Audioslave-The Rage guys rule. Chris Cornell sucks.

Aw, come on. Chris Cornell has a great voice. Can you see Zach De LaRocha singing the types of song Audioslave does? I think not. Maybe I'm biased because I love Soundgarden.

cuaphi 03-17-2003 12:09 PM

What I'm getting sick of is ALL the folks out there claiming to be 'punk' while dressed in their little Hot Topic clothes, singing radio friendly drivel, going on TRL, kissing Carson Daly @SS. This includes:

Avril Lavigne (earns special hatred for claiming she wrote her songs)
Blink 182
Sum 41
Good Charlotte (makeup doesn't hide the fact that you're lame)

the list goes on and on....

DeltaSigStan 03-17-2003 12:16 PM

Ok, not exactly music, but, CARSON FRICKIN DALY.

What has this guy done to get the PR that he has? He has NO personality and ZERO interview skills One night I was bored and watched Last Call, OMG his interviews are worse than Leno!

one of the DJs on the local alternative rock station played "Life Styles of the Rich and Famous" the other day and afterwards said "Real punks don't whine b*tch." It was histerical.

LaDolceVita03 03-18-2003 01:08 AM

Anyone related in any way to Murder Inc/Ja Rule/Irv Gotti
Avril
J. Lo
Norah Jones
Alicia Keys (where is she now?)
and I hate to say this last one--Jay Z--I liked him so much better on his first few CDs

Biggest no name talent since, I don't know.

ZTAngel 08-13-2003 11:14 AM

J Lo- She gets on my last nerve.

Ja Rule- He knows that he can't carry a song on his own which is why he has Ashanti do back up in all of them.

Ashanti- She's really not that great of a singer.

Christina Aguilera- She has a great voice but she oversings EVERY song. The girl won't have a larynx by the time she's 30.

Mariah Carey- Why does she sound out of breath in every song? It's not sexy...it's annoying.

Britney- 'nuff said!

I bought the Britney dvd yesterday, not the one of her movie, it was a compilation video. Very nice!

Kelly Osbourne
Justin Timberlake--sounds like someone kicked him in the balls.
Hootie and the Blowfish
DJ Skribble
Ja Rule
Jay-Z

She is not punk. She is a little girl who wears ties and black eyeliner. Before her record deal, she didn't even LISTEN to punk music. I read in the new Vogue that she doesn't even know who Guns and Roses is... (not that they are punk, but it's still fairly appalling).

I will be glad when she goes away. She kinda sucks.

I might be in the minority here, but sometimes I feel like DMB is a little overrated too. They are good, I like many of their songs... but some people are obsessed and I am not feeling it.

If one more studio/channel/production company chooses to use "Complicated" by Avril ONE MORE FUKKING TIME, I'M GONNA SCREAM!! Lord, does it actually explain the angst in the storyline of EVERY movie coming out!?!?!?

Lord, they even used it to advertise the As Told By Ginger movie on Nickelodeon!! ARGH!!!

Ditto to this one. She isn't THAT great of a singer. Sure as hell isn't that great of an actress.

Ashanti- She's really not that great of a singer.
What? You mean listening to her sing, "Aww baby" 500,000,000 times isn't fun for you??? :p

Christina Aguilera- She has a great voice but she oversings EVERY song. The girl won't have a larynx by the time she's 30.

Mariah Carey- Why does she sound out of breath in every song?

Probably because she always used to oversing every song and doesn't have a larynx anymore. ;)

The most annoying one: my chapter used the tune of "I love Rock and Roll" for our Open House song at recruitment this year... a lot of my sisters didn't know that Britney DIDN'T write that song! I had to explain that it was Joan Jett. They were in complete shock. I love my sisters, but their love for crappy pop music is just a downer...

yeah one of my roomates/ sisters didn't know the Rolling Stones originally did satisfaction:eek:

I must defend my Hootie!

SDTSarah 08-14-2003 11:54 PM

I must second (and third...and fourth...) a lot of what's been said...

DMB...I think they have talent, but they're WAY overrated
Audioslave
Avril
Justin Timberlake
J. Lo AND Ben
Uncle Kracker...ugh

smiley21 08-15-2003 12:29 AM

good charlotte, and everyone else in the supposed rebirth of punk. it is nothing but CRAP!

50 cent, chingy, ja rule, and all of rap music in the last 5 years. i wish i could make money for looking and speaking like crap.

i was just telling my boyfriend tonight how i am tired of music right now. its not like it was 5 years ago when there was this one really awesome singer that set the standard for music. everyone is getting their fifteen min. of fame and it is all crap.

pink (aka 'i'm a bad ass') i cant believe that i have her cds. what was i thinking?

