Woah

Hey a couple of you mentioned Blue Moon so I have some questions for you. Do they have this outside of the midwest? I had trouble finding it outside of Chicago and in NY I got weird looks when I asked for it. I think it's a great tasting light beer but a little girly. If you haven't tried it with a slice of orange then try it...it's way better (although way girlier).

Anyone try 3 Floyds? It's a strong sniffer beer.

-Rudey
--Hey I might spend a ridiculous amount of money if I go drinking, but nothing beats a cold Nat Ice.

lifesaver 09-19-2002 10:46 PM

Said on other threads, but bears repeating....

Beer: Dos Equis. With Lime. mmm.

If not int he mood for expense (it is an import) all about the Keystone. :) $3.56 for a 6 of tall boys, or $7.76 for an 18 pak. Hells yeah.

Mixed Drink: Grapefruit and Stoli. Easy on the Grapefruit. Best when its Texas Ruby Red Grapefruit.

lovelyivy84 09-19-2002 11:07 PM

BEER: Either ultra girly or guyish. I actually LIKE Bud Light, but I tried this wierd ale thing the other day that was MIGHTY good. Called Lambic Framboise. French (natch). Served in a wine glass (oooh tres classy *in my best Brooklyn accent*)

Anyone else had it?

Mixed: Amaretto Sour, Midori Sour, Cosmopolitan, Fuzzy Navel, Grand Marnier, and ANY DRINK THEY SERVE TEXAS SIZED AT BBQ'S IN NYC! WHOOO! I went there and had a mango peach daquiri with a shot of 151 that was AMAZING.

Lambic? Isn't it fruit based? I had it but I don't remember much about it except that the bottle I had was expired. I had already spent money on it and if I didn't drink it I wouldn't be able to count it towards my free tshirt. And was the beer strong when you had it?

It is raspberry based. Tasted like a snapple, lol. It's like 9 bucks a pop at the bar. Good thing I wasn't paying!

I don't remember it being at all strong, but I was having a GOOD time when I had it so it might just not have done all that much more.

Peaches-n-Cream 09-20-2002 01:06 AM

Cosmopolitan
Champagne
Margarita
Frozen Daquiri
Chocolate Martini
Sex on the Beach
A Shot of Tequila :p

CC1GC 09-20-2002 01:37 AM

one rule

whenever i'm out drinking i always get whoever i'm with to do a silver bullet with me....1/2 zambuca, 1/2 tequila....rough at first, but afterwards everyone is asking me what it's about...

Not a common shot, bartenders always ask me what's in it when i order the $%#@...

p.s. always put zamb before tequila, otherwise the tequila is the aftertaste and harder to stomach.

as for beer...i'm pretty open, i love keiths but hard to find in the states so i'll go for pretty much anything...

Fewdfreak 09-20-2002 01:38 AM

Anyone ever tried Aftershock? I had a little at my friends house once, it's okay, a little hot... I wouldn't drink it on a regular basis or anything, but the bottle is enough to want to at least try it. :D

Since Blue Moon is brewed in Golden, I don't have any problem finding it. :) But a few of my friends that live in other states have never heard of it. Here it always comes with either a slice of orange or lemon.

We used to drink aftershock in highschool all the time. Until one time I got sick from drinking too much aftershock (and some other stuff). I refuse to drink aftershock or anything cinnamon tasting to this day.

I used to drink Avalanche in college, same thing just peppermint. I don't think they make it anymore. You're right the bottle is well worth it. The sugar crystals in the bottom are the best part :D I tried the Aftershock a couple of times, but just too hot for me...

AOX81 09-20-2002 12:30 PM

yeah hi, could I, um, get a shot of something right now?

MuAZD 09-20-2002 12:46 PM

The older ladies in the office just left for a liquid lunch...damn them. :(
Anyway:
Hard Stuff: Cosmos, Sex on the Beach, Seven and Sevens, Vodka Cranberries, and Peach Schnapps and 7-up
Beer: Miller Lite or Coors Lite-my choices; Natty and Icehouse-when I'm hanging with the boys

When I'm feeling particularly sophisticated I'll drink White Zin

OMG!!!! That is the BEST THING IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!! I can't believe I forgot to mention it. The first time I had it was at a bar, and they bring it out with this special glass for it and uncork (yes, it has a cork) it and make a big production out of pouring it into the glass. It tastes like liquid raspberries, not like beer at all. OMG, it is SO yummy.

They sell it at Whole Foods here, and it's cheaper. There are other flavors as well -- strawberry and peach at least -- but I love raspberries more than anything. I'm gonna have to get me some of that tonight!

APhi 09-20-2002 02:14 PM

Hey Angelic, you must go to Mines right? I didn't know Coors owned Blue Moon! Everything ends up being bought out by the big guys eventually doesn't it.

My favorite beers are all of the Colorado microbrews:
New Belgium: Fat Tire and Sunshine Wheat (though I guess Budweiser owns them now)
O'Dells: 90 Shilling and Easy Street Wheat (with a lemon)
Tommynocker: Maple Nut and TundraBerry (I think they have a couple of breweries[?] but one of them is in Idaho Springs)

Mixed drinks: Stoli vanilla and Coke, Stoli stawberry and lemonade(with a dash of triple sec)
Some of you guys had really good ideas for Stoli mixers... gonna have to try some of those.

Wine: My boyfriend has me drinking Bully Hill from upstate New York, really sweet wine. Otherwise, I like a nice Shirah.

I am going to have to look in the organic market now...

hmm....

The strawberry sounds quite good..

