Yeah the song is kinda catchy...but I can't help but think of all the little 11-year old girls shaking their little bon bons as he says "let me see your sexy body go bump bump bump!"

There ought to be an age limit in the music industry on what they can say...but I guess that would be undue censorship:confused:

Speaking of songs, has anyone heard the new Jagged Edge remake of Color Me Badd's "I wanna sex you up"? I was just curious how it sounded?

RedefinedDiva 12-15-2002 02:21 PM

Y'all already know that I bought Nas' new CD, "God's Son" FIRST THING Friday morning, so I won't even bother telling y'all! :p

AKA2D '91 12-27-2002 04:27 PM

Does anyone know who sings the song talking about an "emotional rollercoaster?"

I saw her briefly on Wayne Brady's show. I didn't catch her name.

Her name is Vivian Greeen. I also like the song and finally was able to see Ms. Green. She has a very mature voice to be 23.

I don't know if this has already been addressed but if anyone can tell me when did Dru Hill get five members? I don't have cable anymore (to broke) so I am so out of the loop!

Ever since they came back out they have this new 5th memer, Scola. According to the other members, he's someone that has always been down with them and they just decided that the group would sound better with him. I think the group sounds the same as it always has except now they have to cut the check 5 ways instead of 4.

I thought that Nokia, Nokia or whatever it is or Woody was 'posed to be doing the gospel thing. What happened? Was he another artist that decided they were not going to "play with God" and remain secular?

Music Thread

Greetings Sorors,

I enjoy real soul music, music that speaks to me intellectually and sprirtually. Not the overly commercialized pieces of soul culture.

Some of my favorite musical artists are as follows:

DONNIE www.donniesoul.com he is from Atlanta and has a new CD called The Colored Section. He has a wonderful voice and even has a song that praises natural hair (Cloud 9)

Common- the new CD Electric Circus, whenever a black male rapper can give a social commentary on homophobia, he must get props

N'Dambi- She used to be E. Badu's background singer (i.e. You Don't Have to Cry on the Live CD) she is awesome in her double cd Tunin Up and Cosigin.

Lewis Taylor- From the UK, Don't sleep he has three CDs that are a straight throwback to the Marvin Gaye era of music...simply awesome

Dead Prex- the album "Let's Get Free" nuff said

How is it that Norf Cackalacky has MediaPlay and the nation's capital doesn't? It's not fair. :(

Anyway, I came to talk about that new Angie Martinez song with Kelis. Has anyone seen this video? What is up with Kelis and the gold fronts??? At first, I was like, oh, the lipstick is original. But then I saw the fronts. And I've never seen her hair str8, either. She looked different. But the gold fronts? Bad move, bad move.

My favorite song on the cd is "Now You're Gone", the bonus track, but I don't bother pressing the fast forward button.

No, I don't think it is a remake. I don't have the album liner so I am not sure though.

Y'all, I went to a $12 concert Friday night. THA BOMB!!!! I saw Donnie and Fertile Ground. Now, I've already told y'all that Donnie is tight. But y'all, Fertile Ground tore it up!!!!! THA BOMB!! I bought their newest CD at the concert and will be purchasing the other two tomorrow. You know how you listen to something and it's just cool? But then you hear the group live and it's just off the chains? That's Fertile Ground. I think I might be a groupie, lol. The concert was just lovely. Good music, good people, good energy, good vibes. Cool, happy, (lots of nappy) Black folks. If they come to a city near you, GO SEE THEM!!!!!!!

1savvydiva 03-03-2003 04:30 AM

I know someone said it before but I'm feeling Killer Mike's "A.D.I.D.A.S". Now that I have seen the video I also like the little dance they do. :p

Oh, and a question for all my southern sisterfriends: What is a/the k-wang? I kept hearing a song talking about "k-wang wit it, k-wang wit it?" WTH:confused:

omg, that is Khia, lol. Please don't tell me that song is gonna get popular now! It has been out in FL for lik 2 years. It is actually a dance, the k wang. If you want to try to picture it, think of the dance Mr. Cheeks does in all of his videos. Then put it to Khia's beat. She kinda describes how to do it in the song, but it is like the easiest dance ever.

Ideal08 was right about that Fertile Ground y'all. I heard some of the songs, and they are good.

Songs I am feeling right now...

Busta Rhymes and Mariah - I Know What You Want
Fat Joe and Tony Sunshine - All I Need
The Roots WHOLE CD
Common's WHOLE CD

Also, there is a new chick named Ms. Dynamite...I like her style. Her new song is called Dy-na-mi-tee, and I have some others too, but that is probably the catchiest.

I like that Busta song also. I was watching ET on MTV and they were showing clips of them while the video was being made.

I also like Ms. Dynamite. I saw the video and it's also good. I believe she's from England.

I am soooooooooo feeling Nas' "I Can." It reminds me of the rap from the 80s. HOPEFULLY, others will take heed and send some positive messages to our youth and ADULTS... (some of us are as triflin' as the youngsters)

Edit: Beyonce's CD finally drops May 20th.
What happened to Kelly's? Michelle's? LOL

I just heard this song and saw the video the other day, and it's a great message for everybody, and to not let anybody stand in the way of your dream.
