What about Wednesday or Thursday?

What about Wednesday (7/9) evening or Thursday (7/10) morning or afternoon?

I think those would work. Will anyone have a car? I won't, but I really want to go to the outlets.;)

Choo-ChooAKA 06-10-2003 03:16 PM

Outlets

Have you checked with the hotel? Maybe they have shuttles. I'll check the Paris.

AKA2D '91 06-10-2003 11:19 PM

Is someone planning an "official" GC gathering? OR are you all planning to meet somewhere? I know there is another gathering going on. Is anyone attending that one? ;)

I'm not at Bally's anymore. My roomie wanted to stay at the Boardwalk across from Paris and Ballys.

No rental. A chapter soror said she may rent one to get to the outlets. If she does, I'm in the car. :D LOL

Question about the "Banquet" on Saturday. Are we treating this as a formal?

Choo-ChooAKA 06-11-2003 12:03 PM

Banquet Dress

Well, I called HQ and they said the banquet was relatively dressy, but not necessarily a "formal" occasion. The response was kind of like, "However you feel like dressing." She also said to pack a white dress as a precaution.

uhhhhhhh? White?!!?!!?

For what? ;) :o :p A precaution?

Thanks for the info. I'll pass it along.

Choo-ChooAKA 06-11-2003 03:36 PM

White dress???

I dunno, but when I asked her if I would need one for any reason she said to pack it as a precaution (maybe she's just "old school")?

pointNclick 06-11-2003 03:44 PM

I'll be there!

Good afternoon Sorors:

As a newly initiated member (2 months, 19 days, 4 hours, 5 minutes), I will definitely be in Vegas. I am excited about attending my first Leadership Seminar!

I have yet to receive any confirmation of activities, although all my fees have been paid. Any other sorors experience this?

Soror Choo-Choo, thanks so much for letting us know about the white attire. :) I certainly was not planning on bringing it. Now I will, because I certainly do not want to be out of order.

I plan on being at the "other" gathering ;) ... will anyone from GC be there as well? If not, has a GC event been planned?

Did anyone read about anything "special" going on? This is when "special attire" should be worn. I'm not going to wear the white attire JUST because. Tell somebody somethin' :D Packing excra clothing, shoes, accessories is not a good idea, especially if you are flying. LOL

Soror PNC, you may want to make a phone call, too. I received my info whenever I posted. Scroll up or down.

It seems like July 11th is not a good day for SOME sorors. Maybe lunch after one of the sessions, perhaps that "big one"? ;)

pointNclick 06-11-2003 04:15 PM

Re: Re: White dress???

Thanks Soror!

You know I have had to make several calls already, so one more won't hurt!

LOL...

I plan on being at the other gathering as well. The white dress I have I cannot presently fit. Where are some good places to look? I usually see white dresses during spring time. I haven't seen many lately.

pointNclick 06-11-2003 04:19 PM

Re: Re: I'll be there!

I would say the following places (all of which should have on-line stores as well):

1) Sears
2) Hecht's
3) Nordstrom's
4) Avenue
5) JC Penny

A little Vegas advice

Pardon me for butting in on your thread! :o
I'm a Vegas fanatic. Been there many times (and yes, got married there)

You all are going to have fun!
1. flight....try to get a window seat on the right side of the plane...ain't nothing like seeing the strip as you land!

2. Stop by Walgreen's on the strip next to MGM and stock up on bottled water....the tap water SUCKS in Vegas!

3. Wear comfy shoes. There is a long distance between hotels and at 100+ degrees...you might be hating it!
4. If you are staying at Bally's, Paris or Aladdin, try to get on a high floor facing the Bellagio. The dancing fountains are to die for.
5. There is a mall on the strip near Treasure Island called the Fashion Show Mall. It is huge and just put a new Nordstrom there.
6. The Forum Shops at Caesar's are to die for!

If you are there on Sunday, try a champagne brunch buffet.
or The Gospel Brunch at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. (I think they still have it)

7. Try to rent a car. Most hotels do NOT have shuttles going to malls! Vegas is VERY easy to drive around....

And you MUST drive up the strip at night!
8. If you are not renting a car, take the shuttle or limo from the airport. LVL (Las Vegas Limos) charges $4.50 per person (plus tip)

Cheaper than a cab (who will try to shaft ya)

Speaking of tips, have plenty of $1 bills for tipping. 80% of Las Vegas residents are in the service industry.

