Oh my freaking goodness, my grandpa showed me Madea's Family Reunion to pass time last weekend. I was ROTF. Madea kind of reminded me of my grandmother. :o

feu_declipse 02-01-2004 02:09 PM

I watched my first Madea film about 2 wks ago but I wasn't paying attn. I rented Madea's Family Reunion today and I'm watching it right now in the lab. I am trying SOOOOOOOO hard not to be loud. It is too funny.

The jokes about th elight-skinned guy were so wrong:)

CrimsonTide4 03-05-2004 12:11 PM

How ya'll durin'?

This is Tyler. I haven't talked to you in a while so I thought I'd say
hi. Even though I am officially off this year, I am still touring. I
didn't want to take any time off without getting to all the places that
were asking us to come. If you noticed, we have played many new
cities.
I can't get to all of them but we are trying.

Seeing the video is one thing but seeing it live is a whole other
matter. This is your last chance to see the Class Reunion live so come
on I'd love to see you. I told the Trenton area when we started the
show a year ago that we would come back so that they can see how it
ended up so we will be there this week.

I did attach all of the tour dates along with all of the "Why Did I get
Married?" tour dates.

Right now, I am writing a show for David Mann, Mr. Brown. It's called
"MR. BROWN GOES TO JAIL". Madea pressed back child support charges for
Cora so he got locked up. The show will start touring in September.
The tour dates will be posted very soon at Tyler Perry.com. Even
though
I am not in this show, I think that Mr. Brown can hold it down. You
will enjoy it. David and his wife Tam (Cora) are good people, so see
the show! They would love your support.
:D

The reason I did this is that I have many people that have worked for
me
for years and it would be unfair for me to take a break without
considering them and their family. This show will not only keep them
employed but you guys will leave there laughing and having a good time.

My new show will start in January 2005, and Madea and Daddy Charles
will
be back. This show will be by far the best one yet. I am hiring some
incredible singers and actors. I'll give you more information as the
show gets closer.

People have asked what I am doing right now. One is that I'm still
touring here and there; the other is working out everyday reading your
e-mails on the message boards. By the way, I am so happy! I just
finished writing my first movie, "Diary of a Mad Black Woman." The
script is wonderful, we start taping the movie in June, and it will be
out in January 2005. Even though I'm off, I'm still pretty busy.
During the touring of Mr. Brown Goes to Jail, you will be the first to
see the commercial for the movie.

I don't know if you know this, but every show that you have seen that
is
on video I wrote while I was touring. It was hard, but now that I'm
off, I can really focus on my script and writing a great story. So
just
know that Daddy Charles is ready for a come back, and Madea will be
rested and ready to go.

Thank you guys! Don't forget about me while I'm off. Just know that I
needed a break so that when this new show comes out, I'll be ready.

By the way, did ya'll order your key chains yet? They are hilarious!

Pray for us, thank you much!

Love,

Tyler

I have not been able to see any in person but I have seen all of them on VHS. He is so crazy and you can help but to laugh the whole time. I can't wait until he does something new. I head that he is working on a T.V. show.

NiaX 04-29-2004 08:01 PM

He said last night at the show, that the TV show is not gonna happen b/c they were trying to make him sellout. He said that they wouldn't let him say "Jesus"...but you could say God..... But he is still doing a movie "Diary of a Mad Woman", and he has other plays that he has written......One of them is called "Meet the Browns".....And yes it is about THE Mr. Brown.

Hello Everyone,

I trust that you all are having a great summer. I know that I am. I
think most of you know that I have taken some time off, but I want you
to know that I have been thinking about you. During my time off I’ve
completed Meet The Browns, keeping all of you in mind. I know that
David Mann (Brown) is going to do a great job. I’m encouraging everyone
to check the schedule so that you guys can get the good seats before we
start advertising.

In case you haven’t heard, I am currently filming my first featured
movie. The movie is based on the stage play, “DIARY OF A MAD BLACK
WOMAN”. After the completion of this film I will be back with one more
Madea play called “Madea Goes to Jail”, coming in January. Around the
same time “DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN” will open in theatres.

