It's reasonably close to Grand Rapids, Michigan in the Western part of the state, as I recall.

We have a nephew who was on their football team a few years ago. He was only there a year and decided he would rather be in the work force than in college.

I think he caught one pass during his college career.

Kentucky is possibly wanting VSU head coach Chris Hatcher as offensive cordinator. That is funny, because Hal Mumme was head coach of VSU before he went to coach Kentucky. He took Chris along with him and made him QB coach there. After Mumme left Kentucky because of NCAA violations Chris came back to VSU as head coach. When he came to VSU he took 2 time Harlon Hill winner Dusty Bonner with him from Kentucky. I am suprized they might want him back. I know some of the football players said that an SEC team is also looking at Chris as a possible head coach. Chris is only 29 so that would be quite a feat. Chris has only lost 3 games in his 3 year career at VSU.

Oh yah here is a link talking about how Kentucky might want Chris..

wait a minute!!

This is exciting. . .

I didn't know that VSU had a good team. When I was there, they weren't too bad but they weren't good either. I remember going to the games and sitting there with my friends who were in sororities.

And then, we'd stop at the fraternity houses on Greek Row for *celebrations*. . .

GO BLAZERS!!!!

justamom 12-13-2002 10:40 AM

Carnation-YEAAAAA!!!! We can't wait for the game! And to see cutesie-wutesie little BlazerCheer cheering on national TV!!!!! I hope she doesn't read that.

PLEASE, PLEASE remind me so I can see her!!!
I just KNOW I'll forget...:(

The1calledTKE 12-14-2002 12:39 AM

I found out the SEC team that is looking at VSU head coach Chris Hatcher as the possible head coach. Alabama. Apperently they like what he has done with VSU and think he will be patient enough to wait out the suspention. I heard Jim Donovan was another option. Dawg fans would hate him...lol

carnation 12-14-2002 12:52 AM

The football team has been in Florence since Tuesday and I got a call from the van of cheerleaders en route about an hour ago. They're trying to figure out what to do in Florence after the cheerleaders' official breakfast tomorrow.

LOL!!! What DOES one do in Florence?

AlphaGam1019 12-14-2002 04:01 PM

Yeah! heads up!! the game is on ESPN @ 4pm...Blazercheer will be on!! she's the cute asian one! :)

IowaHawkeye 12-14-2002 08:48 PM

Looks like Valdosta State lost 31-24. Let Thrillhouse's comments begin ;)

The1calledTKE 12-14-2002 08:56 PM

What a game! Grand Valley was suppose to do better than that. They only had the two best players in divison two football on their team. Those were the 2 that won it. Valdosta did alot better than I thought they would, they kept it close. Now that Grand Valley loses their best players after this season VSU will win it next year! They will dowhat Grand Valley did, win it on the second try. Good game Thrillhouse, your boys pulled it off. Second in the Nation isn't all that bad.

Sorry to hear about your loss Valdosta guys. Carnation, there is not much to do or see in Florence. I went to school at Univ. of North Ala. where the stadium is. Actually, the stadium is not on campus but is adjacent to it. I lived around the corner from there.
There is a neat obsevation tower with a nice resteraunt in it in town. There is also Ivy Green in nearby Tuscumbia. This is the house where Helen Keller grew up. Also, in downtown (on Court St.) Florence there is a great Italian restaurant called Ricatoni's. That's about all to Florence, other than that people drive an hour and a half to go to the metropolis of Huntsville!

carnation 12-14-2002 10:07 PM

I just now got home from work--had to run over there during the 4th quarter--and saw that Valdosta lost. Well, crud! But what I saw of the game was great and I'm so proud of those guys for having such a great season!

I did not, however, see BlazerCheer once! We saw the cheerleaders 3 times and we saw the black girls, the white ones, Ballerina's Hispanic XO sister, but no little Asian girl!

AGDLynn 12-14-2002 10:48 PM

Western Kentucky won!

Yea!! Although I'm from Ga., I was pulling for them, but would have been happy if GSU had one too...

The1calledTKE 12-15-2002 12:59 AM

I saw Blazercheer several times. :p This was suppose to be VSU's rebuilding year. Their ranking in the begining of the year reflected that others believed that as well. If this was our rebuilding year I would like to see us at full strength. People were giving us no respect even to the end. I saw in one paper they predicted Grand Valley to beat us by 20. After the first half and the way they played I began to think it might come true but VSU came back to tie it but blew it and the last few mins. What really hurt us was losing Tobias in the begining of the game, he was suppose to be the main person to cover Kirkus.

carnation 12-04-2004 10:09 PM

YEAH!!! Once more, Valdosta State will be playing in Florence for the national championship!:) BlazerCheer is *supposed* to cheer but they're leaving Thursday and she has 3 finals that day.

Go Blazers!!!!!

I had no clue they were still in it. I thought the lost in the playoffs.

Go VSU. Is it on espn 2 again?

carnation 12-05-2004 12:17 AM

I don't know! I didn't see the game, BC called me afterwards.

The1calledTKE 12-05-2004 12:45 AM

Little ole Valdosta State even made ESPN...

The1calledTKE 12-05-2004 12:48 AM

What is even more funny is Tom's alma mater is the team my alma mater will face in the championship. Mr. Earp, the Gorillas are going down.

Thrillhouse 12-05-2004 12:56 AM

Congrats to Valdosta. They are lucky to have a qb as good as Fabian Walker.

The1calledTKE 12-05-2004 12:59 AM

Ok I just found out the Valdosta State /Pittsburg State National Championship game is on at 4pm on ESPN on Saturday the 11th.

A good article about the subject...

YESSS! Go Blazers! We can't wait to see the game at 4! Dang, I hope it's not raining in Alabama too.

BlazerCheer will be cheering half the game, switching uniforms with another girl. There was a "wardrobe malfunction". Anyway, if you see an Asian girl with a big grin on the VSU sidelines--cheering or not--it's probably her!

carnation 12-11-2004 08:25 PM

WOOWOOWOOOOOOO!!

VALDOSTA STATE IS THE NATIONAL DIVISION 2 CHAMP!!!!!!

The1calledTKE 12-11-2004 09:16 PM

It was a good game. Great to see them win the national championship on ESPN. Go Blazers! Told you Tom the Gorillas were going to go down!

AGDLynn 12-11-2004 10:45 PM

yea!!!

Even though they always beat WGa in football, I'm proud of them. Now each school has national championship teams! :)

The1calledTKE 12-11-2004 11:20 PM
