Also people, do try to be nicer. Some of the posters on this thread could charitably be called rather disparaging of UDZETA's inquiry if not downright patronizing.

Now I have interacted with UDZETA and can attest that she not only presents herself well, is well spoken, but also shows a keen intellect.

We should all endeavor to show her some intellectual courtesy.

I think some of the moderators on GC should be replaced. They are so inconsistent. UF Pike posts something that is offensive and he gets banned. A different poster might say something equally offensive and the post doesn't even get deleated?

I am envesious of some of my greek members who do not go out to get a tan! I burn like hell but tan! S, N, E, and many others dont have to work on it!

So What! It dont rub off people!

I Will be more than proud to Kiss any of the Ladys of any Soroity when we can get together and meet, I will hug and shake hands with the Many Brothers of different Fraternitys that I have met!

We are all some what the same, the love for our Organizations and the people who we deal with everyday on this site!

This thread isn't about Tom or any other mod. The reason for UFP being banned has been spelled out by the site admin. Don't know what more you could ask for. The guy was banned before, created another account, shouldn't have even been back here in the first place.

That post is really bad. I think if you find the original thread you can read it in its context. Personally, I find that type of language terribly offensive.

I think that your post is an attempt to take the negative focus off UF-Pike and put it on Tom. It doesn't change things with UF_Pike, and I think that it won't reverse the ban.

We've discussed this subject before, and basically, the consensus is that if enough people complain, the moderators act on the complaints. Apparently, the moderators got enough complaints about UF_Pike to take action, but not enough people complained about that post of Tom's . . . not surprising, since it's pretty tough to make sense of his posts half the time anyway. :p

Besides, one post of Tom's is hardly equivalent to countless posts of UF_Pike's which have been offensive to minorities and women.

For the millionth time mods cannot ban people. If mods could ban, some mods would have banned pike along time ago. John has given that guy more chances than you can count.

No there are no set guidelines to what leads to censure or banning.

And yes, some people can probably get away with stuff that others can't ;).

Very few people get banned on GC. So the debate usually happens when a long time user gets banned as opposed to the ones that get banned really quickly for spam or utter vulgarity.

As Zntke succinctly put, the moderators do not ban. Only the site Admin, John, does.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't belief John is omniscient or omnipresent. Sorry John if you are lol.

So he relies on what he reads, complaints he receives via PM or email, but primarily the viewpoints of moderators.

So basically the opinions and experiences of moderators will do a lot to sway those types of decisions in either direction.

That is like....every guy at some point in life.

UF_Pike and Imthechamp are rookie pain in the a$$es. I've been banned more than those two put together (but less than the V's and VS). But have no fear, I am a good girl now, haven't been thrown off of GC over a year.

It was a proven fact that one person was posting under different names. I defended UF-Pike until he got so bad posting, I even thought he should be banned.

Being Banned is not a Mod Decision but John H's. There were discussions about this individual many times over because of what was being posted. No one was the reason for him to be banned but himself!

Great guy or not , he became a total jerk on site!

Let me ask you mister/miss, if everytime some called you names about something that they had no idea about, what would you think? If the language was totally abusive, what would you think?

If you dont like being on GC, then you are welcome to depart at anytime, no one is forcing you to be here!:confused:

I don't want to get into this but there's a difference in the use of words like that between friends/fraternity brothers and using them in front of complete strangers or on message boards.

Different types of language are appropriate for difference situations -- I'll talk a lot differently at the bar than I will on TV for example.