If ya want info on places where to eat and where NOT to eat, I can tell you that too!

If I am intruding, I apologize.

WenD08 06-11-2003 05:00 PM

Jill1228,

thanks for the tips. i've never been so i appreciate the info. plus, you are not an "intruder":D

Jill1228 06-11-2003 05:04 PM

Thanks :D
Buffets NOT to eat at:
Circus Circus
Excalibur
Holiday Inn Boardwalk

There are many ways to get great rates on hotels. i always check the Vegas message board for deals.

Also when you get there, look for the WHERE Magazine or the local Vegas mags....many 2 for 1 deals!

I am aching for a Vegas trip but I have to wait till October....going for a wedding

Sahara 06-11-2003 05:18 PM

Thanks for the info!

I'm staying at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club at the Flamingo Hilton. It's about a block or two away from Paris.

Wednesday evening sounds best. Why don't we meet in the Paris lounge?

A spa sounds great. I could definitely use one!!

Choo-ChooAKA 06-11-2003 06:41 PM

Wednesday night

Wednesday night would be perfect. Let's do it. I could really use a spa treatment, too. How about 7:00 pm? Is there anything going on that night?

Steeltrap 06-11-2003 06:42 PM

Wednesday night sounds good.

ETA: We're still driving. Hopefully we arrive Wednesday afternoon. How about Thursday outlets?

Kodaka 06-11-2003 09:49 PM

Posting again: any Sorors to see "O" ?

I got my registration confirmation today.
I have changed my mind about the "other" gathering, I'm not going now.
What are the details of the GC gathering?
Also....I'm asking again, are any Sorors planning to see Cirque du Soleil's "O"?

Skeelicious1 06-12-2003 02:18 PM

I didn't plan on seeing "O", I really want to see Gladys again. Are any Sorors going to see her show? The show is all that. What about Celine?

AKA4MJ 06-12-2003 02:37 PM

The count down is on!

Hello Sorors! so many new names, congratulations to all of the new Sorors, and I hope to see you all in Vegas.

The other day I received a letter from the Corp. Office. I was thinking ok, this must be my confirmation, right? Well, NO! It was a letter stating that they could not process my cc. I am like, I know I have the funds on the card, so I quickly called, and asked what the deal was. I was then told that I left off my exp. date. So get this, I had to pay and additional $25! I was like, WTF!

I asked why was not I not called, since we are required to put contact info on the form. I was then told that on the deadline and shortly after, they had several hundred last minute registrations, and that they even had to turn some Sorors away! Needless to stay a call would have been too much!

So along with the inportant information to be discussed and learned, this Leadership Confernce will be packed! Remember Sorors, you paid your money, please attend to the business, and then pleasure while in Vegas. I know I will be handling both {*hoping to remember to pack my no-doze in my suitcase}.

And about the anquet, I inquired, and I was told it will be a formal affair. And for those that have never been to Vegas, the heat is no joke! Be mindful of the business attire taht you plan on wearing to your sessions, I am sure we will be in air-conditioned facilities, but if you go out or coming from the outside, you may become uncomfortable quick.

Please do not forget pertinent meds, you may need them, and as someone mentioned, do bring comfortable walking shoes! You probably will like to venture and see the other hotels. I also suggest getting several Sorors together to rent a car. I checked out travelocity and found a midsize rental for 86.15 from Payless. That's nothing split several ways!

If there is an official GC meeting planned please email me at aka4mj@aol.com

Skee-ya in Vegas!

Soror :D :D

Hi Sorors! I just received a letter from Headquarters, separate from my registration confirmation, regarding this.

If you are registered and are participating in a specific activity during leadership, the corporate office will contact you regarding the attire. ;)

If you're still unsure....I say another call to HQ is worth extra space in the suitcase.

Skee Wee, I'm excited!

AKA4MJ 06-18-2003 10:44 AM

White???

Soror, can you please email me in reguards to what you found out from our Corporate office in reguards to the "white". I also sent you a PM.