I just finished my first week of filming for the movie “DIARY OF A MAD
BLACK WOMAN” and it is awesome. I’ve put a few pictures on the web site
(www.tylerperry.net) so that you all will be the first to witness
what’s
going on. The movie is expected to be released in the month of January,
but until then I will be updating you on how it’s going. I tell you,
Kimberly Elise (John Q, Set It Off, Manchurian Candidate) is doing an
awesome job as Helen. Steve Harris (The Practice) is playing Charles
and they are nailing every scene. Ya’ll know Madea is doing her thing
like she always does. Prepare to be shocked by Shemar Moore’s
performance and new look who is playing Orlando. Let me tell you who
else is in the movie, Judge Maybelline Ephraim is making a cameo as the
divorce court judge. There is a scene when Madea gets arrested and she
has to stand before Judge Mathis, (this scene is so funny) and Pastor
Donnie McClurkin is the Pastor of the Church.

I’ve got to go now because I’m on my way to meet our other star in the
movie, Cicely Tyson. Can you believe that she is playing Myrtle? That is so amazing to me.

I am so proud of the work that everyone is doing. We are doing things you have never seen in the history of film, Black people are being shown in this positive light. In this film blacks are being portrayed as rich, and loving. Well, Charles is playing a dog in the movie, there are also other black men in this movie that we will all be very proud of. Seeing us having made it on our brain and skill, rather than drugs and riff raft is what I’m most happy about.

I must tell everyone that this is a family movie, so you will be able
to take the entire family. I refused to compromise, and the reason I refuse to is because of people like you. You guys keep buying my videos directly from The Tyler Perry Company and investing in me and I appreciate that. This allows me to do things the way that God would have them done, but also to be able to walk away when it’s not right, (…hence the sitcom with C.B.S.) There will be no sex, profanity, or violence, in this movie, well there is Madea Violence. (smile) but you know what
I’m saying.

I ask you to pray for us. I’m trying to be very sensitive to the
Spirit so that this movie is powerful and anointed. My deepest prayer is when people walk away from the movie theaters that they leave changed. After you guys see it you will know what I mean.

God bless you! I’ll get some more pictures for you all to see for next week. I will also tell you about my meeting with Ms. Tyson.

Oh yeah, go to the message board and let me know what you think of this and let me know if you have your MEET THE BROWN’S tickets.

Talk to you soon.

Please do. My mom's birthday is 9.10 and I might get her tickets for the show when it comes to Cleveland. I need to send my daily e-minder to Tyler to have the play come to Charlotte.

silkysmooth38 09-29-2004 08:51 PM

My daughters took me to the show last night belated birthday gift in the pouring rain, other than you, Tyler not being there the show was off the hook. I believe there wasn't one person in the audience who could not relate to all of your artists. I say artists because actors are artists. I needed to laugh like I did last night. Quiet is kept I had an Aunt Vera too but her name was Aunt Marion. Tyler I have followed your plays since I first saw your video. The music is off the hook, as well as the theme of the play. The cast was hilarious, everyone! And what's so weird is I'm studying English Literature and during the Middle Ages actors included the audience in the play. It was great becoming a part of the play!

Just came back from the show with my Mommykins. I laughed the entire time. It was a far better experience than "Class Reunion". That man is NUTS!!! We were also able to see trailer for the movie "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" with an personal introduction by Shemar Moore (Elise Neal was also there).

While there, I bought Meet the Browns (about to watch it now).

FYI-The movie is coming out on Feb. 25th.

Thanks for the report. Some sorors and I are supposed to go see it in Columbia next month. 1SavvyDiva, let me know, we are buying the tickets next Friday. :D

I saw Class Reunion live and it was BETTER than the DVD. When I finally saw the DVD, I felt almost like it was a different play.

I've saw Meet the Brown's several times and I've thought that it was very funny.

