I, too, thought it was a mutual decision. Sorry to hear that it wasn't.

Yep, I had no say in it, just woke up one day with a much smaller PM box (mods get a LOT more PM space) and a PM from John saying I was no longer a mod. No explanation, nothing. Same with Geekypenguin and AXO Alum. PMs to John requesting further information went unanswered, despite his mass PM to the three of us saying he would get back to us very soon. That was months ago. No PM from John.

So, you see, that's the kind of thing you're dealing with here. Generally, he could care less what the members actually want. He wanted to add avatars to the site, everyone in the mod's corner was vehemently against it, but yet he's probably still going to do it eventually- at least he said he was. Yes it is his site, but that doesn't mean that we have to agree with everything he does. I got tired of the "its John's site he can do what he wants" line a long time ago. I gave him hours of my time, for free, but got no thanks and my opinions didn't matter.

Sorry for the rant, but I didn't know that people thought I stepped down voluntarily. Certainly want to clear the air on that one!

Dani,

Like others, I thought you stepped down voluntarily. You've done a great job here, and it irritates me that you were removed from the position. Thank you for all the work you put in; especially considering that, given the frustrations mod-hood caused you, you invested your time and effort just for the good of KD. That's truly sisterhood at its best.

KDAngel 09-18-2007 05:24 PM

Where did my post go here!? I didn't say a SINGLE mean thing whatsoever!!! I just said I supported everyone. What in the world? :(

I agree that Dani has done a good job in the past as the KD moderator with our forum. I do think it's important that we do have a moderator back again. I would love to see Annie do it, but I think she's got her hands full. I have some recommendations that I would love to see go to John as well. I think that KathyKD would be good, and even Leslie Anne!

Any takers?

I would love to do it, and I sent John an email about it, but I received no reply. Thank you for nominating me!!! I spend a lot of time on the computer anyway because I'm a teacher, I am webmaster for my area's AA, and because I run several other websites for alumnae of my chapter. I would also co-sign on anyone who would like to do it!!! :)

I hate to start beating this dead horse again, but I'm going to.

Someone in a thread in a whole 'nother forum suggested to someone relatively new to sorority life to PM the mod of their sorority's forum in order to find out who at HQ to contact regarding a specific problem.

I thought that was a great suggestion.

Too bad it won't help if the person who received the suggestion is a KD.

John... please... would you identify a mod for our forum? We have gone unmodded for long enough.

Yeah, I think I later realized I posted elsewhere... :D

And how does this get bumped when all's quiet on the KD front. I mean there's very little talking in the forum for a LONG WHILE now... I don't get it. Then again, I've never thought we needed another mod. But I'll support KD getting one since that appears to be what everyone wants. Just don't get why. Still.

True... I guess I picked a completely random time to bump this thread. But, the way I see it, there's no benefit in waiting until there's a problem to get a mod. By that point, it's almost too late. Best to snuff out the problems as soon as they arise. Granted, there haven't been any recently (to my knowledge), but that doesn't mean there never will be.

We don't need another mod. We need A mod. We don't have anyone at all. And not at our request, either.

Perhaps I'm just upset about why we don't have a mod anymore and I'm just using our mod-less status as a vehicle for venting. I apologize if I'm stirring the pot; especially if I'm the only one who feels like we need a mod.

kathykd2005 04-02-2008 06:42 PM

I don't see it as stirring the pot, at all. I don't think it's unreasonable to be asking for another moderator, particularly since we are one of the only Panhellenic sororities on here that doesn't have one. It's been quite a long time since Dani was the moderator for this board, and we've been asking for one for almost a year now. All of our requests have gone unanswered, and that is simply a bit unreasonable, imho.

KDAngel 04-03-2008 01:25 PM

I bet you we don't have one b/c John knows how fabulous KD's are and doesn't expect any problems with us. ;)

I mean that's a good excuse if we're not going to be answered anyway. :D

I would just be happy if we were gratified with an answer at all.

Sorry to jump in on this but I find this whole thread interesting:
Yes, would be nice to have a mod for those just in case moments that could go on too long if one has to reach out, by way of PM, to a Super-Mod.
SAE has had a few postings in it that our Mod dropped-kicked with great speed. Could be of some help that the Brother is a Super-Mod.

That said, why post here asking John for a PM??? I do not have any reason to believe or think that John would or does read every thread in GC.
PM'ing to him directly would make sure that he does at least see it. And just asking for one does not help him, some one has to PM and ask to be one. I have have not seen that on this thread.

And as for finding out information at or about a National HO/HQ; why would a mod get involved in that? If a person is going on-line to a BB could they not as well find the National's web site and either e-mail or call directly??

kathykd2005 04-05-2008 09:25 PM

Jon:

We have pm'ed him, and NONE of us have received a reply. That is one of the issues we are discussing here, since several of us have attempted to "reach out" to him and ask about getting a moderator personally.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how we can get a mod? It's been well over a year at this point, and I've pm'd John several times. (And I know I'm not the only one.)

ETA: I know this seems like a random bump, but it isn't. I reported a couple posts in this forum (thanks to whomever took care of those, btw), and because of that, our continued lack of a mod became obvious.

AlphaFrog 11-10-2008 06:18 PM

Dang...no matter how long I go away (not on purpose - life has been getting in my way), some things never change. Sad.
