-1-2-3 Jello....it was like 3 different textures and it stacked..I stopped seeing it around the early 90s -"Bonkers" it was some kind of candy sorta like taffy or starburst We have a truckload of Sun Drop and Skor bars in these parts. Sun Drop is the bomb but loaded w/ sugar!!! there was a shampoo I used when I was a kid called "halsa" and it had chamomile extract in it and made my hair look soooo good. I haven't seen it in forever. |
They brought Popples out again a year or so ago and Paige has of them. One of them came with a video that definitely was made in the original Popple era......it was so bad.
They have also resurrected Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, and Smurfs. I had almost every Care Bear that there was and I finally got rid of the last of them in a recent garage sale. THEN they came back out and of course Paige had to have one. They are absolutely identical in every way to the old ones. Boy was I mad paying for a new one when I had just gotten rid of the old ones. Anyone remember Freezy Freakies.......they were these winter gloves and accessories that changed colors and patterns in the cold snow.....I had a pair of silvery white and blue gloves with peacocks on them.......in the snow the peacock's feathery tail came out in a red heart pattern. How about the original Cosmic Candy? Anybody remember Underoos? I had the Wonder Woman Underoos and the kids in my neighborhood made a superhero movie........I was Wonder Woman and I wore my Underoos as my costume!!!!!!! Yep, I ran around and allowed myself to be filmed in my underwear. I remember going to K Mart and flipping through the record bins for 45s..........you had to buy those little round plastic adaptors to put on the turntable and I was always losing them. I'm getting on a roll here...........I better stop!!!!!! |

Carnation: Malt-o-meal is still very much alive! I love that stuff! Haven't tried to buy it up here in Yankeeville yet though...
I miss Silkience shampoo. That stuff smelled SOOOO good and made my hair so soft. The scent Susanna from Crabtree and Evelyn. Smelled awesome. Campbell's Chunky Soup: Beef Stroganoff flavor...that stuff rocked. It was even good cold. Freshman year of college I used to eat it straight out of the can...It was discontinued at the end of that year I think...so it hasn't been that long. |
Here are 2 sites with many of the old cereals and products:
http://www.theimaginaryworld.com/page4.html http://www.inthe80s.com/food/index.shtml Oh and since Kevlar brought up alcohol, I would like a 32 oz Orange White Mountain Cooler to go with my Marathon Bar. |
Things I miss:
-My Little Ponies -She-Ra -Bonkers---I LOVED THOSE SO MUCH! I just noticed that they rereleased He-Man action figures and a new cartoon to go with it. Let me tell you how excited my boyfriend and his fraternity bros were!! I wish they would do the same with She-Ra! Just thought of the ULTIMATE item.....remember those sticker books that you would buy and you would have to get the sticker packages to fill the album up? It was like 5 stickers for $.25 My mom would let me get $2 worth and we would have so much fun finding the areas where they fit. Anyway.......I want one! :D |
Dzsaigirl! What grocery chain carries MaltOMeal?
Have you guys seen that Care Bears are back? I believe that the Hallmark stores are selling them! 'Course, we have 15 here at the house that never left...the little kids still have tea parties with them. I think we have 2000 My Little Ponies. At least. |

Candy and perfume
I miss PixieStix and FunDip candies. They had a flavored sweet/sour powder. Sometimes I still see them. Poprocks were also great!
Both of my favoriate perfumes are no longer available anywhere that I can find: Bill Blass Nude and Jones of New York. On a positive note, my husband found JiffyPop! :D AOIIsilver |

I still have all my Care Bears and My Little Ponies.
Actually, there were some Care Bears that came out in the early 90s. Basically they were "envionment friendly" care bears. Like, Cheer Bear was happy because she recycled. And stuff like that. They didn't go over so well either. I feel *really* old that they're bringing all this stuff back. |
I loved the Popples!!! I miss my Popple, named Popcorn (so appropriate since I'm addicted to movie popcorn)!
I was soooo excited when I saw my very first Care Bear (the light blue one with the stars and moon on its tummy) in some accessories store (maybe Claire's)...I was going to get him but his eyes were closed and I was hoping that since it's their 20th anniversary, another place would be selling them...I'll have to check out Hallmark...are there any other places selling them in case they don't have the ones I want? Does anyone remember the Wuzzles game? The Wuzzles were these cute animals...kinda forget exactly what they look like, one looked like a lion i think...but I loved that game, unfortunately I think my parents threw it out or it's lost somewhere in our basement. |
Juniorgrrl, go to eBay and type in the names of the Care Bears you want! That's how we completed our collection.
Doesn't Bedtime Bear always have closed eyes? |

