More news...

I have been invited to the Alums' installation of new officers on May 31!!! This is so cool. There will probably be at least one summer function, so I'm told.

Perhaps I will have something to look forward to in the fall???

Lizz (PNAM tinydancer)

tinydancer 05-19-2003 12:16 PM

This was funny!

My sponsor lent me some of her "Gryffindor" magazines so I could read about the sorority. (I'm just calling it Gryffindor instead of ABC or somesuch) I looked at all the info. about the chapters in my area. For one chapter, I found the name of the sister-in-law of one of my best friends!! I had no idea she is Greek, much less a Gryffindor!! I have known the s-i-l for some time through another club. So I run to the phone, and leave my friend a message - screaming - "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME LINDA IS A GRYFFINDOR????" I guess my friend either didn't remember or just didn't think to mention it!

Just had to laugh!!

JohnsDGsweethrt 05-19-2003 12:39 PM

That is funny! Yeah keep us posted! Can't wait to find out who the lucky sorority is!

GPhiBLtColonel 05-19-2003 05:25 PM

what i wanna know tiny....

...is when you are gonna share with us the name of the sorority that as JohnsDGsweetheart says is a lucky sorority -- it sure is lookin' PRETTY DARN CERTAIN you will be alum initiated as a "gryffindor" come Fall!!!!!!;) I mean look at all the coincidences that have happened vis-a-vis you and Gryffindor in the past months!!!
You know I am very happy to hear your great news! Be sure to tell us all about it on June 1st!!!
:D

texas*princess 05-19-2003 05:39 PM

I can't wait to hear how the alum officer installion went!!!! (yea.. I know it's still like 2 weeks away, but I still can't wait!!!!!!)

I hope things continue to go wonderfully with you and the lucky lucky sorority!!!!

SmartBlondeGPhB 05-19-2003 07:00 PM

I'd have to agree with Cele. BUT, I was always the one crawling under the Christmas tree and shaking the presents AFTER spending weeks searching the house for them!

Patience just isn't my best trait.............

LoL!!! I am the same exact way!!! I went to the Dallas Alumnae Panhellic Association's website in hopes that maybe I could at least *try* to narrow it down, but alas, there are 20 sororities represented in the Dallas area!! (Which I think is wonderful! It just doesn't help me narrow it down! lol!) ;)

Tom Earp 05-19-2003 10:44 PM

As Co-Mod on this Thread, I want us to know as damn soon as possible, what Soroity, and where!

I am the omnopresient C O on this thread!:)

Goodest and Bestes of and for the coming of the end of May!

May Floweres brings Sring Floweres!

T D You Go Girl!!!!!!!!

GPhiBLtColonel 05-19-2003 11:20 PM

Okay......this is waaaaay off track but....

...am I the only gal out there in GC land who is totally enamored by Tom Earp and his humorously fractured posts? If I weren't the crabby old retired broad that I am....oh yeah, married too...I might have to admit I am in love ;)

...sigh...

tinydancer 05-20-2003 12:20 AM

Oh, I think we are ALL enamored with Tom and his unique way with words!!

I just am on pins and needles waiting for the 31st and meeting some more lovely Gryffindors!! Wish I could give you all more of a hint, but I don't want to jinx it.

Don't worry - you will hear all about it right after the meeting.

pinkyphimu 05-20-2003 05:47 PM

lizz, i love that you are referring to the mysterious sorority as the gryffindors...great idea!! have fun at the meeting!

texas*princess 05-20-2003 05:48 PM

dorky question

hehehe.. i'm soooo lost.. what is a gryffindor?

Gryffindor is that house that Harry Potter is in at his school "Hogwarts".

Liz (tinydancer) is using "Gryffindor" as a pretend sorority name, because, in the interests of being discreet, she does not want to reveal the sorority's "real name" just yet! :D (You know, not to jinx it and all that!)

Also, in a different thread, some of us were saying, "Wouldn't it be easier if instead of Rush, we could plop a 'sorting hat' on all the rushees' heads (again, from Harry Potter) and then the rushees would know which house they truly belonged in.

Oh, and I think I chimed in, then which sorority would be the evil Slytherin house?...LOL

texas*princess 05-20-2003 06:07 PM

CutiePie, thanks for the Harry Potter clarification!! Hehehe.. I never did read any of the Harry Potter books, so I guess that's why I'm lost!

I can totally understand why she would want to keep the sorority name a secret (even I did that in my rush thread!) I just wasn't sure what a gryffindor was! Maybe I'll pick up one of those Harry Potter books for a nice summer read!

Thanks again!! :)

Aw, you're so welcome.
Here is the "Sorting Hat thread" that we were getting our inspiration from.
http://forums.greekchat.com/gcforums...rin#post381021
And yes, do read the Harry Potter books, they're terrific! :D

Tom Earp 05-20-2003 10:46 PM

OMG, Okay, I am blushing! Have not had that many nice things said in a long !!!!

In my perfect non-Earp Speak,

Tinydancer,

I and We are waitin and hoppin for the very best for you and are just waiting with baited breath to hear about your Good Fortune!!!

Damn, hurry up, I am getting blue in the face from holding my breath!:D

JohnsDGsweethrt 05-21-2003 02:49 AM

I was thinking maybe tiny dancer could give us a hint like one of the colors of Gryffindor? So that way we could narrow it down in our minds? lol

tinydancer 05-21-2003 10:57 AM

Ohhhh, I'm afraid not! That might totally give it away (Yep, I know - that's what you want!!!)

I'm still not sayin'

till it's for sure!!
;)

texas*princess 05-21-2003 11:03 AM

::thinking::

hmm.. so there are distinct colors...hmmm...

:p j/k!

Yes, tiny d, best to keep 'mum'..the colours would DEFINITELY give it away. ;)
Hang in there, my impatient Panhellenic sisters, the "Sorting Hat" will reveal ALL soon enough! :D
-------------------------------
P.S. The above may or may not be a "red herring".

JohnsDGsweethrt 05-21-2003 11:48 AM

ok i can respect that! ;) i just know some of us have the same color (like blue) as one of the colors but if the colors are distinct i don't want you to give it away. we'll just have to wait :) good luck!

Hehe, not fair! I have 2 sororities that I think Gryffindor might be...

CutiePie2000 05-21-2003 12:39 PM

Well, in Harry Potter's Gryffindor, the colors are red and yellow, which are also the colors of my amycat's University of Southern California Trojans, and are, coincidentally, also the colors of Chi Omega!
Coincidence? Ah...the plot thickens...
But perhaps, I am just using this thread to practice my HTML and UBB skills??

Mwah ha ha ha!

MTSUGURL 05-21-2003 12:41 PM

That was the only one I could think of....

These AI threads are worse than rush threads!!! The suspense is killing me. ;)
Crystal

edited because I can't type.....

texas*princess 05-21-2003 12:44 PM

lol I agree!!! I can't wait to hear how it turned out!!! The event is only a few days away!!!!

CutiePie, I guess it pays to know your Harry Potter stuff! I would have never made a correlation like that!

FuzzieAlum 05-21-2003 12:47 PM

I don't think any two NPC sororities have identical colors all around - several use blue, for example, but none have the same combination of blue and whatever. So giving away the colors would be the same as giving away the letters.

So true, Fuzzie.
Like A Xi D has a bit of overlap with their blue and gold theme with KKG's colors (no gold though) and Tri Delta's colors (they have gold and silver also)

AUDeltaGam 05-21-2003 12:52 PM

I was thinking either Pi Beta Phi or Zeta Tau Alpha !

I can't wait to find out!
