CSU Long Beach had an Alpha Delta Chi chapter when I was a student 40 years ago, but it's now inactive.

One of my neighbors is an alumna of the UCLA chapter which closed recently. :(

Their house is practically across from our chapter house. The ADX house is a very small, wooden frame house. It's very cute looking. It's probably one of the original houses built on 4th Street NW. Most houses on the street are now Huge in size.

While these are chapters local to several SUNYs, Sigma Gamma Phi (Arethusa) has sadly closed their chapters at SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Geneseo. Geneseo's chapter had been active since 1892. There are now only 2 active chapters left of this sorority.

Cookiez17 09-08-2024 04:09 PM

So Arkansas Alpha Phi had their bid day today! I'll be lurking their page to see how many they got for their charter class!

Oh, this is sad to hear. This local/regional sorority that has persisted longer than many national sororities have existed.

The entire setup for each night was incredible! They definitely invested in the colonization but I'm sure it paid off. My favorite part was the Panhellenic members helping to bring home the women on Bid Day and celebrating with them. That's true partnership!

So as everyone knows, St John's-Staten Island closed. However, the 2 IFC chapters Alpha Phi Delta and Kappa Sigma were moved to St John's-Queens campus. I do wonder what happened with the Theta Phi Alpha members if they transferred to main campus.

Theta Phi Alpha had chapters at both the Queens and Staten Island campuses. I am guessing that the active members of the SI chapter were allowed to affiliate with the Queens chapter.

Sigma Sigma Sigma had a chapter on the Staten Island campus, but not the Queens campus. I was hoping that the chapter would move to the Queens campus, but, so far, it does not look like that happened.

Kappa Sigma has been closed at Virginia Commonwealth University. Closure is due to RMF and hazing allegations.

LaneSig 09-19-2024 08:50 AM

It looks as though Ceres International Sorority, an agricultural-based organization, has disbanded. The organization was down to two active chapters, University of Wisconsin-Plattville and South Dakota State University.

In an article about the SDSU chapter closing, it says that the international organization had also closed. There is no longer an active website or FB page for Ceres International.

Awww. It definitely filled a niche. I wonder how Sigma Alpha, the other ag sorority, is doing? I know there are chapters in this state.

Cookiez17 09-21-2024 12:40 AM

Alpha Phi's re-establishment at University of Rhode Island will be in 2025 via the URI Greek life page. Sigma Phi Epsilon will also be returning in 2025.

Cookiez17 09-21-2024 06:04 PM

From Alpha Phi IHQ's Facebook, about 200 members were welcomed at the University of Arkansas! Big congrats to the new chapter!!

I hope this is for the Macon campus as that would be very special for Phi Mu and ADPi.
ZTA had a chapter at Wesleyan also.

Alpha Xi Delta will close their chapter at the end of the academic year at Oklahoma State due to low numbers.

Always sad to hear a chapter closing. I heard that members were triple and sometimes quadruple recruiting during recruitment.

Man that’s tough. I had seen their recruitment #’s go down over the years in the recruitment threads. Hopefully they can come back on soon.

Haven't they been open for awhile? It's a commuter school.

They originally opened last year. Apparently, they withdrew the extension and then re-opened.

Carnation has a good memory! Middle Georgia is listed as Open For Extension on multiple GC irishpipes NPC Chapter & Campus lists, going back at least nine years.

Alpha Sigma Alpha at Austin Peay has closed due to low membership numbers.

The Zeta Psi chapter at Binghamton University(NY) has been suspended until 2028. Suspension is due to violations of national organization
policies.

ADPi is closing their chapter at the University of Manitoba due to low membership.

FSUZeta 10-04-2024 02:19 PM

ZTA has reestablished at University of Tampa, welcoming approximately 126 new members to the colony. After colonization requirements are completed, they will be Gamma Sigma chapter. Info from our national FB page and my estimation from head count.

Cookiez17 10-04-2024 06:46 PM

Zeta Tau Alpha will be returning to Monmouth University in spring 2025!!

Lambda Theta Alpha
Lambda Alpha Upsilon
Lambda Chi Alpha (reestablishment)

Theta Phi Alpha is closing their chapter at Benedictine University due to low membership.

Benzgirl 10-10-2024 05:37 PM

I'm not sure when Alpha Sigma Alpha at Muskingum College (Ohio) closed; don't have the date but Wikipedia shows 2023 FWIW.

Oh that's a shame. :( They were the only sorority on campus and they seemed like such a good match for the campus, too. The chapter was chartered in December 2019, right before covid, so maybe they never quite got a chance to get a solid footing? The press release indicates that TPA is hoping to re-establish there in the future when conditions are better.

That is good nationals is considering coming back soon. I was so happy about the colonizations since the chapter was on a "new to greek life" campus.

Our Cal-Fullerton colony has 35 associates. Welcome back!

bbygrl01 10-15-2024 02:19 AM

LaneSig, how are you able to find which campuses are open to expansion? Do they usually announce on their websites or should I just follow every single university's FSL instagram pages?

Also, Sigma Iota Sigma is chartering a new chapter in Rockland County

LaneSig 10-15-2024 08:20 AM

Two new campuses have opened up for expansion:

Iona University(NY)- previously opened

Shenandoah University(VA)- new FSL system (?); I found a chapter of Phi Kappa Sigma existed briefly from 1997-1999. I cannot find any existence of an NPC or NPHC group having been on campus

Oh dang Iona is doing IFC expansion too? I’m really excited to see where it goes.

I guess after the fiasco with wanting to make the locals go national, the figured just add on chapters and leave the locals alone. Montclair state has a similar set up.