Flowby -- that vacuum attachment that cuts hair. I'd never use one but I do miss the infomercials for it.
|
Where'd my Smurf cereal go? I loved that stuff!
And also, I got hooked on Wotsits when I went home with my boyfriend a while back, and when I came back to the States I discovered, to my utmost horror, that we don't have them over here! Aaaarrrgghh! But luckily, he's going home for Christmas, so I'm going to request some more...hopefully that'll hold me over 'til the next time I go back. :) |
Although I'd never use either, I miss those ads for the pocket fisherman and the can of paint you were supposed to spray on your head and brush as hair.
|
Cartoons I miss
Beside the Smurfs, Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, etc. I also miss Fraggle Rock and the Monchichis:D
I still see fun dip and pop rocks all the time and also Astro pops only they took out the wax (thank goodness) Also anyone remember Pogo Ball!!!??? |
also.....
Gloworm
Shrinky Dinks Simon says---the elctronic game Night Bright Rubix cube The paper flower making kit thing-forgot the name charm bracelets/necklaces swatch Colorforms!!!!!! |
MY brother just found my Pogo Ball and was like "what the hell is this thing?" I forgot all about Fraggles and shrinky dinks and colorforms! My parents don't throw any toys away, so I know all of these items must be in the attic somewhere! Kinda makes me wanna have a big sleepover just to play with childhood toys!
|
SHRINKY DINKS KICKED @$$!!! Children today are sadly deprived...
|
food
I also remember eating Pac Man cereal---yummy!
What ever happened to microwave cakes and brownies? |

I miss spirographs. Couldda told back then I was gonna be a graphic Artist. It was my favorite indoor toy. Of course, the football was the prefered outdoor toy after mom and dad clarified which was which. |
I miss the garden ranch pitas from Wendy's........
Also, Mad Balls...does anyone remember those crazy things? They were balls (about the size of a baseball) with really gross faces on them. My brother had them and they freaked me out!!! |

EDITED TO ADD -- Okay, just went back and saw that someone mentioned Garbage Pail Kids already. Also, I ADORED KFC Chicken Lils' too! They were so good! |
Oh yeah! Let me add in those fruit drinks that you could get in amusement parks that are in the same shape as the flavor of juice you were drinking!
My favorite was grape juice, and the bunch of grapes shape was much easier to hold onto than the orange. :) And for all of you cereal fans.....Target has Boo-Berry, Frankenberry, & Count Chocula 2 for $4! |
I love madballs!!
|
As for cereal, do they still make Cookie Crunch? That was some good stuff!
EDITED TO ADD -- Wow... I just can't get enough of this thread. I thought of something else I miss... Jem and the Holograms!!! |
I know they sell malt-o-meal in Houston at Kroger, Randalls (Same as Tom Thumb), HEB, Gerland's, Albertson's (until they left TX) and up here in RI, I am pretty sure that Shaw's and Stop and Shop have it.

In Georgia, you can buy it (supposedly) at Target, Super K, and Wal-Mart Super Center (or whatever it's called). |

Just to close the book on the Care Bear rumors.....go to Toys R Us.....they have the actual stuffed bears there and I do not believe that Bedtime Bear has closed eyes. I should know for sure since we have one!!!!!!!!! Darci rocked........she was prettier than Barbie (or at least I thought so) and you could actually get her in a hair color other than blonde!!!!!!! (I always wanted Barbies who looked like me.) AND Darci had a fashion model friend named Erica..........they spelled it wrong, but hey, close enough. Colorforms were the best.........they are actually still out there but I don't know how much they have deviated from their original form. Remember Fashion Plates? It was this little frame thing that you put these plates in, and then you closed it down on your paper and you rubbed the pattern, and it traced it onto your paper.........it was a fashion design thing. I was obsessed with modeling and fashion, so I loved them. How about those old air popcorn poppers? Those were such an innovation!!!!!!!!! Hee hee.....I remember cooking popcorn the old fashioned way, in a pan on the stove. (I still think it tastes better than microwave.) But Jiffy Pop did rule..... I loved Nehi pop........Nehi grape and peach especially. Anyone remember the pizza from Pizza Hut that came out in the 80s.....I cannot remember for the life of me what it was called, but it was stuffed, like a regular pie. You know, there was the bottom crust and then the toppings, but it had another crust on the top and I think more cheese on it. MMMMMMM. What I really miss is GOOD Taco Bell food. I worked there when I was 16 and the food was REALLY good then. Everything was made from scratch. The meat, the beans.......the beans came in a big bag, they were just dry beans, and we cooked them in a huge pot with (I think) lard. We shredded our own cheese, cut up our own veggies.......and the best part was CINNAMON CRISPAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, my mouth waters just thinking of them. They were fresh tortillas, cut up and deep fried, then smothered in cinnamon sugar. God!!!!!!!!! They banned them for being too difficult and not cost effective, and then they brought in the stupid Twists, which still taste like styrofoam to me. (I think they ARE styrofoam. They come in a big bag and they are really small, hard, and compact. Then when they cook them they puff up. Yuck.) I even remember the era of the Bellbeefer, which was basically Taco Bell taco meat on a bun. (This was before I worked there.) I remember when KFC was Kenny King's. It was a lot better then too. Oh, the memories........how they all pile on. The more I read of this thread, the more I want to find a time machine and go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

"Monchichi, monchichi, oh so soft and cudd-a-lee!" LAMO!!!!!!! *Fashion plates was a cool ass toy! *There was another scent that Crabtree and Evelyn made back in the early 90's. Very fresh and clean smelling. No idea, cannot remember the name now... * |
