This is ridiculous! I hope that stupid psycho gets caught soon! I agree with the others in how there will probably be other copy cats pretty soon! I know that sounds bad, but there are some sick people out there.

My prayers go out to everyone that lives in the area that all this is going on in. What a horrible feeling..... being scared to leave your house in fear of being shot!!!!

The latest victim worked for the F.B.I. and was loading things into the back of her car with her husband. What a weird coincidence that the lady worked for the F.B.I., but i dont think that was his/her purpose.

Okay, maybe they were talking about schools and universities.

Rubbersoul, you have to do what you have to do. We can't be expected to stop our lives because some maniac (or maniacs) are out there. Just be extremely careful and alert.

justamom 10-17-2002 07:20 AM

I listen to the news everyday. Some very interesting theories out there. I don't know what's in the minds of people these days. I do think this could be something more ominous than the police are indicating. Mark Fuhrman has been giving a lot of interviews, and though you may not like the man, his thinking and reasoning is pretty thorough and logical. We are living in dangerous times. I don't see our lives ever being the same since 9-11 stripped us of our cloak of naivety. We have fallen victim to the very freedoms we fought for. Add the jurisdiction "turf" wars, lax government controls, non existent boarder control and all the SOCIAL domestic issues you have an open invitation to chaos. In a way, we are again paying the price for our freedom, but now, the "war" is being fought on our own soil and EVERY citizen has been called to duty.

To those of you who live in the area, may God bless and protect you and yours.

Dionysus 10-17-2002 09:59 AM

Sooner or later there will be copy-cats, who will try to out do him.:mad::(

As we speak-Oklahoma and another place (caught the tail end, but it's NE). Though Oklahoma shootings from overpasses are nothing new, the timing is the concern.

There are shootings going on in Oklahoma? :(

RubberSoul 10-17-2002 10:47 PM

We may have a "copycat" here in Ohio too. Today I saw on the news where a couple of cars driving on I-71 got hit with bullets...........scary........

justamom 10-18-2002 06:34 AM

Texas*Princess-That may be the "news" I heard (RubberSouls) rather than OK. It seems like I'm ALWAYS walking in on the end of reports!!! I still don't know where the one was in the NE.

I hope they throw the book at the guy who gave the bogus information. What a WASTE of time, (CRITICAL TIME) money and manpower.

I was watching the tail end of 60 min (Or a show like that) and they said they NEVER caught the Zodiac killer-he just stopped. They figure he would be about 60 now and perhaps killed himself OR his "killer identity".

This seems like one of the most difficult situations for the police and the citizens...:(

Dionysus 10-18-2002 08:07 AM

The media should reduce the publicity of these crimes, most criminals of this type enjoy the attention. As I said earlier this also put more ideas in peoples' heads.

Thanks for the update JAM!

SSS1365 10-18-2002 01:11 PM

I'm glad no one's been shot since Monday, but I have to admit that the longer he goes without shooting anyone, the more nervous I get because I am expecting it to happen again. It would be nice if he just stopped, but if he did then the police may never find him, and personally I want to see justice served! And I cannot believe that anyone would intentionally give false information!

sororitygirl2 10-18-2002 01:21 PM

I wonder, since it has been four days, if he will turn up in another area of the country?

I was wondering the same thing.. also wondering if he will just stop? As terrible as this is, CNN, reported it would probably be harder to find the guy if he did just randomly decide to stop.

Blaire 10-18-2002 08:56 PM

My mom often says "the wheels of God and justice are slow but sure". If we don't catch him, he'll get his in the end.

Be safe everyone. You're all in my prayers.

Yours in the greek bond,
Blaire

It appears he finally changed his pattern of not shooting on weekends. A 37 year old man was shot in Ashland, VA coming out of a Ponderosa. They think its him.

As one of the reporters said, all the attention, talk, and "patterns" just give him ideas and a challenge.

Where in OK? Just curious. Do you have a story link?

there was another one? :( didn't that last one happen on a friday night also?.. gosh they better catch this guy soon.. he's messing with so many lives here.. :(

I'll delete my post so I don't confuse anyone else.

It's funny, yesterday I spent my time preparing for guests today (Sun) and as I was getting ready to retire I told Hubby how GOOD it felt to NOT listen to the news, worry about "snipers" or Al Queda (sp?). A few moments later he walked in and said-"There's another shooting." :(

angelic1 10-20-2002 12:04 PM

Ashland

last night there was another one and in my town.. a town of only 6,000.. this isnt the suburbs of DC now or anything.. this is cornfields and farms..

we are just a stop off of 95

its pretty scary when nothing like this ever happens in my small town... this is a town where everyone knows everyone knows everyone..

I called my brother last night bc I am away from home at school to check on him and see how he was.. he said that the whole town was on lock down and all the roads were blocked..

they arent sure if its linked yet.. but this is way too random for the area to not have some connection.. :(

texas*princess 10-20-2002 12:18 PM

angelic, you & your family are in my prayers! take care!!!

i think the media is talking too much about this.. talking about the police theories for his patterns... that just made him (or maybe his sniper buddies?!) do something on the weekend. they are giving this guy too much recognition and all their little theories for patterns just hurt the investigation and everything.

This is a really scary time we're living in :( We've got Al Quida running around planning who-knows-what, we've got Saddam the dictator over there planning who-knows-what, we've got north Korea?! (i can't remember if it was North Korea.. but the country name began with "North") building weapons of destruction, and this Sniper running around the East Coast and causing terror for everyone. :(

Optimist Prime 10-20-2002 12:40 PM

Ashland is less than 30 mins. from my house :(

SSS1365 10-21-2002 09:01 AM

I know everyone in the Richmond area must be pretty nervous now that it's happened there. Keep safe and remember that until he's caught, you have to be careful no matter where you are!

