I'm going to join in with everyone else in saying CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have wonderful times of excitement and happiness ahead of you...enjoy them to the fullest and you will never doubt why you became a Delta Gamma.
Good luck with the rest of Colonization and please continue to keep us up to date on what is going on with that process. It'd be cool to know since I've never even had the chance to be a part of it. Love and ITB,

Andrea

And my sincere best to your mom. God bless both of you.

The Bid Day ceremony yesterday was also magical! I got to meet all of my future sisters and we got our first t's and group picture!! :p Such great sorority things to have. It was an amazing ceremony, I was a little saddened however, because there are 4 legacies in my pledge class, and all of their mothers were there and the mom's put the new member pin on their daughters...I just wish my mom could have been there...but she said she is going to try her hardest to come to the installation and initiation in November. All of the women seem so nice, I couldn't be luckier to be surrounded by them! Sunday is our first colony meeting and in a few weeks we'll elect officers...I think I will run for President...when I do things I go all the way...so why not? I'm ready and willing and up for the challenge. I'll let everyone know how it turns out. A HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE who has helped me through this...knowing that I have CG here to support me after each round was so encouraging.
DG Love,
CJ

valkyrie 09-28-2002 10:40 AM

Bumping because I'm reminiscing and thinking of all the girls preparing for colony recruitments this Fall! :D

SthrnZeta 08-27-2010 09:20 AM

CJ, I just read through your thread - what an inspirational story. So glad you bumped it!

WhiteDaisy128 08-27-2010 09:38 AM

I probably should add an update as so much time has passed and I'm sure new folks will be reading the thread.

My mom was there for our Installation/Initiation on November 16, 2002. She proudly placed her badge on my chest during initiation!

In December of 2002, we made a holiday trip to Akron, OH where my mom grew up. While there, we met Andrea, who posted several times in this thread and ended up being one of my best friends. Andrea gave us a tour of my mom's chapter's house and took us out for ice cream.

Sadly, on March 10, 2003, my mom passed away.

My sisters were my anchors during that rough time in my life.

We buried my mom in Akron and once again, Andrea was by my side.

I finished out my collegiate years loving my DG experience and continue to be a very active alumna now.

I grew up, got married (Andrea was one of my bridesmaids!), have a beautiful son and another one on the way (due in October - Andrea is also due in October...with a little legacy of her own!). I'm now living in the UK with my little family.

Can't believe how time flies...

I'm so happy DG came into my life. My sisters have laughed with me, cried with me, celebrated with me, and have been my constant cheerleaders!

IrishLake 08-27-2010 09:51 AM

Though I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of your mom, this is a wonderful story whitedaisy! The perfect example of what sisterhood really means. Thank you for sharing and letting us know how things panned out!

WhiteDaisy128 08-27-2010 09:59 AM

Oh and if you want to read more about the whole "What DG has done for me thing..." - here is a link to our Fraternity Magazine, the ANCHORA from last winter, my story was including in the "How I Cope" article. The article starts on page 10, my bit starts on page 17 on the right hand side.

That's such a beautiful article. What started out as red-rimmed eyes as I read the thread turned in to full fledged tears when I read your story in the magazine. Thanks for the update - and the reminder of the depth of the bonds of sisterhood.

What a beautiful story. THIS is what sisterhood is all about.

WhiteDaisy128 09-21-2012 12:11 PM

Here I am dragging this ol' thread up to the top. Couldn't help digging it back up to re-read since I'm flying to NC today. Tomorrow the Eta Kappa chapter of Delta Gamma is celebrating it's 10 year anniversary!

Delta Gamma truly has been a blessing in my life! Can't wait to see how far my chapter comes in the next 10 years!

aab225 09-21-2012 02:51 PM

CJ, thank you for sharing such a lovely, touching story with us all. I'm truly proud to call you my sister!
