Hello. My name is aopirose and I am a Greek Trivia Nerd!

You scored: 15 / 15
Total points: 150
The average score for this quiz: 8 / 15

Great job, AR. I only see one thing that may or may not be an error. Question 5 has Alpha Epsilon Pi as a selection. If you are doing all NPC groups then it should be Alpha Epsilon Phi.

SATX*APhi 04-07-2003 11:39 AM

I got 5/15!! I did just wake up and was "guessing" on a few, rather than thinking about it. Oh well. Better luck next time. :)

Greekgrrl 04-07-2003 11:48 AM

I am also a great big nerd.

15/15

Although I guessed on the flower one -- I could only think of 4 off the top of my head, so I just assumed more... now I need to go look it up!

11/15...well, I cut myself some slack for not being NPC!

SororgrlADPi 04-07-2003 12:51 PM

Considering there are only four NPC organizaiton on my campus:

Alpha Delta Pi, Phi Mu, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Chi Omega......

I got 12 out of 15.....(I guessed on the last one....oh well)! Woo Hoo!

Here's another great question to add onto the quiz:
Which sorority has this badge restriction?
(to my knowledge, this is the only NPC sorority with this restriction, but I could be mistaken)
"No other pin, badge, insignia, such as a fraternity pin, Greek letter indicating the name of a chapter or a symbol denoting an office, may be attached to the badge in any way, whether by a chain or by hanging it on the fastener."

Teensy hint: It's not Delta Gamma, but I will tell you that it's a 3 lettered NPC

sherbertlemons 04-07-2003 01:14 PM

13/15... not bad for a relative newbie.

I missed the youngest and the sorority without a crest.

(Raising hand and waving wildly)

Oooh, Oooh, I think I know! Is it Alpha Omicron Pi?

BTW, I got 14 out of 15. I got the last question wrong.

Yep, that's us!

With my best Ed McMahon impression, "You are correct, siiirrrrr!" Ma'am in your case, GLG. ;)

We like to be different! :) No crest, no open motto, no attachments to our badge, etc

Ok, so it's only average, but I've only been greek for a few months. I'm pretty proud that I knew the ones I did. :)

ASUGPhiB 04-08-2003 04:28 AM

7/15. That is bad. But, since I got all the answers correct about the sororities we have on my campus I do not feel so bad

cutiepatootie 04-08-2003 06:01 AM

12/15 Not bad for an alum initate and considering there was no M/c on that last one!:D Plus i would be a bad Alpha Phi if i didn't get that alum initate question right. hehehhe

oceanphi01 04-08-2003 09:28 AM

9/15

I was surprised. It's a good quiz to get to know the other NPC organizations.

violets 04-08-2003 12:36 PM

I got 13/15, I missed the Longwood College one and did bad math with the flower question. Oh well, still a pretty good score!

ladyj39 04-08-2003 02:03 PM

Not bad, I guess...

Great quiz! The flower question at the end, definately a good one!

PSUSigKap 04-09-2003 10:10 AM

12/15 not too shabby if i do say so myself! :)

9/15... ouch!

A lot of them I narrowed the answer down to 2 & then picked the wrong one! A lot of stuff that I know I've seen mentioned or discussed & just couldn't remember. I got all of the KKG stuff 'cause that's my biological sis's sorority. ;)

Yes, here is the reason why:

Shields and Crests

After years of discussions at Convention, Alpha Omicron Pi adopted the established policy and tradition that the Fraternity which has an essentially Greek heritage and not one of medieval or Masonic background would never have a shield or crest as a symbol. Our feeling of reverence and as a protection of our one sign, the monogram of our essential motto, is established as traditional. Any decal or other symbol resembling a crest or shield should not be purchased.

navane 04-11-2003 08:12 PM

Wow! 13/15!! Pretty outstanding for someone who isn't in an NPC sorority!!

The two that I got wrong were the "youngest sorority" question (I was going to pick the one which was correct and then changed my mind. Doh!) and the "how many out of the 26 orgs don't use roses, carnations or violets as a flower?" Puh-lease who gets that question right off the top of their head?? :) :)

.....Kelly :)

-- Now I don't want to hear a peep out of anyone who says that alumnae initiates aren't as knowledgeable!! :p Sha-zam!!!!

bcdphie 04-11-2003 08:52 PM

10/15 - yeah I'm above average :).

AOIIalum 04-11-2003 11:04 PM

CutiePie, thanks for sharing that wonderful fact about AOII with everyone! Where other groups use a crest, we use our beautiful rose. Back when I was in college, the college bookstore sold something that looked suspiciously like shot glasses (remember, I pledged 20 years ago!) with a fake AOII shield/crest thing on them. They wondered why we never bought them up with all the other sorority and fraternity items sold like hotcakes.

Back when I was in college forever ago, a local fast food restaurant right next to campus had a wooden plaque on a back wall with all of the crests of the NPC, NIC and NHPC groups at Louisville. I loved looking at everyone's crests (and the greeks were always sitting in and around that booth!) but our rose was so distinctive surrounded by everyone else's crests. Too cool!

Once in a while you'll see some goofy 'shield' looking thing with AOII in the middle on E-bay. Ugh.

Christin

ETA: Thought it was worth noting how long ago I went to college. I'd guess you can't purchase items today that look suspiciously like shot glasses with any reference to a GLO.

carnation 04-12-2003 11:21 AM

12/15. I didn't know the youngest (thought it was TPA) or which was the oldest to have a Greek letter name (thought it was Kappa) and I just took a wild shot at the flower question.

AOIIAlum, I know the fake AOII crest you're talking about! It's gray with the letters in red, right? That's what they used at Auburn when I was there and then my daughter informed me when she pledged that y'all don't use a crest. I haven't seen the fake crest decal for years, just a red rose.

AOIIalum 04-12-2003 05:10 PM

I swear I can't remember the color combination of the thing, but it was a shield with the letters on it, and then some swirly type leafy type things on the right and left side. I haven't seen it in ages either.

AGDAlum 04-13-2003 08:00 PM

I got 14 out of 15 -- my wrong answer was DPhiE instead of SDT.

However, I noted that the quiz is about "Panhellic" sororities. It should be about "Panhellenic" groups.

GPhiBLtColonel 04-13-2003 10:55 PM

I was worried....

...that I would not get them all right seeing as how I created a Panhel Jeopardy game several years ago -- look at my bio -- I am a Panhel trivia GEEK! -- I am happy to report I got 15/15!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

11/15 not bad at all....good quiz I learned some new info about some sororities that I didn't know abt *smile*

Rio_Kohitsuji 04-21-2003 10:23 AM

Heh..well...I got 6/15...not bad for a non-greek I say :) But, for as long as I've been on here..I kinda feel like I should have done much better!