Northern VA high school sports had been moved down to the Richmond area to play over the weekend because they thought the kids might be safer there. I think that may be a part of the reason the sniper went down there this time. Is it true that Richmond area schools are closed today? That's what I heard, and if it's true, I'm sorry but I think that's ridiculous! Kids are safer in locked down schools! I don't think any schools up here have closed because of the sniper... I don't know... Anyway, keep safe everyone!

texas*princess 10-22-2002 11:13 AM

 There was a shooting in Silver Spring in Maryland... may or may not be linked :(

breathesgelatin 10-22-2002 11:39 AM

A lot of my school and several of my sisters are from Richmond... This is a very scary time!

texas*princess 10-22-2002 05:11 PM

be careful!

 This person or person is making me so mad & sad!! :( CNN is now saying he/or she or whoever told Police that "your children are not safe anywhere at anytime"... I can't believe this guy.. someone totally needs to stop him

greeklawgirl 10-22-2002 05:36 PM

I'm scared to death just reading the newspaper articles and watching the news--I can't imagine how terrified the local people must be. You're in my thoughts and prayers. I hope this animal is caught soon.

SSS1365 10-22-2002 07:39 PM

Lots of people at my job were really late for work today because of the shooting this morning. Yeah it really sucks living around here right now, for many reasons. The other night I was out with some friends, and we left a bar and were walking back to my car when we heard a loud pop. Everyone is totally on edge these days, so of course everyone out on the street at that time ducked... Turns out it was some stupid guys setting off a firecracker, trying to see how many people they could freak out. Stuff like that is just NOT funny when people are actually worried about getting shot!

phisigQT 10-23-2002 12:11 AM

whoa! my hairs are standing on end! i cannot believe what i heard on CNN about the snipers "message" and "post script"
he has basically alluded to the fact that he can kill anyone one of any gender, racial or ethnic background at anytime or any place. he also sent out a warning in a post script that "your children are not safe anywhere, anytime" this is so distrubing and happening WAY to close to home! :(

ThetaLove 10-23-2002 12:32 AM

My heart goes out to all of the victims and all of the people that continue to be terrorized especially ya'll that live near where the killings occured. I'm praying for ya'll!

Jadey28 10-24-2002 12:11 AM

Looks like this nasty sniper might be caught soon. In case you didn't know, police have a lead on an ex-military person from Washington state. I am praying that when I wake up, the sniper is caught and everyone will be safe to live their lives again.

On a side note, if this crazy person isn't caught by Halloween, the children of Maryland/DC/Virginia (in some areas) are forbidden to go trick or treating! I feel so bad for them because they have no clue what is really going on. But I don't blame the state officials-I wouldn't want my kids (if I had them) to go trick or treating!

Here's a better recap
www.cnn.com

Be safe everyone!

texas*princess 10-24-2002 09:34 AM

so what happened in Washington state? I thought the Washington state guy wasn't the Sniper, but could be linked to him? This is so confusing!

Kevin 10-24-2002 09:38 AM

Someone in another state sniped a kid during the kid's football practice. They say it's not linked to the sniper. All I can say is what a damned sicko. When it comes to those pieces of $h1t there is no such thing as police brutality.

greeklawgirl 10-24-2002 10:29 AM

Last I heard, they arrested two men this morning while they were sleeping in their car at a rest stop. I also heard that the police uncovered a .223(?) rifle that is the same caliber of the weapon used in the shootings. I believe the two suspects once lived in the Tacoma home that the police searched yesterday.

Let's pray the police are on the right track with this one.

lionlove 10-24-2002 10:32 AM

I hope that the man arrested by the police is in fact the sniper and that this issue can be resolved.

Jadey28 10-24-2002 10:58 AM

Alrighty, since I live in Maryland, all the channels are only showing the news, so I think I can answer a few questions. The guy that lived in Washington state is indeed the guy arrested last night at a rest stop in Maryland. The second guy arrested was his stepson, or something like that (he's like 17 or something). Police believe that both men are the sniper(s) in the recent shootings. The suspected snipers have links to New Jersey (where they got the car from) and Alabama (I don't understand this connection though). Anyway, it looks like my prayers were answered! Everyone please continue to be safe though!

texas*princess 10-24-2002 11:22 AM

Let's hope this case is solved soon!! I really hope so! I'm watching CNN here and it looks like there have been a lot of developments !!

Optimist Prime 10-24-2002 11:33 AM

the sniper called a gas station less than two miles away from my house :(

Maybe a little more than that. But still, its like a three minute drive. :(

DeltAlum 10-24-2002 11:37 AM

Let's hope that the arrests made early this morning are the right people.

And, let's hope that this doesn't span a lot of copy-cat crimes.

Kevin 10-24-2002 01:52 PM

Well from news reports it looks a lot like they've got their guys... They've been convicted in the media at least:rolleyes:

SSS1365 10-24-2002 04:00 PM

It's more than likely the right guys. There's too much evidence against them for it not to be. Plus they found a .223-caliber rifle in the trunk of the car, along with a tripod and a scope. If it's not them, then it's a really weird coincidence!

Peaches-n-Cream 10-24-2002 10:06 PM

It looks like they caught the snipers. Thank God.
