, and our greek life is indeed improving. I honestly had never heard of anyone being in trouble for hazing since I have been here, the only reason a chapter has closed in the past 3 years is for low numbers. Anyway, when I was going through rush, my rho gamma *who happened to be a theta phi* and quite a few of the theta phis that rushed me said that Sarah Jessica Parker was indeed a Theta Phi Alpha at UC, but never graduated. I just thought it was true because they claimed her during recruitment, oh well, don't know if it's 100% true or not.

All hail snopes.com

It's pertaining to something else, but confirms SJP's college history (or lack of same).

Not saying this is necessarily the case, but between 1965, and when I finished my degree in 1990, it could have been said "completed high school" about me as well.

Not that I have anywhere near the credentials listed, but I dropped out of college to take a job -- an opportunity I couldn't afford to pass up at the time. I later finished my degree, but didn't get back to finish those 14 hours for many years because my career took up a lot of time.

My only point is that, whether I agree with these folks or not, it is very misleading to make comments like "completed high school." That doesn't make them dumb.

It doesn't make them smart either. In fact, I don't respect quite a few of the entertainers listed. I just hate this kind of propaganda coming from either side.

DeltAlum, you weren't supposed to read that part, silly. :p Just where the nice snopes lady confirms that they went to college or not.

DeltAlum 08-25-2003 12:03 AM

Oh. You're right. How silly.

My Bad.

But, that's just the point of the email. They are trying to discredit the celebrities and make them seem dumb. :p I tend not to pass on forwards, in order to not accelerate the dumbing down of America.

33, isn't snopes.com the greatest? ;)

So, I think we're agreeing. What this is is another propaganda technique.

And, we don't need anything more to accelerate the dumbing down. That's going just fine without much outside influence.
