2 Years JV Soccer
2 Years Varsity Soccer 1 Year Crew - It was an all year committment so I gave it up for soccer. 3 Years Varsity Bowling - But I will be the first to admit, it is not a sport. |
9 years cheering
-8th grade and freshman cheerleader -3 in high school (all varsity, I quit my senior year b/c I didn't have to try out & wanted to try something new, but I got to be a groovy All-American for 2 of those years!) -4 in college (captain junior & senior years) 1 year dance team in high school -UDA All-American - My squad was Ohio's state champs that year! :D 3 years of track in high school -We made it to the level below state....we just couldn't compete with those girls from Cleveland & Columbus! And I agree with the "cheering camp stinks" sentiments. I hated having to scream everytime the counselors waved around the Spirit Stick. :p |
Is cheerleading still a sport if you are on a non-stunting squad?

Yeah Dance Team!!!
I was a cheerleader all through elementary and middle school (in my middle school you had to try out)and in high school I was on the dance team and lettered in it. I cheered one year in college and was on the dance team one year. I liked dancing MUCH better.Dancing is just so much fun!!!!My sorority participates in another greek orgs. "Tiger Toss" fundraiser and I cheer on our team. Our uniforms are soooooo cute! They are our sorority colors with our letters in big block letters on them.!!!!I love it!We usually win. One year we placed second, but it was after a big bout of flu that nearly wiped out my whole chapter!!!!

Anybody do a sport in college?
|
I was on the tennis team in college
|
it was hard for me to get motivated for cheerleading. due to the ridiculous lengths of the skirt (just past the knee) and the dancing ban at my school. my school sucked:mad:
however, the football team kicked ass |
Cheerleaders are cool. Are way fun to hang out with.

Trinity?
I could be wrong, but they by far have the longest skirt lengths for their cheerleaders, along with one of the best football teams. Am I right? |
I was a dancer for 4 years
I played water polo for 2 years in college (intercollegiate club team, CO-ED) Water polo isn't for the faint of heart or weak of body. |

Cheerleader in HS here :) Captain senior year. I loved it! Did anyone see the show on I think TLC about the woman who just graduated from Harvard that worked to be an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader for a day? It was interesting.
|
I was watching Bring It On...
"Cheerleaders are dancers gone retarded." That cracks me up!:D |
Cheerleader, U. of Arkansas! Cheer camp instructor, Mississippi, Georgia, and Hawaii; coach at 3 colleges; judge in 5 states.
Mom to varsity cheerleader, Valdosta State U.--and to 4 high school cheerleaders! |
Cheerleader 2 1/2 years of high school (just did basketball season my sophomore year and not football), 2 varisty letters, and captain my senior year. I miss it so much, but unfortunately I do not have tumbling skills so could never try out for OSU's squad. Would love to go back and coach my high school squad sometime...damn those girls need some guidance!
|
Played Rugby - Played Flyhalf or Strong Wings, depending on whether or not our winger are being a cry baby and don;t want to messed up their jersey.
Footlball (soccer) - Goalkeeper or Defensive Center. |
My high school will be on ESPN tomorrow (March 22nd) at 7:30pm. Don't miss it!! :D
|
I played Powder Puff football for three years...does that count?
(Nothing to do with hazing! This was actual, school-sanctioned Powder Puff, where freshmen/seniors played sophomores/juniors. We had practices after school and teachers coaching us. We played our game during homecoming week.) |
I cheered 3 years in HS and then was on dance team my senior year. I also played softball. I wanted to try out for basketball but cheering is really time consuming and I also did ballet so I had zero time for anything else in the fall. In college I was on the WVU dance team last year.

Did gymnastics for 4 years.
I was a cheerleader in 8th and 9th grade for my junior high. Captain of the JV squad in 10th grade. Was the replacement member for the varsity squad if anything happened to one of them before antionals. Got a camp all star bid. Was on the Varsity squad 11th and 12th. Was Captain 12th grade and won All American at camp and the squad won a whole bunch of awards at camp. One of them was for the (I forget what it's called) most spirited squad at camp which everyone wants or else they wouldn't go around camp doing cheers and all that jazz. We had guys and they would always "flirt" with the girls and they all loved it. They would hand out the trays for everyone and one girl from another squad hurt her ankle, so one of our guys carried her. It was my fave time. Was the Captain of the first all girl stunt group for my school and made it to nationals. Went to Nationals 11th and 12th and won 2nd place in Co-Ed Performance Cheer. Helped Coach my HS squad for a year after graduating. Was on my college squad for only the summer, cause they really sucked ass and as much as I wanted to cheer, I couldn't waste that much time on thier suckyness. (They were stuck up and even though I had the most experience and was IMHO the best one on the squad, they wouldn't let me do anything.) I tried to help coach, but the coach at the time was stuck up also and never emailed me back. I've been looking for a college all-star squad but the closest one is an nour and 15 mins away. NO way I'm doing that commute. Might help coach a high school or something around here. |
i was on the baseball team and basketball team in 9th grade...i got kicked off both of them for smoking weed.
i transfered schools in 11th grade, and there was a surf team. the school never recognized us, and funded us though, so we were considered a "club" even though surfing was a recognized CIF sports. so I was on the surf team/club 11th and 12th grade, but never got any letters or anything. |

Cheered from 5th grade to 12th grade. Didnt play in college cause I hurt my knee and had surgery. I had a scholarship for it, but had to turn it down because of the knee surgery. I played powderpuff football for 3 years in HS. I also coached cheering and I helped with cheering tryouts whenever I am back home and they call me about it. I also took gymnastics from when I was 3 till 18.
I wish I had cheered in college. I miss it now. It kept me in shape..... |
I was a cheerleader too! I started when I was 10, doing Pop Warner cheer, cheered through junior high and high school. I wish we would have had the All-Star cheer gyms in my area when I was in HS!! I could have at least tried to make college cheer with extra training. Oh well.
I would LOVE to help coach a cheer squad, but they usually start practicing after school, and I don't leave work until 5pm. :( |
