LuaBlanca 04-17-2003 10:39 PM

LuaBlanca = White Moon in Portuguese, my native language. The night I decided to register for GC it was a full moon and I noticed how it was glowing bright WHITE and I thought LuaBlanca was pretty written out....it's also my Yahoo! handle (well, that's aluablanca, but anyway...)

ya, definately interested in breathesgelatin....and KappaTarzan...(Kappa is obvious but I'm wondering about the Tarzan part...!)

kappaloo 04-17-2003 10:47 PM

Peaches-n-Cream 04-17-2003 11:24 PM

I'll never tell.

sherbertlemons 04-17-2003 11:25 PM

A few people have actually figured mine out before. Sherbertlemons is one of the passwords to dumbeldore's office in the Harry Potter books, as well as his favorite candy. All hail the biggest dork in the universe...

carnation 04-17-2003 11:33 PM

(SCI - Sensitive Compartmented Information, compartment RIDICULOUS; NOFORN - not for foreign dissemination; BBR - Burn Before Reading -- no such restriction exists!) :) ;) :D

haha, when I posted I didn't even realize people were wondering about it. It's so bad. The poem is so bad. I liked it at the time, though. I used it for livejournal and then just sort of used it here too. It uses gelatin as a metaphor for the inability of young people to communicate in the world, and their willingness to line up into trend scenes or stupid (at least IMHO) political causes. Beyond that, it's basically stream of consciousness weirdness, like if I was on acid, only I wasn't. :p I was a semi-unhappy, sexually frustrated kid!

THE POEM:

there's gelatin in the toilet and
i am feeling woozy
sophomores biting cats
fishtails
the sogginess of the number 1
is drenching me in depression
chunks of oranges are
floating in your eyes
easily mistaken for cannonballs
the constitutional right to
gumballs
must not be infringed
you've already lined up
behind charlton heston
you've already lined up
in the punk rawk scene
what will you turn into
pop culture next?
when will you decide
to take the skin off the grapes
and remove my apple core?
i look through the solid toilet water
i don't want to love you
you little sell-out

ah, adolescence..... what a wonderful time!

oooo, i know :p

But, i'm sure KappaT would rather wait and explain it herself

Kitso
KS 361 times i'm thinkin bout changing my GC name, but don't want to lose all my posts :(

SigkapAlumWSU 04-18-2003 05:48 AM

SigKap - Sigma Kappa
Alum - I was an alum when I registered and even though I reactivated, it'll be correct in about another year again, when I graduate, so I figure, keep it.
WSU - Washington State University, my school.

aephi alum 04-18-2003 08:37 AM

aephi - I'm an AEPhi
alum - I'm an alum

Pretty straightforward and unoriginal, really :)

I honestly thought it would be taken when I registered, since many of the "___ Alum" names are, so I just typed it in, all lowercase, and was very surprised when I got it. To do over again, it would be AEPhiAlum, but I don't want to lose all those posts :p

jennybloch 04-18-2003 09:11 AM

Since everyone gives me such a hard time, I'll explain.

I'm NOT some psycho Jennifer Lopez fan

I'm not EVEN a fan, really...maybe of some of her better movies (i.e. not "enough" <shudders>)

This song was on the radio when I set up my profile and I couldn't think of anything else. Okay, everyone can stop picking on me now heh.

MSKKG 04-18-2003 09:56 AM

MSKKG: MS for Mississippi, the state and the University; KKG because I'm a Kappa Kappa Gamma. All caps seemed more appropriate than all lower case.

lifesaver 04-18-2003 11:30 AM

lifesaver:

NOT for the candy, but because when I first registered on here I was a lifeguard at a theme park. lifeguard was already taken, so I had to use lifesaver. I often wonder how many people think my screen name is about the candy, lol.

juniorgrrl 04-18-2003 11:37 AM

When I registered, i was trying to be a bit nebulous about my whereabouts, because I had some questions about Rush Gone Wrong.

SO, I was going to be a junior in college, and I'm a girl so...juniorgrrl.

I need to change it now that I'm an LSU Alum, 1L at LSU law school and still a girl. :)

pinkyphimu 04-18-2003 01:26 PM

mine isn't particularly exciting...pink is my FAVORITE color ever! it just totally worked out that i became a phi mu. i made this nickname up bc i was on a greek related message board. my favorite nick name is mahleeta. one of my students couldn't say my name (maria) and said mahleeta instead. it was cute.

kateshort 04-18-2003 03:02 PM

Back when I was at Valpo and first got an email account, I was also into gaming. Some of the guys at the PMA house had titles for their characters and stuff, so I liked that. Since I'm only 5' 1/2", I chose the nickname Kate the Short.

When I needed to change my email account username recently, I changed it to kateshort from katew, because it's shorter to type than katetheshort.

I wanna know why shadokat picked that name, though... wonder if it's an X-Men reference, or something else...

honeychile 04-18-2003 03:38 PM

Honey & Honeychile were my childhood nicknames. And, I am one! ;)

honeychile

edited to add: on other message boards, Honey with a capital H is usually taken, so the small h lets me be a little lazy...

Optimist Prime 04-18-2003 04:39 PM

Mine is because I'm the leader of a race of giant robots. :p

AXJules 04-18-2003 04:43 PM

Nu-huh!! You're the PRIME MINISTER, remember? Don't lie, lol........

shopgirl 04-18-2003 04:57 PM

I picked my name from the movie, "You've Got Mail."
I didn't want to use my name, or my letters/org (I don't know why:rolleyes: ) and I was in love with this movie at the time.

AngelPhiSig 04-18-2003 05:03 PM

Angel: I am an angel!!

Phi Sig: Im a Phi Sigma Sigma!

My AIM name: StarletAngel521
I was bored with my old name and came across my old Magic: The Gathering cards and my fav artwork was always on the "StarlitAngel" card... I tried that, taken. So I changed it to Starlet, cos I am one ;) and Angel... duh... 521 was Jim Poulos' last day in RENT (my fav actor at the time)... to bad Matt couldnt wait til 5-21 to join the cast, he went on 5-20... grr ;)

ladyj39 04-18-2003 09:50 PM

LadyJ - My favorite character from GI Joe. I remember her as one of the first strong, independent women on TV that could kick some ass but also had a sensitive side. I know it was just a cartoon, but I was 10! I still have her figurine!

39- No, it's not my age. It's my favorite number!

Peaches-n-Cream 04-18-2003 10:24 PM

You already told. I could've sworn you told us what your original screen name was.

valkyrie 04-18-2003 10:36 PM

LOL, I have a pretty good memory, and I remember Cream telling us how she came up with the name the last time somebody asked about screen names.

The secret is safe with me, though!