Now that is just sad....
Satisfaction is one of the all time best songs, and sounds just as good today as it did when it was brand new (and yes, I do remember that!!)

Sverige 08-15-2003 01:28 PM

What about bone crusher? He'll be a one hit wonder.

sailorchicDG 08-15-2003 01:40 PM

I only skimmed through but I don't think anyone mentioned Jewel.
I used to love her before she totally SOLD OUT to become some fake pop princess. I mean come on, that song "Intuition" isn't even good! At least her older songs were good.

YES! "Intuition" is SO trite and boring...I used to love her, too, but I don't know WHAT she's thinking.

SigmaChiGuy 08-15-2003 03:26 PM

SugarRay. He was/is good for MTV SpringBreak - IMO

browncat 08-15-2003 03:35 PM

Eminem

I am not the biggest fan of Eminem, but I love Funkmaster Flex. This Sat. @ 7:30Emeinem is going to be on the Ride w/ Funkmaster Flex show on Spike TV. This is going to be rad. I love Funkmaster, and even though I think Eminem is a littl eoverrated, I would love to see what kind of cars he has. This show is like MTV cribs fopr cars. I am pumped.

MeLikey 08-16-2003 01:55 AM

The Donnas-- their theme song for Surf Girls always got on my nerves.

Thalia-- she's starting out like Ashanti, but her voice is weaker than Ashanti's.

JLo-- I hate her new song... yet I like when she collaborates with rappers... still can't sing though.

I totally agree! I used to be a huge Jewel fan, until I saw her on VH1 Divas Live. I mean, WHAT was with the hoochie dress all of a sudden?? Then I heard "Intuition," saw the video... forget it. I just saw the cover of her new CD today for the first time, and it was so generic pop princess that it made me gag.

She has a great voice for the folkier stuff. It just sounds dumb when she attempts to be poppy.

DZHBrown 08-17-2003 01:35 AM

Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez

Glitter650 08-17-2003 02:49 AM

I have to disagree with all of you who say Christina is overrated... I'll admit that she may not deserve EVERY single little award and recognition she has...and personally l like to wear a few more clothes than she does... but in my opinion I really think that woman has a GREAT voice

Avril definitely needs to take a long walk off a short pier... SUCH a poser... I really can't think of anyone else right now besides that prep turned "punk"

i like christina. believe it or not, she has taught me a lot. i like her for who she is even though i think that black hair makes her look so terrible.

APhiRattlerGal 08-18-2003 12:34 AM

Shania Twain (i sooooooo dont like her music)

Limp Bizkit

Britney Spears

JLO

DMB

I didn't catch the show but I've heard about it. It looks sweet. I was just on the spike tv website and found some cool stuff about "Ride." They have video clips from the show, Flex is pretty funny.
http://www.spiketv.com/shows/funkmaster/

browncat 08-21-2003 11:33 AM

Hell yeah it is sweet.

I watched it last week, and I cannot wait to watch it again! I am gonna love seeing the NElly episode. NELLY be tha bizzzomb, yo. No, really though, it will be cool to catch Ludacris on there this week. He has some pretty dope rides. I think they are gonna steal his car and trick it out or something, I am not sure. It sounds like a mix of punk'd and cribs.... AAAWWWW Sh-t!!!!!

browncat 08-21-2003 11:36 AM

OH YEAH...... ALSO......

Have you been catchin' slamballl? There is another thread about this... we should prob'ly head that way, but we have been watchin' that every week also and basically it has been an excuse to party! lot's o' fun. Shout out to bafromkc!

bafromkc 08-21-2003 02:16 PM

whats up b-cat, I am going to definitely try to catch Ride this weekend. Ludacris is gonna be on? That sounds like it will be good, I Ludacris is a pretty rapper too. I love punk'd so if Ride is anything like that I know I'll like it.

MeLikey 08-22-2003 01:23 AM

Ludacris's Souther Hospitality is one of my favorite songs...

I have to add another over-rated one-- Dream. Holly is the only one you can hear pretty much the whole time, so you don't even need the other girls, and even then Holly isn't the greatest singer.

bafromkc 08-22-2003 12:03 PM

I agree Dream is awful. That one with the red hair who is always singing, Holly I guess her name is, is not even hot and she is the only one they show. didn't p diddy put this group together or something? how ridiculous is that?

I hope Ludacris shows us some southern hospitality on Flex's show.

Optimist Prime 08-23-2003 04:03 PM

Frank Sinatra. I don't live in a elevator or drink martini's in vegas all day playing slot machines, so why would I listen to him?