I'm a shooter type girl. It makes you feel good faster without the yucky taste of a shot.
My fav shooters:
- Lemon Drops
- Kamikaze
- Buttery Guns
- Apple Pie
- Car Bombs (although it's not really a shooter.....)

lilsnakeyk 09-20-2002 03:23 PM

Beer:
If I'm watching a basketball/football game it has to be Coors Light
If I'm chillin' at the beach, it is either Corona or Red Stripe

Mixed Drinks:
Long Beach Iced Tea
High Ball (7&7)
Gin and Tonic
Adios

Wine:
Gerwittzaminer (sp?)
Green Hungarian

Shots:
Baby Ruth (special SK family drink)
Tequila
Purple Hooter
Shoot the Root

Stuff That I'll Never Touch with a 10 Foot Pole again:
Champagne (Goes in like perfume, comes out like sewage)
Aftershock (I tried to out drink my roommate Justin on this stuff, too bad he's like 6'5" and almost 300 lbs.)
Oatmeal Cookie (These have landed me in the emergency room with a dislocated shoulder)
any drink with the word "Sour" in it

Actually I graduated from Mines in May. :) I never knew that Coors made Blue Moon until I took the tour at the brewery and had some in the tasting area. Actually I have never taken the full tour of the brewery here. All the students from Mines take the "short tour" after classes, which is basically skipping the tour and drinking beer in the tasting area for free. Actually at Mines we call the short tour - Coors Lab. Ha Ha... One of those jokes only an engineering school would think was funny...

leilanimoon 09-20-2002 04:55 PM

Beer: Belgian Framboise beer and pretty much any other fruity belgian beer...theyre the best! don't taste like beer at all! Have only been able to get that when I'm abroad, but for the States, I like Coors light

Liquor: Vodka and Alize

Champagne: Kir Royal and Pink Champagne

Try Alize and Pink Champagne together!!!

sororitygirl2 09-20-2002 05:05 PM

Budweiser does not own New Belgium... they are still independent, just rapidly growing.

I forgot -

Wines, I am a German Wine kinda kid.

Mixed drinks, very rarely, but when at Zinc, I always try the Cure-All: 4 layers: Bottom Chambourd, then Midori, then Champaigne, then Pineapple juice. Good, and if playing catch - up, two will get you caught up in a hurry. :)

KappaKittyCat 09-20-2002 08:27 PM

I'm a girl-drink-drunk. My favourite is a Pineapple Malibu. I also like mixing Bailey's and Kahlua for sipping. I'll do shots, too, of just about anything except Goldschlager. I had a very bad night with Goldschlager one night... or so I'm told. I don't really remember.

We have Blue Moon out here. It's actually fairly popular in Boston. I personally love it, I'm definitely hooked. They put a lemon slice in it out here...pretty decent.

Beer: Rolling Rock, Heineken
Mixed Drinks: Long Island Iced Teas or Sex on the Beach
Bottled Drinks: Citrona, Bacardi Silver, or Skyy Blue

dekeguy 09-21-2002 01:31 AM

If its wet it will do in a pinch.
Other than that:
Hot weather: Gin and Tonic
Cold Weather: Famous Grouse and Soda.
Beer: Boddingtons or Breakspear Bitter
Red Wine: Wolf Blass Yellow Label Shiraz
White: Australian Oaked Chards
Fizz: Veuve Cliquot for serious drinking, Spanish Cava for quaffing.
With a good cigar - Martel
On its own - Hine XO
With a good farmhouse cheddar or some stilton - Cockburns vintage.
Thanks, Grand-dad, for access to your collection and some great tutorials. Thanks specially for that magnum of Fonseca 1945 you opened on my 21st birthday.

Optimist Prime 09-21-2002 03:34 PM

What is the 21 shot challenge? I know you take 21 shots on 21st bday but what are the shots?

Munchkin03 09-21-2002 03:58 PM

My RA freshman year turned me on to Blue Moons. He'd keep them in the dorm fridge.

I'm a Red Stripe girl myself...

MeLikey 09-21-2002 07:32 PM

Kettle 1 & Cranberry
Midori Sour
Rum & Coke

Tom Earp 09-21-2002 10:46 PM

Being the resident non imbiber on this site!

I would drink Grape Juice, Local, California, Italian, French, German, Australian, Bulgarian, and maybe Hungarian!

The Grape cleaneses your soul and Body!

On A Special Occasion, Scotch Whiskey, and on the golf course rice hops and best barley malt!

Well, when in Germany, Becks and HaufBrau, In England, Watneys!

Great Refreshing Drink, Lemonade, vodka, Grenedine, Cherry sitting on the veranda overlooking the estate! Has to be somewhat warm out!:D

alphaiota 09-22-2002 12:42 PM

OP -
the 21 shot challenge -
basically your brothers and friends buy you the shots and it's their chose of what you get. i know at my school they would buy the nasty shots and take bets on when the brother would hurl. they would keep a large trashcan right next to him so he didn't have to get up to puke.
try to avoid the nasty stuff like liquid cocaine (151, firewater, and jager. at least that's how they do it around here.), three wise men, a sweaty buffalo, etc. those are the ones that go down hard and make you puke easier. go for the fun ones blow job, red headed slut, girlscout cookie, purple hooter, lemon drop, kamakazi, cosmo, etc. a straight shot of jager won't hurt much either. i'm guessing you've already done some of these so you get the point.

Two new drinks to definitely try...

Ciclon (which has Bacardi rum, tequila, and a splash of lime in it....should be near the Bacardi in the liquor store)

UV Vodka...comes in all flavors, and I drink it straight. The flavors I have tried are pretty tasty.

Optimist Prime 09-22-2002 02:50 PM

Thanks Shelley. :)