Tyler's Latest Newsletter

Hi there,

Well guys we are within ten days of “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” opening all over the country. I am so excited and I know that you are too because I can feel the vibe when I come out to take a bow at the end of the show. I’m sure by now that all of you have seen the commercial and advertisements for the movie. I sure hope so anyway. You wanna hear something funny? I was driving down the street and saw a bus with Madea on the side of it and almost had a wreck!

There was an article in the Wall Street Journal last week about me and the movie. It was a good article but in reading it, I got the since that main stream is not expecting much from this movie. That weekend (February 25th, 26th, and 27th) we all have to go to the theatres to see the movie and it is my hope that every showing for Diary of a Mad Black Woman will be sold out. I’ll tell you why…this is Hollywood’s way of judging your success. They will be the ones to report how many people saw the movie the first weekend it hit the public.

So do me a favor. I want the true Tyler Perry folks in there, this first weekend. Before the rest of the world finds out about what we already know, I want you all to fill these theatres so that you can go to the message board and really let me know what you all thought. You know I read it often. Go to the movies with someone, or some group you’re apart of. Trust me when I tell you this movie is for everyone; bring your church group, choir, senior citizen ministries, singles ministries, youth department, your sorority, fraternity, book club and any other group that you can think of. You can make this an event. If all of us bring our family and our friends it will make a huge difference. Each one of you can make it special. If you have a group, call this number (866) 707-4729 and get your advance tickets. You can start buying them now www.diarytix.com . So when you see this movie just know that I am so proud of it and I thank God for the opportunity. I know you’re going to enjoy it.

You can watch the TV spots at the following links (copy-and-paste into your browser): lionsgate.arcostream.net/lionsgate/dmbw/tv/dmbw_madeas_rules_56Kbps.wmv lionsgate.arcostream.net/lionsgate/dmbw/tv/dmbw_madeas_rules_150Kbps.wmv lionsgate.arcostream.net/lionsgate/dmbw/tv/dmbw_madeas_rules_300Kbps.wmv

This movie is so important because of its content and its message. The essence of this move is so clean and anointed. When you see it, you will know what I mean. I had to fight really hard to get this movie made, as well as hire the people that I wanted in the movie. Hollywood’s system is to take your vision and change it into what they want it to be. I stood my ground because of all of you. You have invested in me from day one and I refuse to let you down. So this Movie was done with the vision that was given to me, uncompromised. Let me say thank you for allowing me to be able to do that.

Shemar, Kimberly and I taped the Oprah show on Tuesday morning and the experience was amazing. Oprah really loved the movie and she really blew it out of the water. She was so cool. So don’t forget to tune in to the Oprah Show on March 4th.

If you want to know if the movie is playing in your area you can always log on and go to www.diaryofamadblackwomanmovie.com. If the movie is not in your area call the theatres that you usually go to and demand that they show it!

I want to say special thanks to all of the people who have been showing up for this screening around the country. I know a lot of you got turned away, but just know that on February 25th we all will have a chance to see it. Don’t worry, I’ll be in New Jersey but I will be finding a theatre to go to that day just like the rest of you.

Thanks for making this so special for US.

Tyler Perry
Be blessed.

Madea: A plum FOOL! LMAO!

The ending was abrupt IMO. We predicted what would happen long b4 it did.

What will be Madea's next "adventure"? I think it could be time to "retire" Madea. The play was funny, but it seemed like the "down memory lane of songs" was a time filler.

Catch Tyler on Oprah March 4th. He said they (DOAMBW cast) will have the entire hour. :D

Yeah the plays have become predictable. I knew something wasn't right with Sonny, Nate and Vanessa, but maybe he can do less Madea and more with other folks, i.e. the Browns and the neighbor lady. I would love to see Sonny again though. :o

AKA2D '91 02-20-2005 07:20 PM

Miss Neighbor lady was a H.A.M.!

I thought Toni's sister would have had a "bigger" role.

I  when they said Vanessa was with "Leo"! LAWD! :o
